      I will definitely say that a lot of guys take pockets for granted. Transitioning made me realize how rare good pockets are on women's clothing. So yea, purses, fanny packs, knapsacks and the like are life savers.
      Now my goal having this knowledge is building an outfit to maximize my inventory space!

    My mom's been using a garden knife like that for fifteen years. She swears by it. When they started marketing them as a "survival knife" I laughed.

    • @josephbenson6301
      @josephbenson6301 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well... if you think about it... it is a sort of survival knife and probably more useful for surviving that a "survival" knife.
      Besides... when your fighting off cocaine bear or some thug intent on your demise, don't you want to know the depth of penetration?

  • @Garuvul
    @Garuvul ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I got my barebones garden knife before it was cool...to use in gardening. It's actually really good, though not the sharpest. The weight helps with driving it into the ground. It doesn't rust, but I keep my garden tools oiled between uses. Spades aren't comparable. Hori hori (this type of garden knife) are super useful, so are the weeding sickles (though the sickles are disposable because you pound them into rocks!)

  • @Celestatiune
    @Celestatiune 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I work at a botanical garden and the hori-hori (aka Japanese gardening knife) is probably one of our most used digging tools, along with trenching shovels. Hand trowels really aren't much help unless you are dealing with very soft soil, like that has just been tilled or potting soil. The knives are good for compacted or clay soil, for sawing through tree roots, digging out or cutting through chunks of soft rock or concrete overfill, digging out broadleaf weeds and volunteer trees without totally destroying turf or nearby plants. I cannot speak for the specific knife you got being good or bad, but 30$ isn't crazy for something of decent quality. A lot of the gardening tools you'll find at box stores, particularly pruners/loppers really are not at all durable enough to be suitable for everyday use.
    You will also not be growing azaleas from bulbs :) Sorry for the long-ass truther post

    We have to (well we're supposed to) use the slice knives at work because ceramic is safe and metal is not, apparently. They work pretty good for fiberglass insulation with a brand new blade but other than that you're better off with just a normal decent quality metal blade. And they do dull, I don't know if you can sharpen them I'm not gonna be the one to try

    Dr.Squatch and it's advertising bs infuriates me. I am glad you brought up the tasted tobacco comparison cause it 100% is that bullshit. The commercials saying "most of the soaps on the market are classified as SYNTHETIC DETERGENT". As if that means anything. But they know it doesn't mean anything and they are targeting the people who think synthetic = bad, natural = good, and detergent = laundry/bleach. Even though those associations are often completely untrue and or irrelevant. AAAAGHHH.

    Far as wallets - sailcloth. I've been using the same one for 5 years in my back pocket and aside from a folded corner it shows seriously 0 signs of wear. Mine is a flowfold but I'm willing to bet they're all similar.
    Edit: ALSO do not buy the cheap Wahl battery shavers. I got one on the reputation of the big boy and it refuses to operate without the battery after a few years, and when plugged in it barely runs. I did weekly cleaning and monthly oiling. Pretty disappointing.

    Firstly, this holiday season, if any of you are planning on donating canned goods, please also see if you can donate can openers. They sell them at a lot of dollar stores and it's shocking how few homeless people actually have them.
    Secondly, when donating canned goods, please be sure that what you're donating seems safe. If you wouldn't trust giving your family something then please don't give it to someone with less access to healthcare than you.

    Fun fact about the safety razors: the blades are so small that if you ever found a small slit in the wall next to your bathroom sink, it probably has a pile of these blades in the bottom of it.
