- Get carried away with Solar Energy as Mr. G experiments outside on this Sunny Sunday and takes you on a "high flying" adventure . Finally, a good use for those extremely cheap garbage bags you bought years ago! So hold on to your hats and explore the friendly skies with Mr. G and his Solar Hot Air Balloon!
why are there so many mean comments?sure the filming could have been better but still, this i cool
Mr G I am extremely grateful for your videos. This is an awesome and simple project that I think would be very fun and easy to perform. I look forward to doing this. Thanks Mr G.
Thank you Mr. G, your idea are great for my to teaching the kids.
Hope that I can get more great interesting idea.
I made one with only one bag and it lifted off, although for a very little while (the hottest time of the day). But hey it was only one bag!
Now Im making a large one with 25 bags and will attempt aerial photography with it.
You are awesome, good job. Im sure many dads/kids find inspiration in your show. When my daughter grows up, this is the kind of stuff we will be doing together. So, thanks!
ahaha dang someone beat me to the balloon boy punch! Very Cool idea there Mr. G! As always thanks for sharing!
I hope my answer my friend
Can you keep this balloon in the air for a long time ?? Or it will suffer from the sun ?? How much afford to sunlight
i wonder if i can fly by holding my breath and standing in the sun lol, nice video , always creative
Looks like a killer way to litter. It's not like everyone who launches a bag in the air goes and picks it up after.
True, I mean if the balloon gets stuck in a tree chances are it'll stay there for several years.
Had one of these that was given to me as a kid. 35 years ago. It was a production thing ,very long and very thin, called solar something or other. Thought it was awesome as a kid. Stared at it for ages till it took off.
Very nice! Thank you for sharing. When it warms up..I WILL be trying this.
wow,the clouds seems so nice!:)

I remember watching this as a kid...this guy was great
@agnusdei420 sure did... watch "Quick and Healthy with Mr. G" to see exactly how I lost 65 lbs. since last season!
-- Mr. G
Mr. G I love your Channel. and I love your intro song, dont change a thing,
WOW YOU SHAVED OFF EVEN MORE POUNDS!
GREAT!
@MrCucundra
And retrieve and properly dispose of them when we're finished.
-- Mr. G
I remember my little brother had such a balloon, but not selfmade. And the first time we tried it was fixed to the ground with a light thread. Somebody stumbled across the thread, it ripped of and the balloon flew away. The only thing we could do was watching it getting smaller and smaller at the horizon. We never saw it again xD
btw, nice place, nice trees, nice wheather!
Don't listen to the people who say you suck. You are awesome!!!
I miss the summer so much when it's warm
Can we launch one of these into the air and say theres a little boy inside and call 911? THen maybe ill get my reality tv show! LOL
@hock105 Well, Mr. G didn't actually write the comment... it was Mr. G's dog, "Nutmeg".
-- Mr. G's other dog, "Lily"
P.S. Don't tell Mr. G we did this!
@2009letitrock A lot of places really. Ranging from books I've read to experiments I've performed in classrooms from grade school, high school, and College. I have found ideas from internet searches on "physics experiments", "science experiments at home" and related subject matter. Some of the ideas are more original, while others are common science experiments which have been performed by countless others before me.
Thanks for the question,
-- Mr. G
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I really appreciate your wisdom.
Sorry to tell you mate.... thats not a balloon that is a garbage bag.
I 〈3 Plebston ;) try this with a garbage bag and it won't work. It's just also black and made of the same kind of material. Once he traps air inside of the bag it is then a balloon. "A balloon is a flexible bag that can be inflated with a gas, such as helium, hydrogen, nitrous oxide, oxygen, or air." -wiki
Never trust Wiki everyone on their just post things based on their opinions, cheers...

I really have to wonder just how uneducated you are.
Cool stuff !
I just hope you followed the balloon and got it before it ends up in the sea or some precious rain forest XD
Seal with an iron rather than tape to save weight. The tape weighs a lot.
where was this recorded?
@lolli805
~ All of the videos are shot, edited, and produced by me. All music you hear, including the Theme songs were written, recorded, and produced 100% by me (including ALL vocals).
~ I do make a few AdSense dollars from companies wanting to advertise on my videos, but not nearly as much as what I spend in both personal time and materials.
~ This is Season3.
Thanks for the questions, and for watching my videos.
-- Mr. G
DON'T try this at home unless it is tethered!
The most beautiful thing I have ever seen!
cool love ur vids
do u need to have then all taped together or can u use it in a smaller scale
or wont it work if it is smaller because you need a certain amount of hot air to lift the bag
it's not a down draft that's making your balloon fall.. but a sort of side effect to your idea of this balloon.... you should know that the higher you get from the ground, the colder it gets. so basically, yes your balloon is getting heated and rising but gets colder and colder and the air inside making it drop back down.
what brand bags are you using? I think im using the wrong kind...
you may be the Superman of Science, but I'm just Superman
you know most of the time it was not floating, as in, in comparison to the ambient air, rather in comparison to the cooler air of the grass and the 'balloon's'' negligible warmer convex air. They say stuff like this kills wales..... by the way.
@RandomFactOfTheWeek1 i don't get it what ad?
I remember seeing one of these the other week in my local park. I wondered what it was!
mr.g could you show us how to make the balloon that you showed last which took flight?
