@@funplayer05.1 2006-ish Supernatural fanbase if I'm not wrong (it's always Supernatural, yes). But the more effed up concepts like special weiners, noncon as a love language and so on are actually taken from werewolf aus and their breeding kink subset, to be more specific, and those were there before Supernatural even aired. (none of the more effed up parts of the genre are in Tadaima, Okaeri, in case anybody was wondering) Then, Japanese side of the fandom got to know this, adapted it as yaoi - in the meaning of a "work that does not adhere to the preset standard", not the "guys doing the do" meaning - and then went from there, actually creating a quite interesting spread of the universes all deriving from omegaverse and dealing in the themes of dynamics, power imbalance, biology forcing certain behaviors and stigma that comes with it. Of course, there's also porn, and you probably won't find a semialive fandom without at least one take on omegaverse, also now people decided to branch out and use it for lesbian couples and some even tackle it as metaphor for transness or straight up mess up their favorite characters (and piss off their creator) by making them trans AND with an unusual dynamic- ...in my defense, I wrote masters about fandom.

@@norwa3518Understandable, as Re:Monster (2011) is one of the early Isekai genre series, so many new author could have used it's reincarnation premise for their own stories. Basically, 2010-2011, could be considered as the beginning of the Isekai genre.
Then again, it's technically true. With how many shows are coming out in every subsequent season these past few years, there's more and more of a chance for a few gems to sneak in. And it's true, there have been more and more hidden gems coming out with every season. Anime fans are eating better and better. It's not a trend, it's just statistics.
Girls Band Cry not being licensed is a crime. I've got to imagine some middle manager was just "eh, 3D, not interested", because the entire thing is just so well done. The 3D works really well and actually plays to the strengths of the medium by having lots of animation on screen at once all the time, rather than trying to pretend to be 2D limited-animation, but the real standout is how well the characters are written. Every one of them feels fleshed out with a well-defined personality that you know better after a handful of episodes than some shows manage with multiple seasons, and they feel real with down-to-earth problems rather than having big, exagerrated anime personality tropes and situations. They're all kinds of pains-in-the-ass but still likeable and sympathetic.
It's even more of a shame with the fact that Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night is being compared to A Place Further than the Universe in this video (Which is totally fair. There are similar vibes and Jellyfish is legitimately great) when Girls Band Cry LITERALLY shares the same script writer. I'd say it's the biggest licensing flub of the season...but honestly...even if it's not a better show...Blue Archive not being licensed is more baffling on the fact that it's a huge existing gacha game IP.
@@Max465 As far as ik there is like no official way to watch Girls Band Cry in most countries outside of Japan as opposed to Blue Archive which is legally available in certain regions which is why people are talking about the Girls Band Cry licensing issue more. Like for example you can still legally watch Blue Archive in most regions of Asia for free cuz its part of Anione Asia's seasonal roster

