Brilliant interview, puts a lot of big name journalists to shame with carefully considered questions that lead to insightful answers from the developer. Really great work, would love to see you do more interviews in the future!
Hey Mike seems like a really cool guy, I really liked Thomas but I had no idea that he was in the process of making another game so this video was also very informative.
I've gotta commend Bithell here for making the decision to "pull back" on the art style. It looks really fantastic, the final version. I just went and played the flash game, and I have to say, Bithell clearly learned a lot about how to make a game feel good. The way the characters stretch to bounce in the Unity version feels much more like they're sort of "kicking off" the ground instead of just sort of moving along a vertical axis.
There was some real emotion there at 5:00, way to keep it together. I probably would've been made useless if someone I admired told me my work helped them in someway.
hey Super Bunnyhop I loved your cameo in TB's Q+A session ;) Great interview and I look forward to seeing more and more. I always love it when Super Bunnyhop post a new video. Thanks.
Wow. It is kind of amazing how much there is to learn from the final product of any work and how much more there was to learn while making it. Mike is always fun to listen to. Also, about stealth games, the zoomed in, up close perspective relays the tension and suspense of sneaking more than the puzzle-solving, find-the-route 'school of design'. Both have their pros and cons, as you two obviously discussed, but for the purposes of the theme, the first puts it forward better, as far as I can tell. It does mean that the design suffers, though.
Every time a Bunnyhop video is uploaded I always get a notification for it and the video uploaded prior as well, which I've already watched. I usually don't get notifications from any of my subscriptions, but for some reason I always get them from this channel, and when I do it always does that weird double video thing. Anyway, really cool interview. Interesting insight in to how the game was made. I flirted with the idea of learning Unity myself a while ago, but having literally zero experience with anything to do with coding, I just found it way too daunting and didn't even get started. But if Thomas Was Alone was done by a beginner (even if they were probably far less of one that me) then maybe I can wrap my head around it too.
This video sold me on Thomas Was Alone and Volume. I am enjoying Ground Zeroes quite thoroughly but there's no doubt some of the more rudimentary top down puzzle-esque gameplay was largely lost. Hats off to Mr. Bithell!
I find this "Metal Gear radar" game idea to be very interesting. I haven't played on a PlayStation console (I got both PS portable generations, oddly enough), but I quite liked the stealth section in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which has that system to a slightly broken extent. I even went back to it despite Zelda having run away from the castle and Ganondorf.
Really good interview, George. However, I think you need to loosen up a bit more in your side of the conversation. There are a few moments where Mike is obviously just having some fun that you could play along with a bit more, because it came out kind of awkward this way. But, otherwise, fantastic stuff.
This looked like the most pretentious hipster game of all time. I got it in a bundle and decided to give it a shot. I fell in love with it. Bravo to this guy, teaching me again not to judge a book by its cover.

I came to Super Bunnyhop through Mike on twitter, when he posted the Critical Close-up for MGS2, so there's that!
Beautiful and inspiring.
WHERE ARE THE BLOOPERS? the bloopers are so good!
THEY ENDED UP LOOKING WAY AWKWARD BECAUSE THEY FULL OF INSIDE JOKES WITH NO CONTEXT
Super Bunnyhop POST THEM ANYWAY
I LIVE CAPS LOCK TOO
LOVE* I LOVE CAPSLOCK!
never heard of it. looks good. put in my watch list for 50 off
What do you think of Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes, George? Or will you be doing video about it?
ssevf
Yeah I'd expect that of 4th. But I was just asking as the 5th game's prologue is so short.

Coooooool.
Bithell? Is that his real name? How cool his that for a game dev? Too bad he pronounces it wrong though.
George's reaction at 5:00 made me lose it :D
He's adorable, isn't he?!
He looks like TomSka
