Mr. Sunak called himself an underdog few days or a week back on the "Ready for Rishi" campaign. He also accepted that if things don't go in his favor then still it's ok and he could prepare for the next elections which is hardly a year ahead !

@@mint8648 After PM Boris Johnson's resignation as party head and PM... His party... the Conservatives (or Tories as they are called generally) have to choose a new person to be head of the party and hence the next PM. A PM/UK government term is a maximum of 5 years. The party can still stay in power until the term is over, after which national elections are held. Also, sometimes an early national election for a can be called during the current term. This will an election for another 5 years term. The early national election can be due to various factors, e.g. if a party or parties in a coalition or do not have the majority vote and they feel that if they call early election they will get the majority votes and seats... OR... if the coaltion dissolves and there are no other options then there may also be early elections... OR... if a government is not liked or has an abysmal performance then there can be serious calls to dissolve it and declare early elections. There are other reasons too.

No problem if he is not elected. Infact it is a boon in disguise. He escaped the trial of proving himself a British as Hindu tag is there. Now he can practice his faith. In India that is Bharat one should not say he is Hindu, but secular ( only this fr Hindus ) if he has to rule the country.

Petrol price is as high as £1.95p per litre and food and housing prices are now impacted by inflation but no one seems to care. What did Mr Rishi do when he was (chancellor) finance minister? Using the Russia vs Ukraine war and covid-19 as excuses? Please do something for the British middle class and lower class people. However still it is in majority governed by the Dutch. ho I am so happy to be Indian and staying in India, especially in my own ancestral village. This hustle bustle of cities etc. now is bothersome. The biggest stumbling block for the Indian origin Rishi Sunkak's road to victory as the Prime Minister of UK, is his flagrant betrayal against Boris Johnson, his mentor who had groomed the the little known Indian boy, Sunak ,and raised to the position of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, against heavy opposition from his own Conservative, colleagues. And yet he disowned his master and groomer and plotted against Boris along with some disgruntled members of the Cabinet. Sunak has deceived Boris driven by the mad hungry for power and glory.
This back stabbing was too much for Boris who had to say in agony and openly, the future PM can be any one but Sunak.
The Indian press and Sunak' s
friends have been celebrating Sunak' as the Indian born PM in UK, but failed to take notice of of his grand treachery. Even though treachery and backstabbing are not abnormal things here,, it is not so in the western world. While racism may not be playing much of a role in Sunak's diminishing popularity, other factors such as his past friendlness towards Communist China, his ties with WEF are definitely are and above
all his treachery driven by the greed for power and glory.

Sunak’s bid for the PM’s post is seriously handicapped by his ethnicity, British hubris and media misinformation notwithstanding the high trust bar set for Sunak vis-a-vis Lis Truss who has the support of the majority of the party even before their debates started. It is like Liz Truss has to score only 60% while Sunak has to cross 90% to qualify. They are unequally equal contenders. So much for democratic values of equality and fairness.
