  • In this months video I am dealing with the ever growing pile of gelli prints that just need that little something to finish them, as always some things work and some things don't. I'm on a journey of discovery so let's see how I change the mundane into the fabulous.

    Oh Ceri, I'm Carrie also, from North Carolina in the USA. Your TH-cam was recommended to me a few weeks ago and I have been watching all your fabulous tutorials. I've been making journals for 6 years but you do some things that I have never seen and that gets me excited to try new things. Obviously I don't know you but you seem like such a kind soul. I have had a gelli plate in the original wrapper for 2 years and never opened it until yesterday. You have put that fire inside of me to do some gelli printing. I'm hoping for a good outcome. 🦋

      Hey Carrie--Kerrie here--lol
      I discovered Mr. Griffiths not too long ago too (SUCH a great teacher)--I've learned loads from him. I also discovered another Kari here in the comments on several of his vids and for fun made this vid--thought you'd get a kick out of it--Carrie/Ceri/Kari/Kerrie's Unite! 😂🤣😂 th-cam.com/video/k-Jltv2Jxyg/w-d-xo.html

    Hi, Ceri!!! You have a wonderful imagination!!! I love your designs & colors!!! ♥️♥️♥️. I especially love your hint or tip of brayering off the brayer on mailing labels … I’ve got circular ones in addition to rectangular!!!

    • @CeriGriffiths
      @CeriGriffiths  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also do the small circular ones as they make little patches of colour that are sometimes all you need for a number or a letter on a page or in a collage.

    Hello again Ceri -- actually watching this for a second time for inspiration :) You're probably aware of this but it has occurred to me to mention that when you'd like to preserve something subtle on the gel plate to add to a print if you pick it up with matte or gel medium you can get what you'd like to add without having to add another color as well. Always enjoy watching you gel print -- even a second time❤

    • @CeriGriffiths

      Thank you, I’ve must admit I’ve known about using Matt gel medium on my plate but when I’m in the throws of creativity always forget that, thank you again for the reminder.

      Art is all down to personal taste and choices therefore they could have been called complete at as any at stage and I could just as easily have made them worse.

    I really enjoyed this 💜 love listening to you also. I have many videos using alcohol ink on my gel plate with a "special sauce" using hand sanitizer. I also spray with strait Alcohol. My plate is great but I make sure to give it a good oil rundown often. I have even given it a Murphy's oil bubble bath once when paper was stuck. It won't hurt it. Thank you for sharing your amazing work with us today too! 💜

    Sometimes when I want to lift the paint left on the gel press without adding any new colors I use soft gel medium with wonderful success. You could use any of the clear mediums but I have found the soft gel works best. I enjoyed watching you finishing up your prints and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and techniques!

    Fabulous! Before I knew it the hour was up! So fascinating and I love how you talk thru your thought process. I do that too but there’s nobody watching and maybe the dog is listening lol. That TH stencil is “flourish”.....I recognized it immediately. You have inspired me to give my plates a go again. Couple questions.... what do you have your large plate mounted on? How do you store your plates? How do you use your “clean up”sheets? Do you have videos showing how the primary pages are used? (Sorry I’m new to your channel and maybe those questions are answered elsewhere) TYFS! Loving your channel ❤️🦋💜

    • @CeriGriffiths

      Hi Cindy, thank you for watching and I hope these are the answers you we’re looking for : I have my gel plates on acrylic panels, this makes them easy to move around for filming also if I wish to position something onto an already printed piece of art I can turn the plate upside down and position the gel print exactly where I want it, I store my plates with a piece of paper on each side and then in a large shallow plastic storage box, I use my clean up sheets in collage pieces or other pieces of art (I’ve a large box of them that I dip into when I’m creating), I am about to film a video where I show the different uses I put my printed pages to if thats what you mean by how do I use my primary pages. Any further questions just let me know.

    • @CeriGriffiths
      @CeriGriffiths  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re right Robyn but the problem is ever paint is different, if its metallic it seems to dry quickly, if its highly pigmented it dries quickly, sometimes if its high flow it dries quickly….but its never consistent because of the weather and how thick or thin I brayer it on.
