D.M. Murdock, an incredible, articulate beautiful woman. I miss her. She is an invaluable source of information. She is sorely missed. R.I.P. Acharya S.
@Lulu Grce Dm Murdock, passed away with cancer. She embodied a warehouse of information pertaining to Religion and mythology. Interesting that she passed on december 25th. She leaves a legacy in her published works.
I miss her too...one ..one of the most courageous truth and fact tellers of our time!

I agree, Sometimes the simplest explanation tends to be the correct one. Actually she did nothing. Her arguments are weak and sophomoric. In truth she is really not taken seriously in academic circles today both in the private and public college setting. Even Bart Ehrman argued that she herself was "factually wrong" in many of her assessments. Apparently she knows nothing of textual criticism.
Matthew Engheta Honestly you're clueless. Ehrman is a great linguist, but his book on the existence of Jesus got shredded by Carrier and Price, amongst others. In other words Ehrman got his ass owned.
Btw Robert M. Price thought her ideas were very interesting, and did have academic value.
And btw most Biblical Scholarship is a joke. Many scholars have to affirm the Bible regardless of any contradicting evidence or they lose their job. Fitzgerald did a poll of the religious affiliations of Biblical scholars. 70% were Christian, and 40% of them were contractually obligated to not deny the Bible. Brodie is a perfect example. He's now Emeritus. Said Jesus is a myth, and he no longer had a job.
So you can piss off with your most scholars agree argument, because the evidence doesn't remotely add up to nonsense they claim, using methods that historians would laugh at.

Except she is excluded from any scholarly respect. A conspiracy theorist and nutjob that twists and squirms thru her life, trying to gain acceptance but remaining an outsider, without respect from any recognized scholars.
Jonathan Stiles she did have the respect of quite a few people. Most so called scholars who blew her off wee sexist. Many people didn't agree with her but she was never dismissed out of hand. There are quite a few mythicists and astrotheology supporters out there. Although it has not become a mainstream source of Christ Myth theory it's there and slowly but surely gaining ground. this is essentially why i gave up my faith.
after 20 years of believeing i woke up thank goodness for the Internet!
I had zero choice in the matter. My 'faith' simply evaporated beyond my control even as I tried to hang on to it and rationalize that while not all of it is factual, the spiritual elements/basics are. I *wanted* it to be true. Luckily, I wasn't raised from birth with fundamentalist indoctrination. While my parents believed in god and Jesus, it was in a very broad sense). The indoctrination didn't begin until age nine when I attended a Southern Baptist Christian school (4th through 9th grade and even then, my questioning of some of the outlandish assertions, e.g., the world flood, 6000 year old earth, a loving god with an infinite torture chamber reserved for non-believers effectively resulted in my expulsion by being asked not to return for 10th grade), so I didn't fall into the 'give me a child until age seven' scenario. I imagine those who are born into fundamentalism have an exponentially more difficult time waking up.
I wanted to believe in order to belong, to find a made within the faith and have kids. The American dream. What made me stop trying to believe was after I started to understand human behavior, dark triad traits and anatomy of a good lie. It is natural to want to not die, to keep existing after we die when we do, and to belong to something greater (to that of the faith, as a child of God). Religion just uses our good nature.
It wasn't an easy job to challenge peoples' religious faith with evidence (or showing the lack of it) but Acharya S did it very well and I am grateful to her for it. R.I.P or whatever happens in the next phase, may you get your "reward"!

Sorry to report that Acharya S. aka: D.M. Murdock. Book author has died of cancer on Dec 25th 2015. She will be missed. Thankfully she was able to leave behind her views and her knowledge which she shared openly with all people Her wisdom will live on.

