THANK YOU Omg nobody explains this at all online. it makes sense because butane is heavier than air so when you hold it upside down, it purges the air which is above the butane. i have an old lighter i got from my great aunt and i never could fill it because nobody explained the purging as you fill part.
The Blue cap comes from the can of butane I buy, it has a small hole in the blue adaptor. I have to push it on the pin before filling the lighter. You could probably use a little bit of silicone or food grade tubing of the appropriate size to filt over the butane tip of the can and it should work better. These plastic adaptors in the cans of butane never seem to fit tight like they should and leak just as much or more butane than not using one.

@@Lighters-cf4bd sorry about that. It almost looks like some sort of sealant next to the filling hole. On my lighter that’s where the screw to adjust flame height is. Will check out other videos now.
@@jedleon9461 where the tubing comes from the main valve, zaima does put a black sealer of some type to keep it from leaking. Never had one that I can remember leak from there.
I have a vtg bronica lighter and been confused why it wasn't working with butane is it cause I didn't depressurize it ? Seems like it was spewing out gas to fast to light
@@shayneu9445 if I missed your reply I'm sorry. If the gas is set to high some lighters will have a problem igniting. Turn your flame adjustment toward the low flame side and give it a shot

So, I'm trying to adjust the flame size but no matter which way I turn the side wheel, the flame is just massive. Any tips?

What do you have stuffed into the adjuster? I have the same lighter but butane leaks through the adjuster screw.
