My favorite part of the videos are Phil's camcorder "commentary", glad he also included some of the "making of" the videos from the album. You could see how well they got along, that's not the case in some bands.
Apparently Mike really liked that white sg guitar and planned to use it on the tour, but was stolen beforehand, so the only time we could see him using it was on the mama promo video ....and here on this home movie
Mike with a Gibson SG Custom! Presumably rented for the session & video. He wasn't a huge Gibson fan, and said in a 1977 interview that he hated Gibson acoustic guitars - 'they sound rubbish'! There is also a picture of him at 'The Farm' in 1981 with an 12-string SG Melody Maker.
The art of working a tape machine, we should be ashamed that form has been lost….along with the sonic and production qualities it brought. Shame on us.
Yes digital is TOO easy IMO, if everyone has Abbey Road in their laptop the result is squillions of unwanted recordings being made all the time. There was already too much recorded music in the world thirty years ago!!

Imagine having to lug an Emulator over to wherever there was a landline phone to get the sound effect nowadays!
Phil with the trumpet is hilarious
Videotape was the latest thing in 1983.
Illegal Alien Trumpet Improvisation 3:50
This so awesome
8:44 - The Godfather
Tony is the crux of this band/group

The Mama video was probably filmed in July or August 1983.
They take so long you'd think it was Ben-Hur ^_^
Abacab isn't the only Genesis album with horns on it then
LOL Tony @ 5:25-5:40

Mike's guitar sounds thin. I wonder if he constantly went directly into the board.
You aren’t hearing the board mix you are hearing a camcorder mic picking up the monitors that’s why everything sounds thin.
sadly there worst album !
Mama is their greatest ever song in my opinion.
It would be very sad if true. And your spelling sucks
