- A little bit of everything with this video... We are in full swing with spring planting, and somehow avoiding marital strife in the meantime.
In the barn, we were a couple days late, but treated our sheared sheep with their second lice treatment. However, I found a little something on a ewe's jaw that needed attended to... let's just say sheep dermatology will NOT be added to my resume.
Our new grand-puppy gave us a show in the lamb pen this week... needless to say she's perhaps more entertainment value than sheepdog.
And... Teddy and Pita got a new home!! Except, the new neighbours aren't very welcoming.

She’s turning into a good little sheep dog. Love how the pups come into the barn. 1st Kenzie, 2nd Lucy then Piper is the caboose. Love them and the sheep and this family. 😊

Who else is happy to see her happy smiling face again? I don't know how she made it through Lambing and what was happening with Jess. She is one of the hardest working woman and is a absolute champ. ❤
I love how piper got her courage towards the end. She was terrified of the sheep at first, and by the end she figured out she could have some control. Too funny.
Piper will be opening her very own sheep herding school very soon. So interesting to watch the lambs initially bullying Piper, and over time she figured out how to be proactive with them. Piper's pretty smart!
Sandi, I hope you know I was helping you pick up that rock -- tilting my head, moving my shoulders side to side, probably my tongue was involved as well. I'll bet I'm not the only one!
Right, I saw how timid she was at first trying to climb up Sandy's back then she was keeping them in their place within minutes. LOL She's a natural.
About the head, shoulder, and tongue 'assistance,' I will gladly announce that I did that...(along with talking to the tractor and Sandi, and had feet and legs in the mix).... Tee hee!! I guess that this is one of the outcomes of watching Sandi work her magic! Is there a chapter of farmers anonymous I could join?

I definitely intend to go back and watch this whole episode again. I know I couldn't have seen everything. Especially with the baby sheep bullying the baby dog. So funny!
Of course every episode seems to need rewatching. I always say I'm going to go back and see it again and again.
And maybe a stone walkway for the cabin.
Or an outdoor fire pit cooking area.

Piper is growing up fast. She went from getting a head butt from a couple of lambs, to trying to seek protection behind you and climb into your hoodie to staring down on the lambs and starting to herd them. I'm so glad that you recorded it because you and Carissa didn't see it as it happened.

PITA IS A GOLDEN GIRL!!!! I can't tell you how happy this made me. I had a pit in my stomach when you said you were taking the remaining lambs to market because I thought she was going with them. We have a similar barter system with our neighbor across the street. I make jams and jelly in the summer and can them. The neighbor has a fantastic backyard vegetable garden. We trade. When our other neighbor came over to help my 79 yr. old husband with our roof last winter I gave them some jars, too. Sometimes our other neighbor’s wife (from Ukraine) will bake some goodies and send them over. Kind of a cultural exchange. Piper, even though she’s a Beagle, might make a possible sheepdog. 😆

Wow, puppy Piper is figuring out how to herd all on her own. It’s so darn cute seeing her go from running away and hiding from bullying lambs to then proactively figuring out she could control the movement of a bunch of lambs.
And... a Becci Joke for you: If you are “Rolling” the soil; shouldn't you be planting Oats instead of Beans? I've heard of eating Rolled Oats; but, I’ve never eaten rolled Beans.

This is glacier run off, where the glaciers roll over the ground Cushing big boulders. SE Michigan has the same geology from the border with Ohio to just past the Thumb. This I also why Lake Huron, Lake Ontario have so many rocks and stones despite their Sandy bottoms. -Former MI born and raised.

You have another crop to add to your cash flow- stones. When there is time, make contacts with landscapers who need them. The stone bucket on the Fendt would make loading them easy. So glad Jess is doing well with her recovery and wishing her the best with chemo.
On Tuesday the 23rd of May I will be having surgery to have a benign mass removed from my right breast. Happy mothers day to Sandy and all the mommas in here. Sending prayers to all of you and Jess for her continuing journey

You should use the iodine that you use for lamb’s umbilical cords to cover open wounds, I dramatically reduces the chances of infection. Edit: OMFG Piper just taught herself to herd sheep because she was scared. As soon as she figured out they were afraid of her, most of her fear was over

I was grinning from ear to ear as Piper was trying to play and the lambs thought otherwise at one point. She actually was frantically trying to go under, around, or over you for security! That was soooo funny! She may turn out to be an awesome sheep herder!
I was quite surprised at the lambs' weight. You are doing something right. The tail-enders seem to be more uniform pounds than ever. Even looking at how much Teddy and Pita has gained, then seeing them side by side with the golden girls, was remarkable. They grew so fast!!
I'm so happy that Jess is still doing well and that all of you have prepared for the last leg of her journey. My prayers and thoughts are never ceasing as I await the final judgement that this portion of her life is over. I also asked the Lord to give you some rest and peace of mind and heart. Being 'weary to the bone' doesn't help with all the numerous farm responsibilities, or the safety that comes with it.
Sandi,you are a remarkable, honest and genuine person that I respect and appreciate. You give my days of late, some sparkles and smiles! Never stop being you! Piper playing with the bottle babies was sooo cute! FYI for concerned audience members: Getting pushed and head butted by the kids isn't enough to hurt her, even when she rolled.
In the food vs I think I'd have put pizza against burritos and fries vs tots (pizza and fries). I don't remember the first choices but I'd take non-dairy ice cream (Oatly) over popsicles, but it's hard because I have frozen fruit bars (Outshine) full of pineapple chunks that are amazing when just thawed to a firm slush. I'd say that choice depends on my mood though; sometimes I get a real craving for sour fruits and the Outshine bars are amazing then. Tacos over hot dogs for sure, and burgers over whatever the other choice was, lol. 😅 I'd say that most of these depend on my mood.
Outshine bars are the best. My favorite flavor is lime and on a hot summer day, nothing tastes better!
Absolutely loved watching Piper with the bottle babies! At first she was totally wimping out before she realized that she can play their game.. too cute! 😂
Watched her blog yesterday and she looks great. She truly enjoyed her shopping trip with her friend.

I actually get sudden nausea just from hearing the words “Doctor Pimple Popper”. The funny thing is that I was a bedside and ER nurse for 30 years. Not much really sets off my gag reflex, but dermatology just got to me big time. Apparently it’s a thing that crosses species for me. Uuurrgghh.
I’m continuing to hold Jess and the rest of your family in my thoughts and heart. Best wishes and much respect from north Texas.

The canola is soooo beautiful! It reminds me of the superbloom of the poppies we had out here (Southern California) a couple years ago, except those were bright orange.

I can't believe it! Around min 07:00 you can clearly see the little dog is being bullied by the sheep 😅😅 they even ganged up on him!
After a few moments, the dog finally gets sick of it and stands his ground, and you turned around and saw him that exact moment and asked him " What was that?", as if he was misbehaving.
It was so, so funny to watch, a whole saga in itself ❤❤❤

I had to smile at your Mother's Day comment. My parents were Kansas cattle, hay and some row crop farmers. Every Mother's Day we would move cattle early (to me) morning and then plant soybeans the rest of the day. Many more Happy Mother's Day to you!
