@proxywolf2006 which is very emblematic of the overall problem. Shockwave was slapped all over the marketing as if he were the movie's big bad, when in reality he was just there to hide the Sentinel twist.
Bay really wasted almost every bot in the entire franchise, except Megatron, Optimus prime, and bumblebee. And those three are the absolute bare minimum.
Not true. Shockwave is the whole reason the movie is even possible. He manipulates Prime in the beginning by getting him to catch onto the fact humans are lying to him, Shockwave controls the Driller which is essential to Megatron's plan, and Shockwave is the one who held off the Autobots the longest in the end. He didn't do much but what little he did had a MASSIVE impact on the story.
Which actually makes him even worse. Because he will do ANYTHING to preserve cybertron under his control. Like destroying an entire universe, to use it as near-eternal power source.
bay basically makes almost every decepticon dark gray af just to emphasize who is evil, while the autobots have a very diverse colorful patterns, kinda defies the logic of them being in the same race
The majority of vehicles on earth are white/gray/black The base colour for metal is gray I thought you guys cared about the “robots in disguise” element
@@orhandalegend it's not about "RoBoTs In DiSgUiSe", it's about "More than meets the eye". And what you said about "the majority of vehicles on earth is grey/white/black". BS, I've seen a lot more colorful cars in life then in Bayverse.
I think everyone who hate Bay Shockwave should watch Blotzwave's video on him. It's actually really well made and has alot of good points on how he is a good Shockwave
I think Driller being a native Cybertronian creature was a dumbass idea, I think it should have been the amalgamation of several failed experiments from Shockwave’s past. In that context, Driller is about a couple, hundred dead or still living Cybertronians that Shockwave merged into Driller and gave the end result a spark.
I think of it as the Driller. Shockwave created it (like Predaking in TFP) and it not being native to Cybertron and it's creation was to help turn the tide against the Autobots. (Im not trying to disagree with you and i like the take on the Driller's origin 😎👍)
virgin dotm (movie)Shockwave -only lives for 1min Chad dofm (the game/comics) Shockwave -actually threatening decepticon assassin -has an actual back story -could have nearly killed Optimus
To think he was intended to be Dark of The Moon’s main antagonist (thanks to all the advertising and tie-ins predating it)… they should’ve at least made him the secondary with more screen time. 😤
@yachtmasterr9605 I know that the DOTM Game was a prequel to the film that explained how Shockwave was the mastermind behind the plot. But it still would've been nice if he showed up a bit more.
@@Jae-DM only TFP did, i don’t remember any other shockwave throwing hands w anyone, TFA Shockwave straight up assasinated U.M so that doesn’t really count, he was a spy there. Also shouldnt we include Driller as Shockwave’s actions? He is his pet after all.
@@orhandalegend G1 shockwave had a few fights the ones I remember the most was his shot out against the female Autobots and when he brainwashed sparkplug and fought against jet fire, bee, wheeljack, brawn, and trailbraker
2:15 If you played the DOTM Game, you would know he actually is LITERALLY THE ENTIRE REASON why the film happens. He lured Optimus and NEST to find the engine of the Ark, and let Optimus cut off his Driller's arm so it looked like he was getting away. That then set up for Optimus and Ratchet going to the Moon to find both the Ark and Sentinel. They revive Sentinel, and that's when the plan Megatron and Sentinel made back in the war started to come into fruition. Shockwave isn't in the film much, but everything he does is calculated and planned out. Is he explicitly a genius or said to be the one who planned this all in the film? No, but the seeds and evidence in tie-in media are there to show that he was a lot smarter than people who only watch this film and nothing else gives him credit for.