Holo and Lawrence are back. And whatever anybody says about this remake not living u to the original (which is total bs) or whatever, we can all agree that despite our differences in our thoughts, they did Holo justice by making her tail *FLUFFIER.* Now for those who want to keep reading the rest of my thoughts, then continue if not, then scroll past but let me cook... FINALLY! After waiting over a DECADE and a HALF! It's FINALLY BACK! Everything from the Seiyuu's, the art, the style, the vividness, EVERYTHING IS AMAZING! Even down to the ED song and OP which both (especially the ending) calls back to the original OP and ED of the Older version. The close attention to detail in this first episode alone really has made a Avid S&W Connoisseur such as myself grinning from uncontrollable excitement! Not to mention how the story at the start of the episode was told from Holo telling (yk if you have read the LN or manga but I won't say for anime onlys) about her travels with Lawrence up to that point. I also LOVE the fact that they brought back Yarei instead of Chloe. I understand why they replaced Yarei with Chloe but glad to see them being fully faithful to the original (not saying that the original run wasn't) and this helps me believe studio Passione will do their absolute best to staying faithful from the beginning to end no matter the case. Also for my final point of discussion, with many older fans complaining about hoe the new style isn't original and unique and rustic like the old one, I agree with to a certain extent. But that being their reason for calling this remake "trash" or "unwatchable" is just crossing the. While I do agree it's lost a bit of its charm with the change of animation, I still believe this will help more people find out and discover the olny true SSS tier waifu you'll ever want or need. Along with the fact that it aligns with the LN art better than the older version which might or might mot be a turnoff for some but in a way it's already more "faithful" than the original for those who want to use the argument of saying "tHe oRiGinAl iS mOre fAitHfuL~". Another thing is CANNOT forget to mention how GODLY Kevin is with the OST?!?! He's really putting in the work and it shows. I'm so glad that we have been blessed with someone who is just as much invested into this project as we are. I'm sad that newer fans won't be able to hear the old OST's since they're so catchy and beautiful but Kevin is doing it justice so I give my MANY MANY thanks to him and everyone else behind this production. So either way I'm happy and content with this first ep. I hope to see how studio Passione will animate and direct the upcoming events in the story. I apologize for the long rant but since it's my favorite series ever created, how can I NOT be excited?
My brother in wheat; the joy of the remake is multiple flavours of spice... and wolf Anyone smooth enough to compare cannot see the truth between the frames: they finishin' dis shiit. It's written all over that cocky flash forward. So my brother, rejoice for your patience hath been blessed, bow we must do as the scriptures say: vote with our wallets, for spice and wolf season 3 will bless us... in like half a decade 😂
I'm so glad that Jellyfish can't swim in the night is getting the recognition it deserves. I love that show, it's a breath of fresh air to me. Every single episode have something to tell and doesn't exist just to fill a cour. Hope it'll stay like that till the end. If you haven't watch Jellyfish can't swim in the night go watch it. Recommended.
Thank goodness the anime picked up after that first episode. I suspect they made the first one as a teaser and it lost some quality, then again I'm playing the game so bias, etc. Tbh, I'm surprised he isn't playing it, it's not one of the more demanding gacha games out there, and the story and characters is better than the gachas he IS playing.
@@fleetingimmersionI also have bias, I can see that the quality is not the best, and they are making some changes that I don't agree on, but I think it still works, because of the writing. (For me Volume 1 isn't even the best volume but I still really like it).
The direction is... Ehh. It's not bad but it doesn't capture the comedic timing and buildup of the original. Aru, for example, got the short end of the stick because the best part about her is how the story took her seriously for a second... Building her up, before tearing her down. The best thing about Aru is the misunderstanding field she exudes and how she just kept failing semi-upward somehow.
@@jotarodopudim I mean, yeah, vol 1 is an introduction at best, so it was never gonna be the best, but you can't just jump into the Eden Treaty on episode 1 either, can you? Even if they tried, they'd have to front-load it with the make-up work club which features Hifumi, who is introduced in Abydos in the first place. I'm just enjoying the ride and looking for lore and decisions that weren't in the original game which, tbh, is most of the combat scenes and interactions (them being animated rather than visual novel style). Also tidbits about the world that you'd have to piece together in the game (I think ep 1 Shiroko mentioning that she rode hundreds of kilometers and was still in Abydos was part of her relationship stories for her bike version in-game).
@@FengLengshun Can't say I disagree, it could be better, but I think it's still more faithful to the source material than Azur Lane was. It's also interesting to see the beginning story after playing the game for ages and piecing stuff together that I didn't notice the first time (such as when they have a bag full of money, and Shiroko defers to Hoshino on whether they should keep it, because she knows about Hoshino's history with paying off that debt.) If anything, the biggest disappointment with this anime is that it's so limited. We don't get the later stories, and may never do so if it's not popular enough.

Is this some type of sub joke I'm too dub to understand? Dub being two episodes behind kind of sucks but I already know what'll happen so it's not that big of a deal I guess.
@@icebox1954 ya kind of. So basically in the sub versions of both the original animes, Holo speaks with a older accent and thus she uses phrases and words that aren't really used to often and especially not in moedern japanese lingo. So whenever she talks to Lawrence and such, she usually either addresses him in a couple of different ways but a iconic way that she addresses him is calling him "nushi" which means boss/master or sometimes guardian. She talks like this mainly because its the way she talks and also to poke fun at him and have a fun time, bantering back and forth. But in the correct context, it actually is another way of saying "you" in most of the scenarios in the series. This is credited towards how Hasekura sensei stated that he used Oiran dialect as a base for Holo's lines.
@@Nolo-HLM Ah, that's pretty cool and does fit her personality and long life. I'm biased in favour of the dub as Lawrence's voice is my favourite in all anime but maybe it's time I give the sub a try. Have you noticed any significant difference from the old shows' sub and the new one? Speaking patterns and the like I mean. I want to know whether I should watch the old show in sub and then come back or whether I can just stick with the newer one without missing major context in speaking patterns.

