The highlight of the second act in the Theatour of 74. I was lucky to see this 4 times, Philly, New Haven and twice in NY. And while it's not as exciting as the Farewell performance of 1973, I still get goosebumps.
My dad has described this moment to me for years. Saying a giant hand, in a closed fist formation, stretched out into the crowd and slowly opened to reveal Bowie (just when his que to sing started) sitting in the palm of the hand. Seeing this, just shows me how fucked up my Dad must have been when he went to see Bowie in concert.
+Nochocheese125 Hahaha. Yes, but a concert experience isn't necessarily just what took place. There is ample room for one's own perceptions and fantasies.
+Nochocheese125 hey changed this up a bit, he used a disguised cherry picker for this song, time, and he was extended over the audience, till one night, it stopped working, and he sat there and had to keep singing songs, hoping they would fix it before the show ended. thankfully for him, they did. he imagined himself hanging over the audience until every one had left, a bit embarrassing! this was after that event, no doubt. i haven';t seen it, but i heard bowie talk about it on interviews, so dad isn't as messed up as you thought!
+Nochocheese125 Don't knock yer Dad just yet. The 'hand' did used to open to reveal Bowie. It broke by this point and couldn't take his weight so he came out behind it. He appeared in the hand many times before this. Your Dad might well be right!
+Nochocheese125 your father is awesome..you should go and shake his hand right now and tell him thank you for being so fuckin awesome..seriously..go do it..go hug your dad and tell him thank you..
Ah, the incredible Mr. David Bowie - I first saw him during the Serious Moonlight tour and have seen him a few times since (he is ALWAYS amazing, my favorite rocker of all time). However...to be transported back to the 70's....*wow*, al I can say is, everyone who was there was SO LUCKY!!!!
missed this tour here in Australia....I think this would have been amongst the best shows that he ever did.....I would have loved this....the footage here on TH-cam is great, I just have to settle for these videos of the tour, its still great, stylish to the hilt.......loving it thank you Ziggy Starlet very much.......
It works... I just closed my eyes and was there... in real Live I saw 3 Performances - what an exciting adventure. I' ll never forget those feelings I had, it was incredible...bowie-fever for ever..
Thanks for putting this together. He was a Cracked Actor performing songs uniquely at every gig he ever did. Genius. Piano man Garson sounding great too.
This is gorgeous!! David Bowie's music is what kept me going through my problems this time last year, his music was my prayer and medicine. I truly love him!!!

DB the Real Master! Thanks for uploading the video!
I love the "Cracked Actor " footage- especially Moonage Daydream. David Live could have been so much better, the performance is muted as the guys knew they were being recorded and weren't happy with the pay.
@BlackSkyThunder Not 76, but surely in 78, during Stage Tour. 'Cause in 76 Station to Station was released and the album sessions was not so good for his health, ya know. But anyway drugs was important and he is a legend that could overcame all these problems. He's a great man indeed.
classic!......Cant get enough of this record especially around Halloween man...''Halloween Jack'' & all that! + he was very into crowley!..He did'nt just keep this ratio of genius records one after another for nothing!...between 1969 he released close to TEN FUCKING RECORDS ALL GENIUS TOO!...Theres no artist today thats come lose to that in a 25 = year fucking career & if so NOT TO THIS QUALITY!..STILL LOVE YOU THOUGH DAVE!...EVEN IF YOU ARE ILLUMINATI LOL!...WHERE DO I SIGN......
Will the complete Diamond Dogs show ever be released? I was hoping this show was going to play Chicago but, and this was what was reported at the time, the stage and all the props, went down in the swamps in Florida and that show was scrapped. The show that did play Chicago, at the Arie Crown Theatre, was a stripped down show without all the props and..it included as one of the backup singers an unknown but soon to be VERY well known Luther Vandross! I was at that show in the balcony. I could stop thinking about what I had witnessed that night..even oh so many years later. Those were very different times.
Gawd - I followed the DD tour in the Melody Maker from Germany, and couldn't believe the reports that the shows were a disaster with a David Bowie completely out of touch with the world - I guess fan's view was different, but that's what some critics said. Like the video, but I'm really glad he recovered.
I don't care if he was taking drugs or not, the body of work between Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs and Station To Station were the best in his career. Too many people focus in on that and ignore the music. What a band behind him, Earl Slick, Mike Garson and David Sanborn? Wow. He was not too stoned not to sound great on this.....
Where on earth did the sharp segments of this video come from? There is so little footage of the DD tour around (vs the Philly Dogs). The BBC apparently has a complete recording of the Philly Dogs tour (from Cracked Actor). Defries said the MSG performance of 'The Year of the Diamond Dogs' was filmed with three cameras - but no one seen a trace of it. The DD opened so many windows for artistic to come - even 30 seconds is pure gold
I'm 99% sure this is from a fan-made video, which compiled all available fan footage of any shows that tour, cobbled them together into one concert, and synced it all to the audio from the famous (and spectacular!) LA Forum bootleg from that tour as best as possible, to simulate a video of a single concert from that tour, none of which is known to actually exist. The whole "concert" is available like this. In lieu of any genuine complete shows from that tour on video, it's pretty thrilling to watch.
is he lip syncing here? he keeps on pulling the microphone away but the volume doesn't change, ie when he sings 'demanding' around 1:08. unless he has another mike? honest question, no bashing pls
Like said above, it's very likely that the sound and vision of this video are from two different performances combined, audio synced with live fan footage. I think David never lipsynced, except on Soul Train.
These are among the most brilliant lyrics I've ever heard. Bowie doesn't get the credit he deserves for being a very gifted poet & songwriter.
This is absolutely stunning. This has always been my fave "Aladdin Sane" song.

David will continue to astound those just discovering him, while the rest us have embarked on the true journey of time.
The door to dreams was closed
Your park was real and greenless...this is the reason I made it through high school...

OMG ...his voice STUNNING. Love this song to pieces.
I wish i was born in the 50's or 60's... I would have gone to see every tour ;__;

I saw Ziggy...Alladin...Great White Duke...etc. this MAN is GOD!
when he sings "demanding Billy Dolls" i have very strong eargasm and a little death at the same time. how could they not film it I just can't
Earl Slick on guitar. Fucking amazing!
I love Bowie so much!!! Bowie lives through me. However, the man was high as a kite will singing this song 😂😍👏🏻

It works... I just closed my eyes and was there... in real Live I saw 3 Performances - what an exciting adventure. I' ll never forget those feelings I had, it was incredible...bowie-fever for ever..
Saw him at the Tower. One of the best shows ever!!
Thanks for putting this together. He was a Cracked Actor performing songs uniquely at every gig he ever did. Genius. Piano man Garson sounding great too.

You really know how to treat the fans :)

I'm fall in love David, he's the best.

Jimmy Smith exactly... and that is the reason why I still hope for a DVD release.
@rocker70sman fortunately he got over himself. Smart enough indeed.
Just look at him nowadays.
He's just a naturally slim fellow. Also his very bone structure.
@coopyfenderbeupus Where is the "Los Angeles Ampitheathre" - what is it called nowadays?! I would have DIED to have been there, wow
What concert was this? Simply captivating from the the thin white legend.
@moofa750 apparently just over 100 lbs at the time! coke and milk! mmm
oh yes....
Thanks a lot for the videos!!!!!!
Btw, what are the deleted videos 1, 10 & 11?
bra bra bra!
Very nice. But my personal fave is the 1980 floor show version.
That should be the SI unit.