It was Megatron’s plan from the beginning, Shockwave was just following Megatron’s orders. It wasn’t like Shockwave found Sentinel on the moon himself. I wouldn’t say everything he does is calculated and planned out some of it was but not all of it and calculating is sort of a stretch
Ok sure a game added context that made shockwave a better character but the majority of the people who watched dark of the moon haven’t played that and he is still a bad character in the movie and additions made after the fact don’t really change that
@delsordokid913 And guess what? JobbyTheHong from my knowledge only watched the 86 Film, yet he sucks G1 off while he dunks on the Bay Films despite for at least the longest time, not watching 95% of G1. So he doesn't know much about G1 Shockwave either, yet still likes the character. Was DOTM Shockwave limited to screentime? Of course, but Shockwave HAS ALWAYS been limited for screentime, even in G1. So as someone who likes the character of Shockwave, the ONLY REAL REASON DOTM is last, is because he's in 1 Film, compared to multiple other versions that while limited in screentime/pages, has SEVERAL episodes and different plots they're in. So regardless, not a fair comparison. You can say you don't like him due to his design being too busy, or not transforming at all, because he had limited screentime when he was heavily in the advertising, and even if you don't like the fact he speaks Cybertronian instead of English. But in my opinion, unless it's any character from the first movie that lived/showed up for 3 films like Ironhide, Bumblebee, Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, Barricade, or Ratchet. You can't even come close to having a fair comparison with any other iterations that were in Shows, Video Games, or Comics. That's my opinion at least, and my opinion is that this is the best version of Shockwave, merely due to how intimidating and big of a threat he was, even if he would dissappear for long periods of time in the film.
I personally believe that Shockwave was added to DOTM solely to be a red herring and make the audience think that he is going to be the main villain and not Sentinel
That's actually true, Shockwave was originally intended to be the villain of dotm and was hyped up to being the villain to hide the fact sentinel was the one pulling the strings
@@westiewave i’d argue he was one of the 3 Main Antagonists of the Film, including Sentinel and Megatron, without Shockwave the Movie wouldn’t have even happened
@@westiewave i’d slightly argue against that too, i mean whilst we don’t SEE him doing Scientific work, we do have proof that he is, his big ass Driller-Bot that’s been customized for Military Use, Shockwave even added a Piloting Seat to Maneuver with it, probably one of the main reasons we don’t see him much throughout the film since he’s always hiding underground with it, but i do agree it would’ve been nice to see him doing stuff with it on screen
Shockwave should've been reserved for Extinction replacing Lockdown. A lone soldier with all sorts of devices and experimental weapons, collecting unique and special artifacts/people and working for his own agenda.
The Bayverse's biggest problem is treating Decepticons as monsters, not as characters. They have no personality, little dialogue other than snarls and growls, and are quickly and unceremoniously killed left and right by the Autobots or military. In the first film Blackout, Brawl and Bonecrusher don't even speak, in the second the Constructicons are just an army of numerous clones, in the third they are just unscanned generic protoforms and in the fourth they're entirely non-sentient KSI drones. The fifth movie almost felt like they were going to give the Decepticons more character with a Suicide Squad-esque treatment...and then they're all wiped out within 10 minutes.
@@jasonvazquez8652 that's debatable when they're easier to take down in rotf and dotm compared to the 07 film and even then they would be threatening if they had personalities to go along with their executions.
So the problem is that Decepticons are ACTUALLY EVIL and get punished for killing people? The Bay films were going for a more realistic interpretation of Transformers, as in Decepticons who are LITERALLY Space Nazis, are trying to take over/destroy Earth, actually get what's coming to them. Every other TF media other than the comics is rated PG, Bayverse was the first time Transformers ever became PG-13. So having a more evil interpretation of Decepticons that are more Insect/Animal like while the Autobots were way lore human like was not only something new, but FRESH for the franchise. Do I want all of Transformers media to be like the Bay Films? Hell nah I don't, but I wouldn't want the Bay Films to be the exact same as every other Transformers Show. That's my take, take it or leave it.
