I also like the fact that he understood that order is gone, so there is no such rules about attachments (Yeah, it was Bode's plan, but it shows that he had feelings for Merrin, and he was ready to trust in his heart, even if this will play against him). If he stays on that path he could be a top tier Jedi in the future, Mace Windu tier. Remember that Windu used the seventh form of combat, involving abilities from the dark side of the force. Cal seems to be able to control dark side powers while staying on the light side. Windu had enough power to defeat Palpatine, if Anakin hadn't betrayed him. Cal could be in the same level in the future if he finds any of the surviving masters and receives proper training.

Cal kestis is now my favorite Jedi since survivor, fallen order I just started liking him but survivor sealed the deal. What I love most about cal though is though he lacks unrefined raw power in the force cal has a plethora of special and rare force abilities that they don’t normally show you.
I think what really make Cal work similarly to Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian and Diego Luna as Cassian Andor is Cameron Monaghan’s amazing performance. Dude has always been a phenomenal actor just look at how great he was on Gotham as the Joker. The show got more views whenever he was in an episode and for good reason. Cameron really made Cal his own and he isn’t one note or perfect at everything. Cal has a sort of innocence to him despite being alone for 5 years in jedi fallen order, but then gradually loses that in survivor when he feels the pull of the dark and finally losing cere. It’s sort of a story on trauma. I mean cal was basically a child soldier who lost everything and everyone in one go. It’s absolutely perplexing how out of all disney Star Wars Cal’s story is so much better written and acted than so much of the other stuff they are doing and that is also due to the stellar performances of everyone around him.
I was ready to leave the Star Wars franchise forever after how Disney butchered it. But this game, it made me love the universe again. It gave me hope. A sad, and painful hope, but hope nonetheless. Maybe Star Wars can survive, just like Cal and Merrin. I just don’t want to get burned by this franchise again. But this game was great, despite the shit launch.
Cal is an amazing character. In a sense he is a better Anakin, like Anakin love/romantic subplot is drawing him away from being a jedi. With Cal its more believable, and his attachments and losses are more compelling than Anakin's were. But central for me, and where modern star wars seems to be kind of failing, Cal is likable in that he can make friends, pursue a romance and deeply care about the people around him. It makes him feel more grounded and makes you want to root for him.
I was surprised with Survivor when the rage mechanic hit and Cal started losing himself because i felt that way i fallen order. The anger Cal must have felt losing his Master, his longtime friend on Bracca n his way of life. And being alone with fear, anger n loneliness since about 10yrs. Then spending all his after time fighting the empire. It would be very easy to let you anger consume you.
I can say he did ended up being a pretty good Star Wars character later on that I like with the Star Wars Jedi games better than all of those garbage sequel trilogy character in my opinion
Yeah I'm not a big fan of Jedi during Yoda's era of leadership at all as a whole but I really do like Cal Kestis due to how he's been put together & mapped out as a person in that StarWarsCanon Universe 🔥.
Cal Kestis is basically the DA2 Hawke of the Star Wars universe. He is a lowly Jedi with no special lineage who has become a major threat on the board simply by never giving up.
Honestly, I don't care about the movies and shows under Disney after the sequels, Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor is really the only thing keeping me in the Star wars community now... Also, I hope Cal meets Ahsoka or maybe Obi-Wan around the time Luke meets him, maybe a new Jedi Order hiding out on the edge of the Galaxy while Luke is doing his thing?
My only problems with cal kestis is that he belongs to the Disney star wars universe, and that Kathleen Kennedy social justice feminist activits story group love to write low testosterone weak, emasculated and humiliated male characters, they ruined luke, han, obi wan, vader, dooku, ect, if cal kestis were in the EU he would a badass powerful masculine character
Did you even play the Game? Cal was kicking Ass He was just faced with impossible Odds but He still pushed through and got up again and again and on top of that got the Woman of his dreams If that isnt a strong Character than idk
Eh. I actually thought he was a pretty generic surviving Jedi. Like I didn’t see anything special about him or his story. I feel like the storyline with trilla had poor motivation. Cameron Monaghans voice also sounds like he has a stuffy nose all the time so I just cannot take him seriously lol. What saved this game in my opinion was the gameplay and customization. Utterly spectacular on that front. Other than that story was pretty generic and kinda boring.
It’s cuz he’s not a Jedi he’s a survivor there’s a difference in the way they live, fight, think, an npc even says this about cal in a convo something along the lines of “you look real gentle on the outside but I can see in your eyes you’re a predator” something like that. A survivor is fundamentally different it’s like Rick from Twd who ate a man’s neck to survive a fight cal will use his surroundings and do anything he can to survive and protect those he loves.
The answer to the question is simple and easy. We're surrounded by feminist propaganda right now and the games were a curve ball. They featured so many men in a "neutral way" and a lot of men in "heroic ways" too. In the first game, Prauf dies saving Cal almost immediately. In the second game, yes a woman dies, but Bravo and the twins also immediately die, by Cals side. Cere Junda didn't play the feminist cards, Merrin didn't play the feminist cards. Cere Junda was just a "jedi survivor" who found a new padawan and didn't abandon him to die. Merrin "came around" to Cals side. She played a very natural "self defensive" and "protective" role on her planet in the first game and gave off a lot of what I would call "accurate vibes". And she naturally came around to understand Cal, and then decided she didn't need to stay on Dathomir and suffer with all of her dead family. In both games, even if the "protagonist characters" had real visible flaws, they weren't portrayed like barbarians or inherently evil.
Imagine a video game dev company igniting everyone’s love for Star Wars again, but Hollywood can’t lmao
