Third Street Promenade Santa Monica Lots of closed shops?

On this video we walk down the lovely Santa Monica third street and see amazing shops and entertainment. We do find a lot of empty shops

I used to go there in the late 1990s. Nice stores, good people, street performers. It has gone to hell in the last 20 years with out of control crime, the homeless problems has always been part of Santa Monica, but it has proliferated to anarchist proportions. Theft, looting, robberies, car break ins. You can have it. I've moved to a red state wirh lower taxes, lower crime, and better life.
There used to be a legitimate expat English community next to thr Promenade with pubs servinf pints of warm beer, London newspapers, pubs serving mash and bangers, but alas, they all got bulldozed ro make room for chain corporate stores ajd homogeneous stores.