It's kinda sad how Bayverse Shockwave was used a bait for the actual villian that was Sentinel. In retrospect, it made for an interesting and rather well executed twist, but at the cost of Shockwave being with practicality, no presence. Which is a shame, considering his design is probably my favorite of the lot. He looks rather jagged and ancient compared to the other bots and also very menacing. Also, your idea of Shockwave "upgrading" the cons with animalistic features for the sake of strength at the cost of their sanity is downright brilliant
You actually made me realize an important point: over the course of the entiiiire film, none of the other decepticon leaders discuss with Shockwave about any of the plans or goals or whatever.
Because its his plan, and has been from the start? He steals the chenobyl mcguffin, which causes the government to release the information about what they found on the moon, that being sentinel and the pillars, the deceptcons end goal. So Optimus rushes to sentinel, to bring him back to earth, where the decepticons long standing (made during the WFC) plan with sentinel coming to fruition, having the pillars come to earth without a fight, right under the autobots nose. They already know what they are doing, they dont need to discuss it
@@yachtmasterr9605 Well the issue in there is that, as we can see in the video, people will rightfully not be sure if he actually was involved in this plot at all, especially considering his lack of any actual dialogue.
4:45 I'm sure he legitimately wanted to. But in order to do that, the animation of the bots would've had to be VERY DOWNGRADED in order for that to be remotely possible. Each of these characters in the films have limited screentime for a reason, it's because they simply didn't have enough time nor budget to do so.
0:38 Sorry, no you ain’t! Hasbro didn’t have the trademark for Shockwave at that time, so they had to make a slight alteration to his name. He’s a Shockwave.
He has alot of character. Its just in his actions, as with alot of decepticons. As with soundwave in ROTF, he had a genius plan, stealing the chenobyl mcguffin to get the auto bots to overreact to bring sentinel back to earth, and get the pillars to where they wanted them.

He almost defeated megatron if it weren't for the mental strain that was caused by the transformation.
5:00 He was getting shot at with bullets from not just humans, but from the Wreckers off screen. Yet he kept going when his eye was dangling from his face. He also NEARLY hit Optimus perfectly in the chest, and if it wasn't for Optimus diving over it, he would've actually taken down Prime right then and there.
1:14 I'm sure someone mentioned this already, but according to the continuation plans for Season 4 and that one script reading "The Return of Blurr", Blurr comes back-Sari, wanting to be more familiar with her Cybertron root, takes a field trip to the Metroplex, and after a series of events stumbles down the same compactor chute. Since she has residual AllSpask energy, she revived him, but he was still stuck as a cube. Shortly after taking care of the Kremzeek situation, Cliffjumpee takes Cube Blurr with him to the Stunticons' show, and then later Optimus and Jazz use the AllSpark Matrix to fully restore Blurr's body... then shifting into the Japanese Legends comic's epilogue, his final scene is confronting Shockwave at his prison cell, indicating that the Return of Blurr script most likely occurred in the Japanese continuity.

Imho, the best looking shockwave, but with the worst characterisation. W video. But I think Shatter Glass Optimus is even more evil than any version of Shockwave
2:55 Most designs from DOTM were directly inspired by Animated. It's why Soundwave is short and stocky, Sentinel being in the film, and Shockwave having his canon on his right arm are all from Animated.
@@thevilereviews7812 He didn't for most of it. But skip to 21:15 on this compilation of his scenes. He does have it on his right arm. th-cam.com/video/YSt8_y4t96Q/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
I see, this is a little different I feel. It kinda counts but it doesn’t. It is a gun on his arm but it’s not really a gun arm if that makes sense. But I was making a joke I honestly don’t care what arm is canon is on or if he even has one
He has so much potential and yet he's just a another canon fodder in the movie. Just another "oh no look a big bad guy" He didn't have a proper fight with Optimus Prime. Just imagine we have an actual fight between Shockwave and Optimus Prime in the movie that would be so awesome!