Can you tell us how to make the boomerangs in the backround?
reminds me of my own attempts to fly...congrats on finally getting it up in the air!
Where do you get all the expriments?
Oh Mr.G you look great!
could you get a ticket for pullution if you let a ballon go?? serious question.
Careful. Your son might accidentally hide in there and then you'll have to call the media and have a massive chase after your bag only to find he was really hiding in your attic like you planned the whole time.
@RoPWU NO!... STRONG SUNLIGHT is the key here, but actually, cooler morning air is better because the air inside the balloon doesn't have to get as hot to become lighter than the surrounding air.
Thanks,
-- Mr. G
mr.g what is your favorite do try this a home video? thanks
dear mr.g where do you get the ideas for your show?
park ranger sees guy doing this and says ''hey no littering''
the guy says ''it hasn't hit the ground'', once its about to land guy catches it.and leaves with grin on his face.
Wait so why did you make this on a windy day?
how you fill the rectangular balloon with air ... have tried with a compressor but it takes too long: /
p.s cool show, love your projects; D
how do you make the second balloon?
@Hayesy15 I have made these with just 2 bags, but the 4 to 6 bag ones work better. The square one in the video was a 4 bag model.
Thanks, and GREAT question,
-- Mr. G
@braydenflog NEVER... I ALWAYS have retrieved any balloon I've launched. I usually tether these, but the winds on this day caused the balloons to stay rather low, and easy to track. I do suggest tethering these though.
-- Mr. G
he's the superman of science and he loves to play with fire... :D
Came here because of Detective Conan:
Case Closed Episode 849, I’m amazed
how did you make the one that actualy flew
Yo, Mr. G, how are things? I just stumbled back on you channel and haven't seen new videos lately :-)
How do you have so much extra time to do all the experiments? Other than relaxing, work, cooking (cleaning etc.).
@Mindpaint does it have 2 be black to atract heat?
@withaspoon94 So sorry, it is a staple element of the show. Sorry you hate it... I used to like to watch Gilligan's Island, but hated the theme song to that show too... but, it really wouldn't have been Gilligan's Island without it.
-- Mr. G
In which country do you live?
Can you do this during winter if the sun is out??
looked more like the balloon was entering thermals, thats why it was circling when it climbed. you might need a lighter or larger balloon to make it work better.
Hmmm. . .
The entire time, I was cheering the balloon on.
this could be helpful during a survival situation where i see an airplane or boat
did it take you long time to make a hot air balloon
@mindpaint Falcon is the boy that was supposedly in a big floating balloon a few months ago
mr.g is JACKED!
wats whith your boomerangs in the back
@Mindpaint dont mind haters of the song, i love it and have it stuck in my head all the time
@followthemoney100 im pretty sure the air doesn't have to leave the balloon to make it rise
all that matters is that the air inside is hotter than the air outside, which makes it rise. so basically if it was winter outside than normal air at room temperature in the balloon should still rise.
@AdmiralComrade Who is Falcon?
You should attach LEDs to them, and then launch it at night!
If you aren't, I'm going to.
mr g how does the balloon rise when you put it the sun
i got a ready one from the saussage-shape as gimmic from a colorful
magazine.
there is a holding-string attached to it
Were you in the coast guard?
i have a way to make the hot air ballon but instead u need a candle, a trash bag like mr. g, an old rag, wire cuters, and a old wire hanger. first u cut the wire hang in to four even peices about 5 inches if u dont have enough wire in one get another take the ends of the wires and twist them together and have them pointing north east south and west then u open the bag and atach the wires to the bag and bend the wires down to a point then u light the candle and let a buch of wax build up
@baklapharm I shot over 1.5 hours of video just to show you this 9 minutes. Sorry if you think it's too long, but I'm going for an actual show here, not just a video clip. If you don't like the show, simply don't watch it. No one is twisting your arm.
Thanks,
-- Mr. G
@98hellraiser and running after a plastic balloon throwing rocks at it... now that looks so much smarter right? Would love to see it :)
by the end, it was more like the 5th solar balloon launch of the year lol.
Sounds complicated and I have tried this and it didn't work
Omagawsh!!! It's Dr. House's Brother!!!
That's a cool radio in the background is it a vacuum tube radio?
polution much? how you expect to get it down?
It is a bit depressing watching a grown man do this by himself. Having said that...its totally something I would dig and do by myself🤣🤣😂!!
I think recording the launch with the camera makes it crash.
can you make these with one with a small plastic bag
can i use ur activity as a science project at my school?
I miss 2010
@Mindpaint isnt that the name of the balloon kid?
I would have loved that when I was a kid... oh, I still am a kid.
the G in Mr.g stands for gangsta! :D
@Rokethound01 Some VERY generic brand I bought at Menards. Menards is a lot like Lowes, or Home Depot.
Thanks,
-- Mr. G
i actually got an idea for this lol.nice vid
these videos are amazing
Would a plastic bag work?
I feel like the weird guy from American Dream when I watched this
I think the reason it's going down is be uses the wind cools it off
its superman!@!@ lol nice videos ! i wanna fly in one lol =P
Think about what you said for a moment. Hes in he middle of a field. A few miles from his home. The balloon only self inflates. Whats wrong with this picture now David?
