Hey Safa! I would like to ask you a question, as a total beginner . Which of these two gears would you recommend to me? I'm more into EDM/Brian eno/four tet music when it comes to production. Roland P6 or SP404 MK2? And a sick work from you, as always!

Hey thank you so much for watching! I think that the P6 is a great tool/sampler for making ambient type stuff and I think its workflow is simple and great. It’s also a bit cheaper than the SP404 MK2. The P6 has a granular sampler engine that also you to manipulate samples in a way that the 404 just can’t, and also it can playback samples in chromatic mode polyphonically meaning you can play chords with the P6 easily where the 404 you can’t as easily. That all being said the P6 does not have an SD card slot so whatever you sample into it or take out of it that’s all you get and you have to delete samples to put new ones in if all the banks are full and you want to have new samples on it to make new songs/loops. The 404 can have as many projects as the sd card capacity can handle meaning endless amount of time and such. So it’s really hard to say which one is best for beginners 😅 but workflow wise I think that the P6 is a bit more straightforward and it’s a little bit easier to come up with sequences/loops/beats etc than the 404. Hope that helps, most importantly whichever you choose they are both dope and enjoy the process!

Wow! Thanks for this amount of valuable informations, I would consider buying a p6, one of the biggest pros is - you can take it anywhere you want!

A newbie here. How do you export or sort out the files on the sd card into sub divisions? is it done on a laptop or can it be done on the unit?

As far as I know I don’t think it’s possible to create your own folders on the unit itself however it is possible to export sounds you create that are on a pad/bank and when you select to export the samples, they will show up in a folder on the sd card, I hope that helps!

@safa1one thanks. Ive saved bank A samples to sd but when i go back to import them onto the sp theres nothing that shows up, but they are there if i export from sd card to the sp but theres no sub divisions or sample names or anything.not like what your showing on yours.