One Shockwave is a good contender for the seat tbh. He is just whiny all the time we don't have the cold calculating scientist, just his design is a good factor really, at least Bay kept him as the guy that has a big monster
Shockwave/Shockblast being an unhinged murderer is actually kind of authentic. The original Marvel Shockwave would frequently have violent outbursts and only acted calm and logical when he was in full control of the situation. Sunbow and Animated were the only "docile" versions of the character, but they're also the most popular
Shockblast just is a Shockwave. Its like saying IDW G1 tankor isn't an Octane, or prime Trailcutter isn't a Trailbreaker. Shockblast also had a hilarious rivalry with Tidalwave.
*That's why Bayverse Shockwave is actually Shockblast in my head canon. Let me explain,* there was a deleted concept of there actually being multiple Shockwave clones on the Chicago battlefield. It got deleted due to time and budget. So I like to image that he's actually just a Shockwave clone called Shockblast, and the real Shockwave is dead so he's trying to take his place. One idea I have that should be in future Transformers projects is Shockwave is the same Shockwave but he has a brother or clone called *Shockblast.* Shockblast is equal to Shockwave in all forms of raw physical power but he's nowhere as smart. He has Shockwave's black and grey "Galactic Man" color, along with the red eye. He could also maybe have his cannon arm on the right side instead of the left side, and it'll maybe be bigger than Shockwave's. But then again, the difference in color and use of his destructive Bayverse personality mights be good enough. *Why fix an already good idea if it doesn't need much fixing?*
How do you know he put it there? Just because he came out of it? What if someone else made that or it came like that? We don’t know, the movie doesn’t elaborate on that
@@thevilereviews7812 Because the movie didn't NEED to, we all know Shockwave is like this with experimenting on creatures and considering that thing only answers to Shockwave and noone else it's pretty safe to assume HE did
WE know who Shockwave is but the general audience (who make up majority of ticket sales) have no idea who Shockwave is. They’re gonna look at Shockwave and go “ooo big scary robot with worm monster” and that’s it. They won’t even remember his name. Sure it’s a small detail but the movie can elaborate on the “improvements” Shockwave made to it.
I did see a video that defended this version of Shockwave, but I still agree that this version could’ve benefited from some of the stuff you mentioned, and if Shockwave was allowed to have more screen time. And sure these movies are expensive, but my answer is simple. Allow the merchandise to promote the film longer to make more money to work on the movie. And don’t put as much money into putting the details into background Decepticons that nobody cares about.
Michael Bay always loved having the military guys assist killing the big Decepticons... Well, maybe that wasn't his call, these movies were funded by the US military, so I guess they'd want to force things like that so little kids watching movie would like to join the army.
“He’s not a scientist and he doesn’t preform experiments!” Meanwhile the giant robot worm monster that he tamed and modified so that he could ride around in all without damaging the overall mobility of it. “It’s dumb that he doesn’t have much screen time!” Yeah cause transformers have always been super well animated, there are a lot of them, and it costs tons of money. “Shockwave does nothing in this movie!” He literally causes the movie to happen. “The cannon should be on his left arm!” That was a design trait carried over from TF animated
1) There’s no concrete evidence that he’s a scientist or that he modified the driller. Taming the Driller doesn’t make him a scientist it makes him an animal tamer. 2) If money is such an issue leave it animated. “It cost a lot of money” isn’t an excuse because Transformers doesn’t have to be live action. 3) “Literally causes the movie to happen” is a bit of a stretch. He executes a plan constructed by Megatron. Technically Megatron causes the movie to happen because it’s his plan not Shockwave’s. Shockwave just did what Megatron wanted. 4) The canon bit was a joke. I don’t really care what arm it’s on or if he even has one.
