    Bryan, what makes you special is that you have the courage to try new things i.e. the mepps spinners. You are a great angler who tries new things and share it with the world. keep up the good work brother.

      Thanks Bas Ali! I love to try new things. Gives it a challenge and cool to see some of these old lures work ice fishing. I wanted to try the Mepps last year but never got to it. Happy to share with the world and glad the world enjoys. Stay warm and take care man.

    Bryan,
    I’ve been a subscriber for a long time now and you have really turned my son on to create his own channel. He just bought an Average media 2+ and we will be testing it out to make sure he gets the quality footage like you always provide. We look forward to each and every one of you videos. Keep doing what your doing! You rock! Thanks again for the inspiration!

      @@BryanProkuski We are in Wisconsin. His Fishing channel is Wisconsin Angling. He is green yet but getting better. He has been slowly aging subs, and he did have a video in the last month that got 6.6k views. It is all attributed to guys like yourself that have fueled the fire. Good Luck the rest of the season!

    Really like your channel Bryan. One thing ive found with my camera is a snap swivel or a barrel swivel 3 or 4 feet up can make a big difference. I fish the same type of water you are fishing. The bass and pike dont like it when the lure is still and spinning in circles.

    • @BryanProkuski
      @BryanProkuski  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jeff. Glad you been enjoying the videos. I have had lot of people this season mention the swivel. I gotta do that next time. Sounds effective! Line spine is the worst. Thanks for the tip.

    Fishing for gills today, they were biting good. I had removed the treble from a medium sized chrome Swedish pimple and replaced it with a single salmon hook. Don’t know size , put on five or six spikes and dropped it down hole hoping to attract a crappie. Didn’t even jig it, and the line was limp. Thought I was stuck in vegetation, pulled up and holy smokes a thirty inch pike!!!! Caught a bunch of gills on it too! Ya never know till ya try!!

    Fun vlog! The spoon spinner jigging is a great technique. I wanted to ask what camera set up and other equipment you're using there and once you started the underwater videos did you enjoy your fishing time more? Keep it fishing. Thank Bryan

    • @BryanProkuski
      @BryanProkuski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Brent! I didn't know what was going happen when trying the Mepps ice fishing but man it worked. I am using a Aqua Vu HD 7i Pro underwater camera with a Aver Media 2 video recording device along with a powerbox to run it all with a Marcum lithium brute battery. I do enjoy fishing with the underwater camera. Like watching TV down there but I can go with out if need. I just like being outdoors.

    Idea so panfish don't pay so much attention to your underwater camera. Add plastic leaf or Christmas type garland to the cable and have the garland go 12 inches below camera.

    Just found your channel and being from the Galveston area, ice fishing isn't possible here. It looks like an absolute blast. Looking at different channels it looks like Pike bite everything but from yours they almost seem skittish. The camera shows a neat perspective really enjoy it.

    • @BryanProkuski
      @BryanProkuski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey George, Glad you Enjoyed the video and Welcome. Ya no ice fishing in Galveston, but can always make the drive up north if wanted the experience. It is a blast. Something to do to past the winter months. The pike on this lake can be skittish but that could be fishing shallow too and making noise up top. It's hit or miss. But yea they will eat anything, especially in the summer.

    the Mepps Minnow spinner was the best bait in the 80's. I hooked a pike so big it drug the damn jon boat with a motor on it and a buddy with with me. Right off the bank by a log. I didn't even see her hit it. there was still in the lake and snow all over the ground. Maybe 36 and bit of sun. Counted as catch for me. You knocked the lure out of his mouth on the ice. He survived and didn't inhale it. that's good also.

    Nice vids bud! Interesting to see how the pike react to minnow tipped jigging lures vs a dead tip up with bait. I almost always use tip ups with Swedish Pimple and minnow but I find the perch and blue gills keep stealing my minnows without being hooked lol. Mbe I should try the sucker on a spreader like you. But from your video it seems like the pike prefer the jigged lures … would you agree?

    • @BryanProkuski
      @BryanProkuski  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks S Brooks! I love the Swedish pimple. A simple lure thats tried and true. Silver is my favorite. When it comes to pike, each day I'm out seems to differ from the jig to the dead stick. I feel like jigging for sure brings them in and its up to what the want at that point. But I do probably get them on the jog over the stick. I like big suckers on the spreader as give its more chances of hookup if they take it. And yeah, perch and gills are always bait stealers.

  • @differentfins
    @differentfins 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol a Mepps ice fishing! Awesome! I know vertical presentations work but I just prefer a horizontal bait. I just cant do vertical jigging spoons anymore, my brain tells me it's too unnatural. Yet I've used spoons and caught fish, my confidence lies in other baits. Weird huh? The in-line spinner though... that's cool!

    • @BryanProkuski
      @BryanProkuski  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol.. Right. The ole Mepps. I have just been stuck for years using the same few baits I've been having fun putting these random baits on and seeing how fish react. Looks like the crappie love him the spinner! I hear you on the spoons but man they do work. If anything the flash will least bring them in to hit your other bait. Take care man!

    Why can't you put the minnow on a regular hook? It makes the bait look less natural to the fish!

    • @BryanProkuski
      @BryanProkuski  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was hoping for bigger sucker minnows so I like to use the double hook harness. But any smaller yes plain hook. Could of probably went plain on this one. Like to switch it up.

    Ya gave it a great try, at least. Not too bad, when you consider all the times that you tried, and tried, and tried some more...only to catch nothing.
    Not too bad of a day, at things considered.
