Dracule Mihawk the Hawkeye in One Piece Verse has a "Saitama Syndrome"; he is tremendously strong, bored, lonely and is looking for the day that someone will give him a challenge for him to fully unleash his suppressed Strength and Skills right now none can do that unless Zoro will reach that level, this why Oda is holding Mihawk's power for a reason and that is why we don't see Mihawk using any of his Hakis(Conqueror, Armament and Observation) yes you read it right he has conqueror haki obviously because Mihawk is a conqueror in the realm of swordsman as Oda stated "He is the world strongest swordsman both in title and actuality(reality), he sits at the very top as the most powerful among swordsmen. I think there is no way to for sure determine who the winner would be. But I think relying on just a title, in a show where titles have been misleading quite often, over concrete feats and demonstrations of strength is just insane. I’m not saying for sure who would win but I don’t see how your money could not logically be on shanks just based off of what we’ve seen as opposed to what we’ve seen from Mihawk.

I don't think titles are misleading honestly, Whitebeard had old age and a debilitating disease and he himself also says "I can't be the strongest forever". And I don't think Kaido's title is so misleading, his feats are crazy. Also Kaido's title does involve more hearsay and less definitive statements as opposed to Whitebeard and Mihawk. Regardless if Whitebeard and Kaido's title are misleading or not, Mihawk has narrative on his side. Mihawk is clearly created as the final challenge for Zoro. If he isn't actually the strongest swordsman, I would really question why Oda would even put him in the story in the first place. Mihawk has also pledged to Zoro that he will 'hold the seat of the strongest' and wait for Zoro. As long as Shanks is considered a swordsman by Oda, putting your money on Mihawk is definitely the logical conclusion.

All I am saying is that the manga goes out of its way to hype shank’s’ Conquerors haki more than anything else in his arsenal. Regardless of if mihawk is stronger which I think they are equal I believe shanks is the greatest coc user alive rn. I also think mihawk is the greatest armament user alive as well. Mihawk due to his epithet of 'Hawk-Eyes' and his original epithet of 'Clairvoyant' definitely allude to a mastery of observation haki and I don't have doubt that Mihawk's armament is superior. Mihawk obviously is able to use conqueror's coating as well and he has that Black Blade. Shanks is insanely overrated, so I completely understand the sentiment of the video. I Also agree that luffy=shanks and mihawk=zoro narrative argument is bad, because Luffy is paralleling joyboy and shanks parallels roger(which might include him dying young like roger. I wonder how shanks fans will react to him losing to BB 😂🤣😂.) and zoro isn't exactly paralleling Mihawk or Rayleigh. All that being said I do think shanks is stronger than mihawk for lore based reasons. The first reason is that Shanks has stronger Advanced Conquers Haki, thereby making him the stronger swordsman. 1. From the series we know Advanced Conquers Haki is important to swordsman. As Roger, Shanks, Oden and Zoro are confirmed to be Advanced Conquers haki users. I think Mihawk and Rayleigh definitely have the advanced Conquers Haki it just isn't confirmed yet. Another important aspect of swordsman is observation haki. And we know shanks has insane Observation haki, its honestly hard to imagine anyone having better Observation haki than him. 2. I think Mihawk and Rayleigh Prime are similar in strength. 3. In 1096 Rayleigh was confirmed to be at God Valley. And this presumably the only time Kaido met Roger and Rayleigh, so this interaction is what he is gauging their relative levels of Adv Conquers Haki 4. Roger and Shanks were both in Kaido's Top 5 Adv Conquers users and Rayleigh was not even though he met Kaido at God Valley. 5. Based on the previous points shanks would be stronger than Mihawk, Because shanks made into Kaido Top 5 and Rayleigh didn't. Plus given shanks made it into Kaido's Top 5 Relative to Roger who we know was stronger than Rayleigh. The second reason is that Titles in one piece are not always indicative of strength. (eg. Luffy getting Yonko Title on WCI and Buggy getting the Yonko Title) In Mihawks case I think he has the title of strongest swordsman, because he beat Rayleigh not because he's the best swordsman in the verse. Some people believe that Mihawk is not as powerful as shanks just because of what happened at marineford, while if you ask him if he whether or not a fraud he would say he isn’t and he is Yonko level If that is the case then why do you insist on referencing to marineford 😂 since you yourself believe he is yonko level then it means you internally know that he wasn’t going all-out. We have examples from the same event which are akainu and aokiji, from what we have seen in the marineford akainu looks way more stronger that aokiji but it turned out that they are relative and aokiji wasn’t using his full potential. The fact that shanks is not luffys goal, ik everyone knows that but mihawk is also not zoros goal. Zoros goal is to become the strongest swordsmen and guess who it is not shanks a confirmed swordsman but mihawk. Its clear in every sense that mihawk is stronger. I got Mihawk winning against Shanks, narratively it just doesn't make sense to me if Shanks wins that fight. But, I kinda have a problem with HOW people think Mihawk beats Shanks. Here's my take. - Shanks is most definitely a swordsman. Let's get that out of the way. - Anyone who fights with their primary weapon as a sword and wants to challenge Mihawk, is going to lose. Because the path that him and Zoro have taken in this story just completely CLEARS anything that anyone else has done in terms of dedication to the blade and their skill with it. - Haki is a key component of swordsmanship, but it isn't the entire picture. If the practice of swordsmanship was entirely down to haki alone, then Mihawk has reached a level of haki that not even Roger was able to, and it would mean that the most optimal path for a pirate to take in this world is to strive to be the WSS. Everything we've seen Zoro do in this story doesn't really matter at all if he just needed stronger haki. He might as well have just fought Luffy's opponents. - Your skill/connection with the blade is important. The reason that Shanks can even give Mihawk, or any other Yonkou a challenge in the first place, is because he's got insane levels of haki. I don't think he cares about sword styles, breath of all things etc. I think he's good at swordplay, but he's not at Mihawk level of expertise. - To me, Divine Departure is completely on brand with what I expect pirates like Roger/Shanks to do. Roger swings his sword like a baseball bat for gods sake. Mihawk would probably be appalled by his form considering that the guy is really big on using a sword with grace. DD looks like a conqeurors + ryou internal destruction sword technnique to me, because none of the Divine Departure attacks we've seen have actually cut anything so far. Oden got blown away and Kidds railgun got destroyed from the inside. These guys just get their haki and full send it. Mihawk's got amazing levels of haki and also represents the pinnacle of proficiency with the blade. But I think Shanks is a less refined swordsman, but makes up for it with some of the strongest levels of conquerors haki allowing him an advantage against other fighters.
Mihawk is the strongest swordsman of today but Zoro wants to be the strongest swordsman ever meaning he has to surpass both Roger and Ryuma. This doesn't mean that he will be stronger than Luffy isnce Luffy needs to match or surpass Joyboy.
Honesty the whole deabte about sword skill vs sword power becomes dumb when you look at how Zoro fights. He doesn't exactly use skill in most of his fights and usually wins through raw power and haki. And his goal is Mihawk. So why would his goal be the most skilled swordsman and not the strongest swordsman even though he mostly relies on strength.