1, so do you just think that the driller just so happened to have a cockpit inside of it that perfectly fit shockwave inside it? 2, you are right, transformers doesn’t have to be in live action, but by the time dark of the moon went into production the series had already had two live action movies so it would be weird if DOTM was animated, and also I don’t mind it because to me it gives shockwave this boogie man affect. 3, There is no proof of Megatron having anything to do with the plan to with finding out about the ark, Megatron has been on the down low and still healing from ROTF, Starscream is incompetent, Soundwave has nothing to do with leadership, and the Fallen was dead, only someone with the brains of shockwave could calculate such a plan. And 4, sorry about that, it’s just that I’ve actually met some people who go on rants because they don’t like the fact that the right arm has the cannon. But pretty much all I’m trying to say is that yes, if you pay attention to shockwave in this film, he is a good adaptation, to be fair it’s not very clear but he does have a lot of the key aspects of a shockwave(also just to add on, shockwave has always been a character with not a lot of screen time compared to the others, so I think that it’s fair that he doesn’t also)
@@thevilereviews7812and one more thing, this guys actually pretty strong, he took multiple shots from the Autobots and military that crippled other decepticons, he had his eye knocked out, he had a huge chunk of his side ripped out, and he still didn’t give in! Also about the parachute, it’s not like shockwave was stupid and didn’t know how to get it off, it’s the fact that it was tangled all around his horn things and was being shot at from all sides, so I think he has a good excuse to why he couldn’t get it off
And I know I’ve already commented a couple times so this will be the last one until you reply, but there’s a really good video by this guy named Blotzwave and he made a forty minute video explaining how shockwave a good in this movie
@Geekformer 1) I think Michael Bay wanted there to be a cockpit on the driller because it looks cool. I truly don’t think he put that much thought into characterization because in all of the BTS videos he mostly talks about how an epic fight scene or character design was constructed. 2. The movies do no service to the characters if the only reason why the Transformers that we came to see are pushed to the background is because of money or because “we just absolutely need a sequel”. And that excuse doesn’t negate the fact that the character is heavily underutilized. In fact it’s even more proof that the character is underutilized. They should’ve just rebooted with a movie more like Transformers One after ROTF. 3. There’s so much proof that it was his plan. In the conversation in the desert he says “you did me great honor tracking that ship to the moon. Sentinel literally says “We were never going to win the war. For the sake of our planet’s survival a deal had to be made with Megatron. Then again in DC right before Sentinel opened the portal Starscream says “My master such a brilliant scheme. So when Sentinel left Cybertron it was to defect.” To which Megatron told Starscream “he was meant to rendezvous here on Earth before fate way laid us both. In order to revive him we needed Prime and his Matrix” to which Starscream replies “Excellent strategy”. All of this heavily implies that the plan was Megatron’s from the very beginning. Him being injured doesn’t negate the fact that he and Sentinel came up with this plan millions of years ago but because he was offline he had to come up with a plan to revive him. Shockwave played a small part in that plan.
This video has the best argument in how Shockwave should've been portrayed in DotM. I do think there's something poetic about his death with how his one eye was the main weakness. That should've stayed, but the build-up should've been more detailed and menacing.
Didn't he deliberately set off important plot points every time he was on screen though? See the video called "You're wrong about him" with THAT Shockwave on the thumbnail. You'd be as surprised as I was.
Thay video changed my whole view on the movie. Plus he's not ment to be the main villain of the film. So I'm not mad about that. That video really did a lot of explaining and help people understand the character of that shockwave. It's definitely an amazing ahockwave.
I’ve seen his video before and I wasn’t convinced. Most of his points were based off speculation. Great video though. And I don’t think Shockwave was that integral to the plot exactly. It wasn’t his plan to do anything in Dark of the Moon. That was all Megatron. His importance to the plot boils down to looking menacing and fighting Optimus.
@@thevilereviews7812 still the story was meant to have shock wave as the villain only to charge it up. Even then shockwave did his job well while megatron is recovering. A lot of the plan didn't need explanation to us.
The plan was explained well in the movie but Shockwave didn’t have a hand in constructing the plan only executing a small part of the plan at the beginning of the movie. And I guess you could say he did a good job pretending to steal the engine part but that’s about it.
@@thevilereviews7812 yeah and based around the plot of the movie and the plan of decepticons. What use would shockwave be needed for that isn't scientific uses? Oh right a genuine fucking threat. Something shockwave is good at being. When megatron isn't available or around for it. Plus not all of the plan needed to be explain to us. So the speculation holds up for what amount of time we have on the characters and the plot of the film. So truthfully shockwave isn't waisted. He's only the worst because he's not your definition of shockwave.
