Not unusual to me been doing this stuff in a Territory for a good few years now. This trip was really just a look around to see if I wanted to come back for a full on trip.
amazing how capable this thing is, just got the Mrs one as a daily absolutely loving it. Contemplating selling my current 4x4 Nissan Terrano not very roomy for a 6ft bloke and getting one of these, too broke to afford a cruiser or patrol
I'm 6ft 3 and it's a very comfortable car. With a few mods and some good driving they are very capable. Low range would be a nice addition but I've been doing ok so far.
how do you think an rtv ute would go out there? with its rear locking diff? i would love to put a awd terry awd front diff and transfer case when money permits...
Track's can change a lot so I couldn't say for sure. When I was there a lot had recently been graded. If you play it smart it would still be a nice place to explore.
Hey mate, how much money your reckon you have put into the car fully. Im looking to do something similar to my territory and want to know what basic upgrades I can do to it first to get me on the tracks. Love the content.
I've put lot's into it as a lot of it has been trial and era. To do a lift kit like this would be around 3.5k in parts. Add all the new bushes and part's on top even more. Wheels and tyre's 2k.
Any local Australian knows why Ford Australia didn't make a territory more capable or sort of?since the starting base wasn't too bad , I've seen the TV advertisement that the territory pulling a caravan on the dunes, well with a territory like this it may be able to do so , stock territory are more suitable for snowy terrains or gravel road. They did lots of special models high performance cars, like for what? To go max 110 kmh ? That's ridiculous have all those v8 6 i turbo going so slow that the car is even suffering because does not breathe enough air .. Holden same , in all these years of production they could only came up with sedans wagons rwd ! and no one decided to do a car for real Australian conditions! They left toyota do all the business where Ford and Holden could have their own market here in Australia. The part that I don't really get is that both Ford and gm/ Holden they both have capable cars in their line-up around the world, in Australian country where there's 60/70% of desert they got v8 rwd .!?! I really don't get that . But anyway your territory looks sick mate !
I can't answer most of that. I'd say it had to do with marketing and cost's. I really wish ford had done a RTV type version of the Territory. A 30mm lift, bit bigger tyre's and a rear e locker would of been cool. It may have got more people interested in offroading them from the beginning.
@TerritoryOffroad poor marketing choice I'd say because the car sold where still on expensive side . Building a super performance v8 that can go 260 kmh wouldn't have been that cheaper than make a rugged car, what is the main need in Australia. And yeah definitely a rtv more rugged territory would have catch more attention , I believe, but unfortunately we wouldn't ever know. What I can see is that more and more Australians are starting appreciate more those territory now , or anyway after the car got discontinued, because yeah is definitely something that could give some fun and you are the proof with your car ! Unfortunately I'm in WA or else I'd buy ine and guve it to you you to modify, you surely know what you doing!
unusual uploading!Territory. 🙂

Love Mt Disappointment, that Spur road is tough on a bike.
