  • Learn how to solve reaction stoichiometry (sometimes called equation stoichiometry) problems. These are problems where you are given a chemical equation to balance and grams for one of the substances. You then convert to moles, use the mole ratio from the balanced equation, and find moles of the quantity you are trying to find. You then convert these moles back to grams.
Note at 6:59 there shouldn't be a 2 in front of N2 in the balanced equation.

Converting between moles and grams is the cornerstone of being successful in stoichiometry, the study of chemical quantities. Take the time to learn mole conversions and you will find chemistry is much easier.
The use of conversion factors (also called factor-label method or dimensional analysis) is a more general technique for converting quantities. Once you understand how it works it can be applied to many different conversion (as long as you know the conversion factor).

Holy- Thank you so much! My chemistry teacher prefers "teaching" through homework instead of in the classroom, and I simply couldn't tell head from tail from stoichiometry. Thank you so much sir. You saved my grade. Thank you again, enjoy one more subscriber, and have a great day! :D

I've been incredibly stressed out and overwhelmed starting college during the pandemic. Chemistry has always been my hardest subject, but I feel so, so relieved that you teach in a way that's easy for everyone to understand. For the first time in my life, I'm passing my chemistry course, and with flying colors. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Bless your heart, bless your soul, bless your family, and may the rest of your life be filled with only good things.

Your voice is incredibly soothing, and this video is incredibly informative and easy to digest. I swear I would have full-on freaked out over stoichiometry if it weren't for this video. You are doing God's work. Thank you.

I had no idea what was going on in chem, but now I know what I am doing. Thanks.

Hi Dr. B when I divide 85.2 over 17.3 I get 5.00293 instead of 4.99. And shouldn’t the balanced equation for H2+N2 have the ration of 3:1:2? Why is there a co-effieficient of 2 for N2? Thank you for your time

How do you end up w 54g of O ?

I missed two classes mid semester and my 98 has dropped down to an 80…. This is the lesson I missed! Everything that we have learned since has made sense but on each exam there are two questions worth 22-25 points each that require that understanding this as one of the first steps. So I was getting those wrong and them using the wrong answers to answer the other questions🫣🤷🏼‍♀️