By this standard, Luffy should be World's strongest creature now, because he beat Kaido and he should also be stronger than Mihawk, which, at the moment, he probably isn't. Have you ever wondered why Shanks' Gryphon isn't a black blade? Neither was Roger's Ace. Because while they use a sword as their primary weapon, they didn't use it as much as Mihawk did, or Ryuma to imbue it continuously and consistently with Armament Haki. Shanks has tremendous Haki and if used his Blade as much as Mihawk, Gryphon would be black too, but it isn't. And that's how you know that while Shanks' primary weapon is indeed a sword, it isn't his whole personality. Mihawk has been slashing with his blade from the start of series, whereas Shanks did it probably just once with Kidd. And still has more Feats. Shanks has stopped Kaido and Kaido counts him among few worthy opponents. He disabled Greenbull from miles away and one Shot Kidd with a 3 Billion Bounty. Titles don't always tell the full story when it comes to strength.

At the time they were evenly matched(though I’d lean towards Mihawk even against two armed Shanks), but when Shanks lost his arm, Mihawk no longer considered him to be capable of matching him so that makes it pretty clear Mihawk>Shanks.

Ik it wasn’t stated in the title but I was looking for an actual comparison, not the same dumbass argument that everyone uses to say that mihawk is stronger, I for one think they are equal in strength and think their parallel in the story is roger and Rayleigh since 1 in the right hand man of the pirate king who wields a sword and the other is the pirate king, just like we have in the story. But if I were to choose a side I would choose shanks because of the fact that the definition of a swordsman is “a person who fights with a sword, typically it being their strongest skill and weapon for attacking” and although it is his strongest weapon, his attacks do not revolve around his sword and although he needs his sword to do it he can also use a spoon, don’t see anyone calling him a spoon man do you? I think there is no way to for sure determine who the winner would be. But I think relying on just a title, in a show where titles have been misleading quite often, over concrete feats and demonstrations of strength is just insane. I don't think titles are misleading honestly, Whitebeard had old age and a debilitating disease and he himself also says "I can't be the strongest forever". And I don't think Kaido's title is so misleading, his feats are crazy. Also Kaido's title does involve more hearsay and less definitive statements as opposed to Whitebeard and Mihawk.
Regardless if Whitebeard and Kaido's title are misleading or not, Mihawk has narrative on his side. Mihawk is clearly created as the final challenge for Zoro. If he isn't actually the strongest swordsman, I would really question why Oda would even put him in the story in the first place.
Mihawk has also pledged to Zoro that he will 'hold the seat of the strongest' and wait for Zoro.

Shanks definitely has more ways of using Conqueror's haki than others especially the observation killing.
Mihawk due to his epithet of 'Hawk-Eyes' and his original epithet of 'Clairvoyant' definitely allude to a mastery of observation haki and I don't have doubt that Mihawk's armament is superior. Mihawk obviously is able to use conqueror's coating as well and he has that Black Blade.