I just wanna step back and appreciate all the great anime I've watched over the years, anime has been such a big part of my life and taught me a lot of life lessons that I utilize. This "Anime Season In A Nutshell" series has been going on for 10+ years and it's hard to believe, where has time gone?
You can tell I am the last of the Millennials because I understood the ENTIRE Gen Z segment. My favourite anime this season airing are Kaiju No.8, Go Go Loser Ranger and Jellyfish Can't Swim In the Night. I am also quite happy to see Spice and Wolf make a comeback and Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Part 2 to give us more interpersonal relationships and world building.
I’m 36 and understood it but that’s half due to my teenager😂 As a former emo teen I have to watch Black Butler it’s in my genetic makeup and it’s not bad animation is real good, but my definite favorites are Spice and Wolf, Kaiju No.8 and Loser Ranger.
Okay, OKAY. setting aside EVERYTHING else. When you talked about Jellyfish can't swim in the night and showed the director's history, I panicked when I saw Flip Flappers next to Eromanga Sensei. I literally went back and paused it to see he only did episode 5, aka one of the best episodes in that show. Guess I'm going Jellyfishing.

When I graduated from college around 2017 I fell into a deep depression and rediscovered my taste for anime in between and your channel helped me a lot to find new titles and remember old ones. I don't think I have watched anime since 2021 or something like that..., The last time I check this channel Kaguya-Sama was at its peak and sadly, I don't have the time to catch up with all that came out since and looks that so many interesting things are going on. But, also I am in an age in which I feel that a good deal of anime are now out of touch. Maybe in the future I will catch up with all that I am missing, and I know I will start with these reviews because they are always on point.
Missing out on "the crow can't choose its master" it's actually shaping up to be a good fantasy drama. The first episode was pretty slow but each new one has been really great. Im very interested in the world building and the political intrigue is really well done.
13:38 LV2 Kara Cheat: This anime is a secret throwback to an older anime along with the other remakes. The main cast VAs are Rie Kugimiya(Rhys) and Satoshi Hino(Flio), which are actually the VA for Louise and Saito respecitvely from Familiar of Zero. The OP, sang by Kugimiya, is addicting and cute with the dances imo and Kugimiya reemerge as the heroine of a show is reminding every boomer weebs (especially Japanese/Taiwanese ones) why Kugimiya Disease was a thing back in the 2000s and also let the new generations of weebs know how much of a GOATed VA she is. Kugimiya probably popularized Tsundere in the 2000-2010s, she voiced Louise (Familiar of Zero), Shana (Shakugan no Shana), Nagi (Hayate the Combat Butler), Taiga (Toradora), and Aria (Aria the Scarlet Ammo) which all are tsundere.
I love Go! Go! Loser Ranger! It flew under my radar until the 3rd episode, watched 3 episodes, was amazed, read the 136 manga chapters through the weekend and loved it. It's so different from other shows, where the MC has a simple goal, while Foot soldier D, seems to have a simple goal, but questions himself throughout. While reading the manga, I never felt bored and never could really predict what's happening next. It's such a breath of fresh air. It has such well-written mysteries and doesn't really hold your hand much. I also love the relationships formed by the characters, where they're unique and very down to earth.
I really love how this show was written by the mangaka of the Quintuplets series - the romance series that was such a hot topic whenever a new chapter dropped, because of... THE MYSTERY, not exactly the romance. Everyone was theorizing who the "girl he met in the past" was or who is going to end up with the MC. Negi sure does know how to create an intriguing premise and build upon it xD

Of course, there's also porn, and you probably won't find a semialive fandom without at least one take on omegaverse, also now people decided to branch out and use it for lesbian couples and some even tackle it as metaphor for transness or straight up mess up their favorite characters (and piss off their creator) by making them trans AND with an unusual dynamic-

And it's true, there have been more and more hidden gems coming out with every season. Anime fans are eating better and better. It's not a trend, it's just statistics.

Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night easily became my Anime Of The Season among the plethora of Animes airing this season.

Now for those who want to keep reading the rest of my thoughts, then continue if not, then scroll past but let me cook...
Yk I was gonna read allat but……I’m too stupid to read allat

The Blue Archive segment did not disappoint, simple, and direct lol
It's also interesting to see the beginning story after playing the game for ages and piecing stuff together that I didn't notice the first time (such as when they have a bag full of money, and Shiroko defers to Hoshino on whether they should keep it, because she knows about Hoshino's history with paying off that debt.)
If anything, the biggest disappointment with this anime is that it's so limited. We don't get the later stories, and may never do so if it's not popular enough.

Question, does the main heroine commit triple "urusai" ? I need some of those
TsundeRie voices character= I must watch the show

I love Go!
GARNT IS FINALLY LEARNING THE CUTE AND FUNNY😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