In terms of design I'm sure he's a contender in that field for best. Although him being left handed i think was a nice touch because it just makes him more unique. I do agree was heavily wasted. Even though he and Optimus never fought the fact that he intimidates Optimus and is the only character bayverse Optimus didn't confront head on and waited till he was vulnerable says a lot. Yeah it's not enough to compensate but it's what we got. Blotzwaves video was heavy speculation and doesn't justify him being used well
*Looks Blotzwave's Shockwave video:* *Looks at this Shockwave video:* “Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.” Edit: Okay chaps, this ain't Twitter, calm down in the replies.
What i would have done is make him a Mr X type villain. While the autobots are on the run, Sentinel and Megatron send Shockwave to hunt them down. Throughout the movie theyd be constantly chased, always fearing he'll pop up randomly. Take it a step further during that one scene where theyre hiding in the hills, Hound refuses to join in and keeps watch as hes beyond paranoid. And yes id have a few instances where Shockwave finds them and claims an autobot or two and feeds them to his worm like construction. Problem id make is shockwave is just too much for the autobots. Even Optimus in the opening said hes scared of him. Make it to where even with teamwork, shockwave is too powerful so the only choice is RUN. In the end, id make him defeated by Wheelie and his friend ramming that giant spaceship into him, causing the worm to go haywire and shut down where it falls on the portal opener tower
You should watch Blotzwave's video on shockwave called "You're wrong about shockwave" although it's kind of a fanfic, it made me like this shockwave way more, and now I will be getting the Baiwei shockwave for christmas
Maybe he is, but I appreciate that Transformers One at least tried tl do something different with him instead of copy pasting his personality and lore from G1
If you only watch the film, that is. If you played the tie-in game, which was a prequel, it actually explains not only his role in the game, but in the film as well. Dude is the reason why the entire plot happens.
I would say Sentinel prime or getaway are more evil simply because they are much more cruel, I mean shockwave is cruel, but he is mostly run by cold hard intelligence, he’s not actively malicious Well, they are run by manipulation and mistreatment of others or pride.
I hope the Transformers One universe expands upon him because I kind of hated that he mostly talks when Elita punched his eye. Still, at least he talked unlike Bayverse.
Bayverse didn't talk in English cause that would've been stupid for him to do. They talked in Cybertronian so that the humans wouldn't know what they're planning.
I think Bayverse cgi was so good, so expensive they really cant do much with the other transformers. But really they coulve just said "oh, shockwave did those"
Funnily enough, Shockblast/Hot Shot actually ARE Shockwave/Bumblebee. The names were changed due to licensing problems the American and Japanese companies had going on at the time the Unicron trilogy was made. I always thought Hot Shot was supposed to be Hot Rod, but it is obvious that Shockblact is supposed to be Shockwave. In Japan, Shockwave is called Laserwave, which is what Shockblast is called in the sub of Energon.
At the start of the movie he let's nest have the power cell by putting the drillers claw that was holding the cell go near optimus so he could chop it off, givong shockwave a reason to leave now that his driller was hurt and now they can find out that it belongs to the ark and get the autobots up their, so they reawaken sentinel and start the plot of the entire movie, during the battle oh chicago he bashes off primes trailer that has flight tech and powerful weapons in their, he walks around the street so he can can a better view and find autobots more quickly, he also shoots optimus into the crane making him unable to fight for 15 MINUTES. and near the end the reason why he couldn't get the parachute off his head was not because he was dumb, but because he was being fired at by all sides and he HAD to shield himself while taking the chute off, and when his eye got knocked out he STILL ALMOST HIT OPTIMUS .