Shanks is insanely overrated, so I completely understand the sentiment of the video. I Also agree that luffy=shanks and mihawk=zoro narrative argument is bad, because Luffy is paralleling joyboy and shanks parallels roger(which might include him dying young like roger. I wonder how shanks fans will react to him losing to BB 😂🤣😂.) and zoro isn't exactly paralleling Mihawk or Rayleigh. In fact he might end being stronger than Roger, Because hes going to be the right hand of Joyboy. And Shounen has have this thing with the new generation being stronger than older generation.
All that being said I do think shanks is stronger than mihawk for lore based reasons.
The first reason is that Shanks has stronger Advanced Conquers Haki, thereby making him the stronger swordsman.
1. From the series we know Advanced Conquers Haki is important to swordsman. As Roger, Shanks, Oden and Zoro are confirmed to be Advanced Conquers haki users. I think Mihawk and Rayleigh definitely have the advanced Conquers Haki it just isn't confirmed yet. Another important aspect of swordsman is observation haki. And we know shanks has insane Observation haki, its honestly hard to imagine anyone having better Observation haki than him.
2. I think Mihawk and Rayleigh Prime are similar in strength.
3. In 1096 Rayleigh was confirmed to be at God Valley. And this presumably the only time Kaido met Roger and Rayleigh, so this interaction is what he is gauging their relative levels of Adv Conquers Haki
4. Roger and Shanks were both in Kaido's Top 5 Adv Conquers users and Rayleigh was not even though he met Kaido at God Valley.
5. Based on the previous points shanks would be stronger than Mihawk, Because shanks made into Kaido Top 5 and Rayleigh didn't. Plus given shanks made it into Kaido's Top 5 Relative to Roger who we know was stronger than Rayleigh.
The second reason is that Titles in one piece are not always indicative of strength. (eg. Luffy getting Yonko Title on WCI and Buggy getting the Yonko Title)
In Mihawks case I think he has the title of strongest swordsman, because he beat Rayleigh not because he's the best swordsman in the verse.

But, I kinda have a problem with HOW people think Mihawk beats Shanks. Here's my take.
- Shanks is most definitely a swordsman. Let's get that out of the way.
- Anyone who fights with their primary weapon as a sword and wants to challenge Mihawk, is going to lose. Because the path that him and Zoro have taken in this story just completely CLEARS anything that anyone else has done in terms of dedication to the blade and their skill with it.
- Haki is a key component of swordsmanship, but it isn't the entire picture. If the practice of swordsmanship was entirely down to haki alone, then Mihawk has reached a level of haki that not even Roger was able to, and it would mean that the most optimal path for a pirate to take in this world is to strive to be the WSS. Everything we've seen Zoro do in this story doesn't really matter at all if he just needed stronger haki. He might as well have just fought Luffy's opponents.
- Your skill/connection with the blade is important. The reason that Shanks can even give Mihawk, or any other Yonkou a challenge in the first place, is because he's got insane levels of haki. I don't think he cares about sword styles, breath of all things etc. I think he's good at swordplay, but he's not at Mihawk level of expertise.
- To me, Divine Departure is completely on brand with what I expect pirates like Roger/Shanks to do. Roger swings his sword like a baseball bat for gods sake. Mihawk would probably be appalled by his form considering that the guy is really big on using a sword with grace. DD looks like a conqeurors + ryou internal destruction sword technnique to me, because none of the Divine Departure attacks we've seen have actually cut anything so far. Oden got blown away and Kidds railgun got destroyed from the inside. These guys just get their haki and full send it.
Mihawk's got amazing levels of haki and also represents the pinnacle of proficiency with the blade. But I think Shanks is a less refined swordsman, but makes up for it with some of the strongest levels of conquerors haki allowing him an advantage against other fighters.

Ik it wasn’t stated in the title but I was looking for an actual comparison, not the same dumbass argument that everyone uses to say that mihawk is stronger, I for one think they are equal in strength and think their parallel in the story is roger and Rayleigh since 1 in the right hand man of the pirate king who wields a sword and the other is the pirate king, just like we have in the story. But if I were to choose a side I would choose shanks because of the fact that the definition of a swordsman is “a person who fights with a sword, typically it being their strongest skill and weapon for attacking” and although it is his strongest weapon, his attacks do not revolve around his sword and although he needs his sword to do it he can also use a spoon, don’t see anyone calling him a spoon man do you? Anyways, sorry if this comes off as hostile but I would want an actual power scaling not the most popular opinion against shanks, to prove who is better. The fact of the matter, we don’t have enough evidence by either of these 2 to prove that.
Edit: Just like to add that titles also are not to be taken totally seriously even if shanks was considered a swordsman, if we are talking about how well they can use a sword I would give it to mihawk, but mihawk would lose to roger, so saying he is the greatest swordsman of all time is also in accurate for that reason too, just like the title “worlds strongest creature” kaido is technically a human with a non-human species devil fruit, so that title is inaccurate too.
