That poster for Noon is so cool! It's quite the fun, quirky puzzle game. Highly recommended. Also, I love how the cover for Lain PS1 reads, "Make Me Sad" right next to the $800 price tag. Makes me sad, indeed!
Looks like a really nice place. Also good video, thank you for that great tour of the store. The kid in me would probably spend a whole day there, and then I'd be back the next day too. I love retro stores like that, they feel like small museums sometimes. Oh and I never saw the Japanese versions of the Game Gear games before (their boxes, and box art), they look amazing, way better than the North American version in my opinion.
I knew this was in the area but found it by complete accident when I was staying in Ikebukuro last year. Like all the other Super Potato locations I enjoy browsing but I've never actually bought anything because they're super pricey. I remember this one being super crammed and I was flying out that day so I didn't spend much time there unfortunately!
動画作ってありがとうございます。お疲れ様です。🍻 Cool packing/shipping tip: Before you go back, you can ship your clothes in boxes rather than the heavy books. I took my books back in a backpack and a carry on luggage. There's a company that can take your bags to the airport and leave them there for you to pick up, ヤマト運輸 very convenient.
I've only been to this location once, back in '06. Shadows of the Tusk on the Saturn has full English. Ironically, it was never released outside of Japan. Odd, huh? I used to do videos like this back in the early days of TH-cam, back when you could only upload videos 10 minutes long. I've just lived in Japan so long that I rarely feel the motivation to do so. So, I appreciate seeing your videos like this.
@@stevethefishdotnet thank you! I thought shadows of the tusk was in English but I wasn’t 100% sure so I didn’t mention it. I miss the old more casual days of TH-cam as well!
I've been to this one! Bought a shirt from them, too. They were actually pretty nice with any questions I had, my Japanese is extremely limited. But it was a neat shop to wait out a huge storm in. I had a better experience here than in the Akiba location.
That location was TIGHT, as in they maximized it for stock, so it can be a bit hard to squeeze through if it's busy or you're a larger person. I did see and bought stuff at that location that wasnt available in akihabara.
I probably would’ve bought a GBA just to check out that Shin Chan card. And I bought that Hello Kitty GBP but only paid about half that price in Yokosuka.
It never ceases to amaze me how great Japanese game stores are at maximizing space! Also, that Frame Gride game that was next to Psychic Force 2012 is an interesting little title from the Armored Core team. It's basically their take on Virtual-On with the aesthetics of shows like Panzer World Galient or Vision of Escaflowne.
the only reason I didnt pick up frame gride is I got it at another store a few videos earlier! excited to play it! I love escaflowne and panzer world mechs!
Can you confirm if they still sell the enamel pins at the counter? Specifically the potato itself? I collect pins and mine was lost during a home renovation. 😔
I've been to this one. I wouldn't recommend shopping here but it's nice to poke around. I recall seeing Vectrex games including the clear overlay for the screen.
oh thats awesome! I was able to find a really cool Virtua fighter 1 promo clear file that was given out to arcade owners from just around 400 yen. There's some stuff if you dig!
@pixxellie that's a steal. Honestly, I'm holding out and just saving up for when I see that one life changing artifact that will complete me. I most likely will never find a working Vectrex right?
Great video! Would you mind sharing the exact location in the description? I am planning to travel to japan in December and I definitely wanna visit the store
When I went to Tokyo, I ended up only going to this Super Potato. I thought it was nice just for looking around and seeing some classic stuff, but realised I was never gonna buy anything and just didn't bother going to the Akihabara one.😅
Ikebukuro in itself is like a secret Akihabara. A lot of the same nerd shops, anime goods stores, and game stores are all over the neighborhood, just more spread out and far cheaper.
Fantastic video dear fellow old japanese games collector...did i read well? Theyre actually offering just 1000 Yen for Rabbit on the Sega Saturn?????? xD Quite the cheapskates xD I own a CIB copy of WS Pocket Fighter..that one sure has gone up a lot as of late!
I think the selection for the popular systems were low because they were too popular to have "new" old stock and people rarely bring them in to be resold.
Leaving japan from a 12 day trip. If you want to go shopping for games please skip super potato and hit the book off/hard offs, and suragaya’s!! Best bangs for your buck super potato’s should be called super overpriced no joke. eBay prices are cheaper than this place
Super Porato in Akihabara is the N1 Foreigner Trap when it comes to retrogaming with their inflated prices. you definitely dont know where the good shops are. LOL
@@pixxellie Yeah, whatever, they have 6 shops, 3 in Osaka, 1 in Nagoya, 1 in Akihbara and another I dont remember, but ther prices are the same everywhere.
I personally can't recommend Super Potato. If anything it's a top tier tourist trap.

You have a calming voice, so much so that I wish I had my heart at sega retro to watch it more often.
thank you!!
Ah so cool! Thanks for another great one! I got to go to super potato around 2010 for the first time! Love the clothes with the patches too!🔥
nice! wish I could go back to those 2010 prices

super potato for me feels more like a beautiful little videogame museum. I don't buy anything but looooove browsing!
It definitely has that vibe! Reminds me a bit of video games NY in NYC.
Super Potato is all about the retro ambiance. Trader tends to have better prices, but at Super Potato you pay for the experience.

lol! at super potato we are all rich!

I bet the Metal Slug Complete cover is trying to look like Tamiya military kit illustrations.
that is an astute observation! you may be on to something!
id be so awkward and bump into everything because of how (fat) and clumsy i am. man, i miss shops like this, thanks for sharing!
Designed for Japanese bodies 💀
Yeah you have to be really careful if you're wearing a backpack in japanese game stores.
don't let that stop you from the exhilarating hunt for retro games!

happy to help!!!
Sega really needs to re-release "Virtual On" for modern consoles ala the Arcade Archives line
Seems like a relaxing little store
it is!
I always wonder about Live A Live pronunciation. Both "Live"s are pronounced the same as in alive or like Lives without the 's'.
it's a confusing one for sure!
Metal Jesus Rocks and his E-beg crew bought up all the games already from there 😥
I heard he sucked them up with the poltergeist 3000
hi sharpf sf1 snes tv witth own joystick and panasonic q console how much ?

Complete in box? Maybe? Wild guess based on the PS2 Rez possibly coming boxed and with the accessory. A variation of "mib" - mint in box.
Confirmed: 24m 35s.