You’re not the only one in the comments repeating points from Blotswave’s video and like I’ve told them all, Shockwave doesn’t cause events from the movie to happen because at the end of the day it wasn’t Shockwave’s plan from the beginning. It’s Megatron’s as stated when he blew off the head of Lincoln’s statue. You don’t have to be a super genius to get rid of flight enhancements nor does it make you a master tactician. It’s kinda dumb that he doesn’t get the parachute off but that doesn’t make him a character who overall is dumb. Also human guns should not do more damage than the Wrecker’s guns. There’s no epic conclusion for Shockwave, he’s hanging on by a thread by the time Optimus shows up. I don’t think Shockwave almost hitting Optimus any less of a wasted character.
Also if the Driller can sense vibrations shouldn’t Shockwave just stay with it? How is moving at walking pace going to get him better view of an entire city or catch up to the characters that can turn into cars? Did that tactic help him locate the Autobots in the movie or did Optimus retrieve the flight tech Shockwave spent so much time trying to separate from Optimus and kill the Driller.
I think you're a little too harsh towards the Bayverse Shockwave. At first, the appearance of his Driller bot (and brief appearance of himself) was very much a part of his plan, to begin what happens in the movie. If he wasn't there, others might have suspected a trap by the decepticons, but he conveniently was there to put their attention to himself trying to grab the fuel cell, only to be thwarted at the last minute, erasing the suspicion of it being a trap and making them go to the moon to bring back Sentinel. Also, during the fighting on the streets of Chicago, the fact that he went for Optimus trailer was not random, it was because he wanted them to be separated, to weaken Optimus. Yes, he didn't have a lot of screentime, but he never has got a lot of screentime, and rendering all the CGI transformers is fucking expensive, so it was a necessity to keep his screentime low. And even close to his death, with eye dangling out, he almost nails Optimus Prime.
It seems like you’re just repeating points from Blotswave’s video. Megatron was the reason for the movie happening not Shockwave because it was Megatron’s plan from the beginning. It’s not like Shockwave came to Megatron in the desert and was like “I made a discovery” or something to indicate that the plan was set in morion because of him but there’s not. He just executed a plan that Megatron wanted to be put in motion. And I don’t really care if it was “too expensive”. If it’s too expensive leave Transformers as a franchise animated so you don’t have to push the robots that we came to see to the back and lack personality. It does these characters no justice if the excuse is “it would be too expensive”. No it wouldn’t if it was animated. Transformers One is a great example
@@thevilereviews7812 You can be like me and look at things from another POV, or you can just cry about a thing that happened, and nothing will change anyways.
I’m not really trying to change anything I’m just giving my opinion. And I look at these movies as a film and a fanboy not head canon. Either the film presented me with characterization or it didn’t. Nuance was the last thing that Bay was focused on because he was focused on making high octane action blockbusters. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with liking Shockwave for what he was though.
I swear to god, the editing makes it look like Shockwave and Optimus had a bigger fight in Chernobyl, but it got cut out of the movie. Like there is a moment Shockwave rises out of the worm, Optimus takes a battle stance, and then it awkwardly cuts to humans rising up, the worm leaving and that's it. Feels like there is a bit missing there. Be it dialogue or a fight.
I honestly like your vision for bayverse shockwave especially about why decepticons look insectoid or animalistic because when you think about it there is no reason why a majority decepticons have sharp teeth and jagged edges all over their body meanwhile the autobots look humanoid
1:09 I know in Idw shockwave is responsible for nearly ending the universe twice but I’d say overlord is more evil. While Overlord never did anything to the same scale as shockwave, the delight in every kill he performs, having fun torturing fort max, G9, it feels so much more personal. He’s truly a monster.
Bayverse Shocwave had more screentime fighting Optimus in the Burger King ad than in the actual movie. Think about that
At least he had a great score
Because the choreography is sentinels fight with prime to avoid the betrayal
@proxywolf2006 which is very emblematic of the overall problem. Shockwave was slapped all over the marketing as if he were the movie's big bad, when in reality he was just there to hide the Sentinel twist.

I dunno, Megatron was pretty wasted after the first film.
