Hey Gray! Love your videos! I just finished my wind turbine class so I thought I'd give my input on this. Considering it costs around 2 million for a 2 MW and the payback period for the turbine is, on average, 7 years (for a useful life of 25 years), an investment of 340 million in wind turbine energy would give a return of 886 million$ in the USD current value. This is not taking into account the array loss (due to the turbine being too close to one another) and considering a fixed inflation rate of 2%. You' ll all be happy to know that wind turbines are now (as of 2018) cheaper than coal-based electricity generation but they have not yet been able to beat modern turbine based fossil fuel generation (with wind turbines being about 1.5x times the price as fossil fuel plants as of now.) With the continued work of hard-working engineers, we will have a real clean energy solution that is cheaper than fossil fuel substitutes in the futur. I hope you all have a great day!

Birds are known to get smacked by wind turbine blades. How often this occurs, no clue. It could be worse, though: you could have thermal solar (the kind that uses thousands of mirrors pointing to a tower) literally cook birds in midair.
