Thanks, Dru. That shell won the Best Exhibition Ball Shell competition at the PGI convention that Summer, which I was pleased with.
Yes, they are all handmade shells.

I didn't know that people did this type of thing with fireworks. Perhaps the most transient art form. Beautiful.

I Love 12" SHELLS! My finales always include 3 dozen 12" and 5 dozen 10" shells. Floridians won't attend a display with shells smaller than 6". Waste of their time. 3" and 4" shells are just sky filler down here.

Those two shells towards the end remind me of a tropical island because the palm tree shells are so darn realistic

That's Chrysanthemum 6, with +20% "Grape Nuts" sponge Ti, -11+17 mesh, for that long hanging tail which takes a while to develop.
There are twelve 3.5" diameter, 2.25" tall comets in each 12" shell, and one on the outside.

Yes, for pressed comets and stars, I ballmill the non-metal components together for an hour or so. That helps them consolidate nicely and densely.
I just screen-mix comps which are to be rolled.
