Diamine Inkvent Calendar 2023: Day 20

- Hello my friends, it's that time of year again! Diamine released their Inkvent calendar for 2023, and it's purple. As usual, my plan is to upload a new video every day of each new Inkvent bottle of ink, with swatches of that ink on a variety of papers, and when I have time, I'll also provide some writing samples and maybe some art work (such as it is) if I can manage it. There is a real chance this year that I will be too busy to finish the calendar, so wish me luck.
Diamine has added a new type of inks this year in the Inkvent Calendar, and they've taken one away as well. I'll cover the new one when we get to it, but the missing category is "Sheening Inks", which was probably my personal favorite, so that's a bit of a shame.
Some of the music in this video may have come from Hooksounds! If you need some music for your videos and also want to help support my channel, try them out: www.hooksounds...
Beautiful photos as well as paintings. See you tomorrow.
Thank you 🙂
Beautiful paintings!
Thank you 🙂
I like your paintings very much. It shows me a totally unknown side of those inks. On Astral.. that was too my first impression today morning- ouch it is daaark! It dried out indeed brown and I having some green impressions in lighter parts but maybe that is due to overall greenish glitter? Perhaps I will make some of my swatches or writing samples with “switched off” glitter.. :-)
I like your handwriting samples and this big round nib headers.. :-)
Thanks :-) To me, the ink seemed like more of a grey than a light-brown when it was thinned out for painting, which is odd, although when I did put a grey card on them to set up my camera, it looked like a warm grey instead of a neutral one.
Nice paintings. I would love to see a demonstration on how you use fountain pen ink to watercolor.
Thanks :-) That's something that has been requested in the past, but I haven't found a practical way to do it yet. One of these days I'll make some extra space and figure it out.
Beautiful paintings
Thank you, Alice! These ones were fun to make.
These daily posts are a delightful Christmas gift. I look forward to them each morning. Wishing you and yours a delightful holiday.
Thanks! I'm very happy to hear that you're enjoying them :-)
I love your drawings, wish I was as talented as you are! We are enjoying a very very foggy day today, much like your one photo of the beach. I look forward to hearing your review every day. Glad to hear you're done with shopping. Enjoy your holidays!
Thanks! I bet that if you tried some paintings of this style, you'd be pleasantly surprised at how well they turn out. 🙂
Thank you! I was sure my eyes were playing games with me because I wasn’t seeing it as black either!
As dark as it was and with so much glitter, it took a long time for me to get a read on the color of this one!
Enjoying your artwork and photography! You really managed to add something beautiful to this somewhat boring ink!
Thanks! I don't use black inks much these days... too many great colors out there to use instead... but this one was calling out to be used for painting.
Thanks for another great video! I noticed the Kunisawa notebook among the items in your beautiful setting. I'm a big fan of Kunisawa and would love to hear your take on the brand in a future video.
I have a couple of Kunisawa notebooks with two different papers in them, and I love the notebooks... the design and quality is excellent, and they're really beautiful. The paper inside is pretty average and I tend to get feathering with it, and they were pretty expensive, so I haven't purchased any new ones. However, I bought mine a few years ago, and I understand that they've made changes to the paper that they use, and they're much improved, so I may give them another shot one of these days.
Whoa! Love those paintings! Thank you for taking the time to do these. I'm liking Astral--I have absolutely nothing like it.
Also meant to add that your photography is impressive. Love how you capture the light.
@@empbizpres Thank you :-) I have some similar dark brown/blacks, but I think Astral will be a useful ink to have for cards and labels, etc.
Very Good painting 🎨🖌️👨🎨
Thanks!
Made Seattle look like gothem..haha I reaaaaally like this one
I was surprised at how much I liked this one, despite the glitter.
Yeah this is a good one for sure
Your painting skills are really extraordinary. Wonderful paintings. Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you 🙂
Nice summary and attractive artworks. Do you use brushes for ink paintings?
Thanks! I do use brushes for the paintings... a big one and a small one, usually, although sometimes I just use a medium-sized brush for the whole thing.
I have greatly enjoyed your inkvent videos, they've been my favorite thing to start my day this month! Can I ask what type of paper you do your paintings on? They are such a cool way to show off the inks, and definitely my favorite part of your series!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying them :-) The paper that I use for the paintings is what I happened to have handy this year... it's Canson Bristol Smooth, which is about $8 at Blick Art materials, or 10ish on Amazon (maybe worth it if you get free shipping, there).
I like both paintings however I really prefer the second the most. I can see me at least using up the small bottle in a very nice 1.5 or 1.9 stub
I also prefer the second one :-)
Your paintings are fantastic! :)
ETA: You know, this kind of reminds me of Ferris Wheel Press' Roaring Patina Black...
Thanks :-) You know, I have a bottle of Roaring Patina Black on my shelf... I won it from Pen Chalet several months ago... and I set it aside to do a review, since it was a prize, and I still haven't even swatched it. I need to get caught up :-)
@@thewetpenWell, now you have an ink to compare FWP one to! :)
