Hey friend, you are fishing, one of my favorite places to fish. You should try it at night time. I won't say where you are at,,but I know where you are. Definitely try it at night.

Want to catch more halibut don't let your bait sit slowly reel your bait in and keep it in prespool so you're going to have to Palm your reel and just move it slowly across the bottom little bits at a time and when the fish hits you're already in free spool that it takes some the killer halibut technique from the shore

Thanks for the advice appreciate you 🙏🙏 I will make sure I keep that in mind and use that technique next time

flounder... a VERY nice flounder. Nice fillet job. Trivia for ya: only females get that big. Males only grow to like 12-15 inches.

@@HeavyDutyKingsOutdoor And just to correct myself, I think you're right... I think it is a halibut based on the fish's more overall diamond shape and tail. My apologies. After all, I do not know much about halibut fishing; I am a flounder fisherman, and I just assumed since it wasn't deeper sea and/or monster size, it must be a flounder. My ignorance. Either way, I bet it tasted GREAT! Enjoy the water and its bounty, my friend. 🎣

I'm giving you a like. You guys seem pretty cool I would love to fish with you. Nice fish. All that being said I'm from alaska. When you say you caught a monster halibut I have to say that was a baby. A nice average halibut in Alaska weighs somewhere between 20 and 40 lb anything over a hundred pounds is considered a big halibut. Anything over 200 lb is considered huge. Anything over 300 lb is considered a monster. My buddies and I were in a Halibut Derby off of Valdez. We went to a shelf about 4 hours off sure. We were only there about 20 minutes before we hooked into our first halibut. It was 160 lb. The next fish caught with 252 lb. Around 11 halibut that day and all of them were over a hundred pounds with the exception of some 20 to 40 pounders. The guy that caught the 252 pounder that year won the derby...... $ 15,000 is what the guy won. That was the first halibut he had ever caught in his life. I'm not sure exactly where you guys are but today I am in arizona. I would love to catch up with you guys and do some fishing. Keep up the good work and stay true to your fishing....... in other words always tell everybody your fish was bigger than it is. Make the story grandiose. You guys are true fisherman.
