  • A weekend back and forth to the hospital as Jess had her now third surgery in just over a year.
    Recovery took a bit longer than anticipated, but we have her home again.
    Meanwhile, the sheep continue to be my lifeline of distraction but need to get a few things off the to-do list as the weather looks to MAYBE want to turn around next week and pull me into the fields.

    I also had to laugh when you said your kids are always your babies. My youngest is 42, and my children(!) are always my babies. " I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be." I call it the mom mantra 😊

      That’s a quote from my favorite children’s book “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. And it’s so true that they are always our baby. Mine will be 33 in July, and I will always think of him that way in times of stress or distress. It’s nice to have adult discussions with him, but my mommy heart struggles to remember that he is an adult.

    One of the most important things for me as a person in her 20s who is sick, is knowing that my parents are okay and do what they need to do to get self care in or see a therapist, have a day with their friends, anything that isn’t just watching me suffer and feeling worse. The only way they can help me is if they do what they need to help themselves. Thinking about you guys ❤

    • @cherisef5524
      @cherisef5524 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Some people don't have any money, so we have to be creative when it comes to self care, Others don't have much time to go do things like going out or places. So even if for that day all that can be managed is a nice bath, with scented water, and candle glowing as one lays there to relax. And for me most times, that is what I have been doing for many years, both my kids have serious and painful medical issues. I'm divorced, so money is very tight. I have the same condition, so going for a walk is not an option. I so agree self-care is so important. Even Jess has to be sure she does nice things for herself, you tend to heal faster.

    I had to endure my own female cancer diagnoses and surgery, so when you started talking about laparoscopic surgery and being cut open again and how tender and painful it is afterwards, I could only flash back to my own recovery and how long it took to get back to my old baseline. it really is something that only another woman who's gone through it would truly understand, and I empathize and send my thoughts and support as best I can while being many thousands of miles away. Im so happy that your daughter has such a wonderful family to love and support her through the entire thing. Doing what she's doing on her own is not something I'd wish on anyone.

    So glad Jess has got through the surgery. The pain is a healing sign. Each day will get better & once home she will become better every day. All of you have our love. People forget that Mark is affected too cos we don’t see him much in the videos.

    Just a couple days after seeing your lovely daughter's video telling of her cancer; I found out I have cancer. Surgery will be done later, only if the chemo and radiation fails. I'm sure you hear a lot of cancer stories, so that's enough about me, lol. Please know that I find your motherly concerns quite normal and not overly dramatic at all. Your family is doing great; to be there when needed is really what she needs right now. 💕

    I feel for Jess as she goes for chemo. I had breast cancer & was put on the red devil (even the sound of it caused my nerves to crumble.) I shaved my head within the first week because so much was falling out. She is in my thoughts & prayers no two people have the same experiences because we are individuals with different issues. I just hate that it kills so much good while killing the bad. She has her good little pup to console & help her keep her Spirits high. God bless you all as you are there to support each other. God is our healer so trust Him. He is Absolutely Good.

    Women feel ‘feelings’ (whatever those are), Men feel ‘full’…because…reasons. It’s amazing how no matter what life brings the sheep still eat, the lambs are still born and need our help and our fields keep growing. God blesses us so richly even in the midst of trial.

    As a child with no children, and a mom in heaven, I’m so grateful she didn’t see my last 10 years. Four back surgeries and open heart surgery, I can’t imagine what she would have gone through. The pain I was in and worrying about not being able to get to retirement age working would have been too much for her to bear. So I can imagine how you must feel, Sandi, watching your child hurting. Lots of hugs to both.

      We are in a similar situations and I think you know it's how well the pain is controlled coming out of surgery is how well you do afterwards. I've had 3 back surgeries and 4 neck and I became disabled in my 30's. I had no choice because I couldn't sit or stand and walking was limited. I've been very lucky and had very good hospitals and surgeons but my problems will never be fixed.

He's been pretty healthy since he turned 12 and very healthy as an adult. Thing can work out very well. My prays are for great health for your beautiful daughter.
