Most people think of dividend investing as a slow way to build long-term wealth, but in my experience, I've made more dividend income and have seen more dividend income growth these last four years than I thought possible. In this video, I'll be sharing how much money I made with dividend investing over these last four years, and will also show how my dividend stock portfolio will continue to grow over the coming decades.
The ideas and opinions presented in this video are meant for informational and entertainment purposes only, are not intended to serve as a recommendation to buy or sell any security in any account, and are not an offer or sale of a security. They are also not research reports and are not intended to serve as the basis for any investment decision.
Started investing in August 2022 and just about to hit 14k in my portfolio and just passed 800 per year of dividend income.
Great job my friend!
@@rynewilliams Thsnks.
dang 5.7% is pretty high. careful with yield traps
Nice
can you share stocks / etfs you are benifiting from ? :)
I started dividend investing Feb 1st of this year(after getting debt free) I have just passed 100 a year in dividends. I’m happy I have found this channel
Great job, thank you so much for watching!
Congrats on 4 years 💪 Didn’t realize our dividend anniversaries were so close 🔥
Same to you man! Let’s keep climbing 📈
I just hit 100k in my portfolio I started 5 years ago. I scheduled to hit 3k in dividend income. I remember my first dividend it was 0.01 cent from public storage. The marathon continues.
Man you’re on fire! Keep climbing 👏
I personally use my investments to cover utilities, northern Texas with gas/water/electricity/internet/cellphone its monthly cost is about $800. I get about $1040 monthly dividends, from my job I just need about $300 a week for the rest. Having $600 a week to invest/save plus security of been able to afford to lose your job is something everyone should aim for.
I just found your page and downloaded your spreadsheet. One of my retirement finds isn't on Google finance, is there any way to modify it to be able to find other tickers?
Unfortunately, not that I’m aware of. There are other data providers you can pay for that might offer data for a larger number of tickers
I always wanted to trade crypto for a long time but the volatility in the price has been very confusing to me although I have watched many TH-cam videos about it but still find it difficult to understand
Having an investment adviser is the best way to go about the market right now especially for near- retirees, I have been in touch with a coach for a year now mostly becus I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with recurring market conditions netted over $320k in profits so far, it clears the is more to the market that we the AVG don't know that Investment advisor's know.
@miguelh..merryman1800can she assist me with my trade crypto
We started around the same time and pretty much at the same spot. Except I have half Div half growth but I am planning to move more towards dividends. Keep it up
That's awesome that we're at about the same spot...you keep it up as well!
I think this is a good example as to why investing in ETFs is the best long term option unless the goal is to dabble and not retire early. I spread 90% (JEPI/JEPQ/SCHD) equally in my 🔥 account and 100% of my 401k into ETFs. It isn't as predictable to pick and choose a small number of companies.
I started my WSM position because of you, and while I was late to the party at 200 a share, its done quite well!
Better late than never. Wild to see what that stock has done 👏
Bought 19*WSM on May 15 2022 at $110.
I started early januari this year. I bought Nvidia shares... Also bought shares of my local bank (10% yield). ETF's, US stocks, local stocks. I didn't really focus on dividend stocks, but I do now. I'm expecting around $500 in dividends this year.
Nice!
Always a pleasant surprise when it's more than you thought! Things are looking solid man. This month is looking to be a great dividend payer for me.
True that man! Keep up the good work
Jarod here from Blossom - Great video this is super encouraging. Glad to follow along in your journey
Jarod thank you man! Keep up the great work
Today is my official one month mark of dividend investing, love your spreadsheet I would recommend it to anyone. There is something about seeing your daily income go up that makes it so rewarding.
Thank you my friend! Congratulations on getting started with investing. Keep up the great work 👏
Nice job Ryne. I have been investing for 10 years. Your dividend investing for the past 4 years is fantastic.
Thank you my friend! I appreciate all of your support
Started investing 9 years ago also with an Acorn account, later switch to Vanguard. Even though I mostly focus on growth rather than dividend, I'm going to be passing the $20k total dividend this year so it does compound fairly quickly.