Christians don't need any more proof than 1) The bible is God's infallible word. 2) If it's in the bible, its true. They won't listen to any reason, or any facts to the contrary. This is what they are indoctrinated to believe. They believe Solomon existed and was the strongest man in the world. But Hercules was mythology. The Jewish tales are factual, the Greek are mythology.
I became angry at the Christian church. Angry because they continued for year after year to fill me with inaccurate information while milking me for money, week after week, year after year. I tried bringing friends to church, I tried making friends at church with little luck. I lost friends who went to church with me one time who then said "no thanks" to me and to Christianity.
My parents went to church for fifty years, every week, and always gave money - usually 5% of their income, which was significant. My mom did not even know who Abraham was. My dad knew more about Santa Clause than he did about Jesus. I tried numerous denominations, and was scolded for asking honest questions, even asked to "find another church".
They never teach the origins of Judaism, the origins of Christianity, or the history of Christianity. They don't teach comparative religion, and don't teach the comparison and origins of all the branches of Christianity. I went for twenty years as an adult and didn't know anything about the Eastern Orthodox branch. I knew nothing about Islam, and I participated as a Marine in the Persian Gulf War. These people do not want you to learn the big picture of it all. They want to spoon feed you their own blend, and have you pay them to keep feeding it to you, That logo of a cross and a dollar sign is so accurate. When we invaded Iraq in 2003, i knew they were lying us into that war. I left the Republican party and Christianity. I am so glad I did, but it has taken me a lot of time and effort to research my way to the root cause of the issues.
The truth of the matter is that the Jews, Christians, and Muslims all have "sacred" texts that are hopelessly pitted against each other. There will be no peace in the middle East without the deconstruction of these texts and proof that they were fabricated and are full of misinformation, fables, fairy tales, and state propaganda. Police investigators KNOW by scientific study that people forget and add details to their stories without lying (that´s how the brain works). I made a simple study that even you can do... I showed students a video about a car accident... I then talked other stuff with them for 5 minutes, and then made a survey of what they had seen in the car accident film. The majority of the students remembered one or more details wrong, like time of day, car color, number of cars in accident, description of the surroundings... and this was 5 minutes after they saw the event. Now if someone interviews these teens (or biblical figures, let´s say 3 or 7 years later) can anyone demand that they would remember ALL the details exactly? NO, not scientifically. Instead, if all the stories were EXACTLY a copy of each other with all details in place (in the bible), one would suggest that they either are copied from ONE external source alone, or copies of each others... making the claim LESS believable. Now we seem to have true stories from several sources, in the actual fact that the stories do differ. Logically this would mean that there is a TRUE CORE in the story, while details may be remembered falsely.

Therefore they would come to logical conclusion that there are no gods or superstitions due to lack of evidence of any kind.

I'm not arguing that some things are hard to believe, but only that not everything that seems extraordinary to us is, in fact, all that difficult to explain. And does not require "extraordinary" evidence for it to be believed: only normal, ordinary, and believable evidence.

What other documents make such outrageous claims like the bible is the inerrant word of god and Jesus, was the son of god, a Jewish guy who was supposedly born of a virgin, raised the dead, walked on water, transfigured on a mount, crucified, resurrected from the dead and flew off into heaven, soon to return.
It's a continual source of amazement that you will believe THAT without ANY evidence whatsoever but you continue to deny all these themes in pre-Christian Pagan mythology. I notice Christian apologists make irrational demands for proof of everybody elses faith, but for their own they require little to none.
We do not hate the bible, it's the Christians shoving it down our throats we are sick and tired of. So, why do we bother?

I would tend to agree very much with what is said in this video. I do believe that these stories did happen, and continue to happen as archetypes of scenarios that unfold before us all, and this is the true significance of these allegories. The Resurrection is allegory for enlightenment, or awakening, the crucifixion (cross fiction) is allegory for the tests that one must face just before this awakening occurs. The saints rising from their graves were others who were near this point in their spiritual journey, and became enlightened, calling this physical unenlightened state the grave. The veil is the illusion we are born into, there is a barrier between normal consciousness, and enlightenment, and so on. I am truly so sorry that she transitioned so soon. She was, and still is, a powerhouse and purveyor of TRUTH, which is what is aggressively eschewed in this lower density we call the material realm. We must all fight for TRUTH and vehemently oppose the negative influence of the Reversed Ones. They are the ones forbidding and punishing humanity for seeking higher knowledge. The gospels are allegory. I can't believe Christians haven't figured it out yet. Its a spiritual story not a literal one.
