When I adjust the low idle speed using the slotted screw above the carb intake, i got it to idle better and not smoke as much at low throttle. Good instructional video overall BUT.... as you said in the middle... people want to see if it will run after you work on it. To me that means from FIRST pull on. It was clear that you did not show the first pull but after you had it running.... exhaust was coming out of it just before your supposed first start. Just sayin...it spoiled the suspense for sure.
Not always do the videos go as planned. Thanks for watching.
How much did you pay for it?
$200 and put about $200 in it.
$200 for a non runner seems high. At least here in Wisconsin. Like your videos on outboard repair. Can I ask where you find the replacement parts?
I bought a 1977 merc 4.5 about 2 months ago for 100 $ Canadian in great shape, complete except for a broken prop and fin and hasn't ran in 5 years. Got it running, welded the fin, changed the spark plug, the prop shaft oil seal, gear box oil, water pump impeller, propeller and drain and vent screws with the seal for a total of about 100$. Put it for sale for 375$ this week and sold in less than a day. I bought 2 merc 1970 something 9.8 and a 1980 merc 20, I Believe those will be a different story but worth working on them.
