I have a CDT6000 and love it. My 30yr old NAD CD died so I had to get it. I play it through a Schiit Modi Multibit 2 DAC, Schiit Lyr 2 pre amp, Schiit Gjallarhorn power amp into Royd Herald or Minstrel speakers. Lovely sound. I did a comparison with my Phillips Bluray BDP3000 and the CDT6000 whooped it both using coax out into Modi Multibit. Very happy.
An excellent and comprehensive overview of these components, well done! John Darko gave the 6000N a bit of a kicking over the DTS Play-Fi system. It's inexplicable that a company could release a nice-looking and well-made piece of gear with such a sub-par and undercooked piece of software like this in this day and age. A real shame, but there you go...
Thank you. The app is really a mess, I also don’t understand how this could happen. - But I don’t hold it against the streamer or Audiolab. I really like this set. - Thanks for watching 👍
Excellent review. I've already got the 6000A and 6000CDT so I didn't need them selling to me: I know they are top notch. As for your girlfriend: I'm convinced she would be much happier if you bought her a decent teapot and taught her how to brew good tea properly. 👍🏻😉
Thank you so much, great review! I just ordered the 6000 A today and wanted to know about the power cord, does it not have a ground? Unlike the other two units, it seems to have only two pins on the board.
When my Marantz 6006 CD player started to refuse CDs less than perfect, it was time to look for an alternative. I ended up buying Audiolab CDT. I have so far played about 300 CDs on CDT, including some badly scratched ones, and they played well. The added bonus? Music sounded never so good on my Rega-ATC combo!
Great review! So, can we conclude that the socket connectors of Audiolab equipments have the right side as the hot lead? If so, this tip that I found online isn’ t so trustworthy: “For German and Japanese devices, the phase is usually on the right and usually on the left for American and English devices.” Thanks in advance for your clarification 🙏
Is there a way to tell how the european power cord is meant to be plugged into the outlet without one of those sockets you are using? I could only find one of those screwdriver thingies.
Hi, thanks for watching 👍 - My best experience was with the audioquest carbon coaxial cable, but both optical and coaxial outputs are great. - The second CDT I have is connected with a 4 meter Audioquest optical cable to the PS Audio (for my main system). Still perfect.
I know that this question does not relate to this video, but I would really like to know whether there are any other speakers that are similarly designed and available on the market,as the OCELLIA'S ?These speakers are hard to come by,being built in France, but marketed from Canada ?
I don’t know if all reviewers do this, but here’s my reasoning: - It looks better on film. Remember, it is a review for visual media. In daily use I never have anything on top of my amps. - The Audiolab is not really a class A amp. It does not get hot. There’s no real need to put it on top. - Dust gets in more easily when the ventilation holes are on top. This particular system is playing at my girlfriends house and she never plays loud. I understand your reasoning, but the amount of heat that is created in her system is really negligible. So I prioritize to keep the dust out.
I agree it's a great looking design but I had it for a bit and never liked it. I had the black version, which had a really weird texture to the finish that kept producing a kind of black dust that never completely came off, however much you wiped it. Then the sound: analyitical, dry and overly cool for my tastes. Lastly, I don't think it's a great testament to build quality if you can actually pull off the mode dial so easily!
Hi, thanks for your comment. - The black stuff is strange need. Nothing like that on the silver model. - If all models have this dial problem I would agree with you. However, I suspect the previous owner had something to do with it. - Build quality is way above average. Especially for this price. - What speakers and sources did you use, because I really don’t recognize the sound description you gave.
@@theaudiophilebarista2424 Well, I bought the 6000a when I had my previous speakers, Elac debut b5 (not 5.2). I had a Marantz m-cr603 at the time, not a powerful amplifier but a sweet and relaxed sounding one. The 6000a just sounded a bit flat and mechanical with these speakers. I now have a Denon pma 800ne, which I just love. It has a slightly warm tonal balance but superb punch for its power rating. It less audiophile than the 6000a in that you cannot remove the power cord and it doesn't have a toroidal transformer, but I love the sound with my Triangle Esprit Titus EZ speakers. It's all about component matching in the end, isn't it? And I've got components that match extremely well for the sound I'm looking for.
A cable does not produce any sound.. I know that. Technically only a loudspeaker produces sound. - It changes the sound…just like you said.I was just talking about characteristics as I perceive them
I love my 6000 CDT. It has never met a CD it doesn't like. It is being used with a Sim Audio Moon dac via the coaxial out.
Cheers from Canada

Love the power cable comedy, so funny
I know, most people, who don’t understand what phase is, think it’s funny.

Geweldige revieuw.

Looks good, sounds good as well. I am also a big fan of uk audio components. Da best wishes!
Thanks. Some great stuff coming from the UK 😁👍
Great set up my friend 👏. We'll respected brand in the UK. Nice video my friend. Best wishes Terry uk 🇬🇧 ❤ 👍.
And you should be proud of it 😉

I noticed that, sometimes, on the cables provided in the box of amplifiers, the live and null are clearly indicated, for Audiolab that Is true.
Good for you! Your girlfriend sounds awesome! I'm curious what the failure rate of cd transports are compared to their integrated cousins.
She is the best 😉
Her transport is still working.
I bought a new transport recently but the 6000CDT that I use still works perfectly.

Ik heb de 6000 A bijna een maand gehad. De trafo ging brommen en rammelen en heb 'm terug gestuurd.
Dat is waardeloos zeg. Terug naar Audiolab? Hoe reageerden ze?

why do all reviewrs stack the amp at the bottom of other components, blocking the top vent holes?

6000 cdt . Legendary. In the audiophile constitution it should state all cd players sound of that standard. 😂
Anything lesser wont do .
The light becomes red when connected to a network cable. Blue means WiFi is active
Thanks, I missed that one.
I never even consider WiFi, so I did not really pay attention 👍
As soon as he brought out the silly power cables, he lost all credibility.
Sorry kid. Cables do make a difference.
Seems you have no decent hifi set up. Or bad ears. Of course cables do make a difference. I bet you never gave it a try

Do you own this system or is it only an review?
Hi, I own it.
Nice to see you again. Have a nice weekend.
I've paired my CDT with a Denafrips Ares II and couldn't be happier...super value!
Just Pług the funkin think and play it!
I think I would be a little bit wary of putting a cracked CD into a expensive player.
It was not a recommendation 😉