Even in the first film he didn’t do much
I disagree
Bayverse Shockwave literally only exists to give Optimus a miniboss to kill before the final fight
I mean...ain't that what he's ALWAYS been outside of comics?
He was supposed to be the main antagonist, originally.
Sucks that Shockwave was so waisted in DOTM cuz his design is actually pretty good for a Bayformer

I think of tfp and G1 and I couldn't even follow when I heard Shockwave was Shockwave in bayverse
At least the Decepticons were terrifying and treated as actual threats in the first three movies. After that, they were basically just jokes.
I am fine with that, we have people saying that optimus is a war criminal for brutally killing decepticons. Imagine if them had a personality
That’s the Fall of Cybertron plot.
Bayverse Shockwave had a amazing disign but he is wasted
They already know what they are doing, they dont need to discuss it
they didn’t necessarily need to, the plans were already planned out years prior, Shockwave just set it into Motion in the beginning of DOTM

Shockblast also had a hilarious rivalry with Tidalwave.
at first I thought you were about to make fun of tfp Shockwave and I was ready to rebel
They really gave Shockwave a cool ass look just to use him for 2 minutes. Aside from that it was cool seeing him speak Cybertronian

Sure it’s a small detail but the movie can elaborate on the “improvements” Shockwave made to it.
Shockwave at least does something. Soundwave... Soundwave is just there.
I was so mad when DOTM shockwave was nothing more than a red herring. He had been hyped up so much and everyone was excited.

1:12 *You underestimate me, Galvatron.*

L + ratio + illogical

@@thevilereviews7812 Oh, let me guess, the best one is Geewun?
@@juanjoyaborja.3054 Nope
@@juanjoyaborja.3054 You wanna take another guess?
TFP Sockwave has more aura than Megatron himself imo
He could have been the main antagonist in that movie
That dude is a frightening one.
Uh, what about Transformers One Shockwave? They turned him into a putz!
Great question! Wait a couple days on my Transformers One review I actually talk about Shockwave’s adaptation.
I’d like to think that Shockwave is before he lobotomies himself to remove his emotions.
Maybe he is, but I appreciate that Transformers One at least tried tl do something different with him instead of copy pasting his personality and lore from G1
still better than bayverse
Your video, is logical.
If you only watch the film, that is. If you played the tie-in game, which was a prequel, it actually explains not only his role in the game, but in the film as well. Dude is the reason why the entire plot happens.
So are we going to forget about transformers one shockwave, Who was less of a character than bayverse
I didn’t see TFOne at the time of making this video but I will talk about Shockwave in my TFOne review this week
In bayverse he is not even a character he is just some random dude, i mean what is the point of his existence in movie xD
To look scary and then die
@thevilereviews7812 Fair point 🗿
The dotm game made shockwave a bit better by saying he is a decepticon assassin that could have been interesting to be expanded on
I would say Sentinel prime or getaway are more evil simply because they are much more cruel, I mean shockwave is cruel, but he is mostly run by cold hard intelligence, he’s not actively malicious Well, they are run by manipulation and mistreatment of others or pride.
In his defense your honor, he looks badass
Man screw Bayverse Shockwave. He had literally know interactions with any of the Decepticons. Not even a scene with Megatron.
it makes no sense why shockwave is sadistic, he's logical not a maniac
3:35 Funnily enough, he doesn't
Tie ins reveal that Shockwave isn't a scientist in the bayverse, he's an assassin
Blotzwave is seething RN.
I like bayverse shockwave, there is more of him in the tie-in comics. But I understand how you can dislike him.
Is this a video reply to that one video named "why you're wrong about him" referred to Bayverse Shockwave?
No I just make videos about the worst/best adaptations of Transformer characters and Shockwave was next on my list.
@@thevilereviews7812 Well watch Blotzwave's you're wrong about Shockwave video.
I’ve seen it. Good video, I just don’t agree with him.
Blotzwave highly disagrees
I respect his opinion
Hate him all you want his design is still good.