Nice! That's awesome you've been able to build up that much in dividends in less than 10 years of investing. Truly inspirational
Started investing seriously Dec 2023, account balance was below 200 dollars in December. Starting late in life but with the stocks I currently own will receive 800 dollars this year in dividends. I'm a value investor who looks for value and dividends plus sell covered calls on my stocks. Your channel was the first investment channel I subscribed to. 😀
Wow you are on a roll my friend! Thank you so much for subscribing...I'm honored
You're an inspiration to even us gray beards (I'm 60 & have a smaller portfolio). Keep it going & thanks for the spreadsheet 😊
Thank you my friend. I truly appreciate the kind words. That means a lot 🙌
I was dumb just started this year. Im 50k in at 5% ytd P&l love it. Focusing on income investing my heavy hitters are boring but reliable voo vym schd all my drip from my other investments goes mainly to voo and schd.
Love your content
Thank you my friend! Congratulations on getting started
July 2023, $7,000 invested so far and this months dividends is $210+ waiting on 2 company’s to post. I am up 35% from start
Nice!
Awesome! showing this to my daughter who just got her first job. 👍
I hope she enjoys it, thank you for sharing the video. I wish I would've put the money from my first job into the market!
27, got about 150k in net worth. I rarely buy stocks and try to stick to ETFs but the ones I own are O, WPC, V, and Lowes
Rn I’m about 35% cash
Nice ones!
Really cool overview. Keep it going!! Just wondering if you do celebrate your milestones? When I hit a big milestone, I usually do something special (go on a fancy dinner with the wife, buy something that is on my wishlist of buy something for the kids) to keep me extra motivated 🙂
Thank you! I’d like to start doing that with certain milestones for sure. Once I hit $100k, it would be fun to take my lady out and celebrate.
I buy a bottle of Dom when i hit a planned milestone. Never drink it outside of said goal achievements so it feels more special that way.
That’s very cool. I should do that with tequila haha
Been investing since 2019 and I’m so close to hitting 100 a year in dividends
You got this! That'll be an awesome milestone
Great job! Next month will be my 3 year anniversary and turning just 22yo
Wow, great job my friend! Keep climbing
Started last fall/winter.
Currently 348 shares of SCHD, and will be putting 2023/24 Roth contributions into building a costco position.
1078/yr and I’m addicted. I’ll start building outside my Roth in 2025.
Heck yea, great job my friend. Very impressive SCHD position 👏
What a year 2022 was! The year I decided to get serious about investing as well! 😂
Im a few months from my second yeah into investing being complete. Im at 15k, did fall into yeild traps, and not so good companies, sold out of them. Now 60 percent goes to SCHD, VOO, DGRW, and JEPI, and other 40% goes to individual stocks.
My Roth has just over 5K with those same four ETFs getting 20% and amazon getting the rest. Well, last year, been 100% into my regular brokerage this last year, want to retire at 55 if possible, am 38 now, and i see the light at the end of the tunnel.
You got this my friend!
@@rynewilliams indeed
Just a little over one year! Yes, I know it’s a bit late, but better late than never, correct?! 0:38
Absolutely, you're doing great man!
"And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which i rebuilt my life."
Thanks for introducing me to WSM last year. My total return as of today is 82% lol. Best performer by a wide margin!
I’m happy it’s worked out for you my friend!
@@rynewilliams For all of us! Gotta love that 26% divy hike!!
Been investing since 91 ,unfortunately took money out to pay medical bill then half to the ex . I figure I took all the money I put it in out and all the money I have is profits . So start early , now getting 21000 a year in dividends combined
Holy cow, that's a lot of dividends!
I'm sorry to hear about the ex. That's a great yearly dividend
Great stuff Ryne! Insane to see what the portfolio can turn into after 20+ years of compounding & dividend growth. Keep it up 😎🔥🔥
Man it's going to be glorious!
I appreciate this video. I’m literally just getting started!
Thank you my friend! Congratulations on getting started
I think investing in Tobacco, oil & gas fetch high dividends.
That they do
I also started 4 years ago from 0;-)
Greetings from GER
There you go, great job! Thanks for watching 🙌
great video keep pushing Ryne
Thanks Rui, you do the same!
Started 24 years ago in 2000.
Wow that's awesome!
here is the thing 30 to 40 years from now can I imagine the amount of gains and money u will have in your one portfolio I mean hell were easily looking at millions and bucks in growth.in the next 40 years.easily.
Hopefully so!
Thx for he vid. I've been investing for close to 3 years now.
Love it man, thanks for watching 🙌
You inspired me to invest in dividend paying stocks. Have been investing for one year exactly. At 32K now. Cats rule ❤❤❤
Great job!
I'm as green as it gets when getting started . I'm still trying to understand the tax portion if I continue to roll over the profits back into the account.
This is my first proper year of investing, the last 6 months were a lot to do with experimentation etc and I’m on course of making around £70-£100 this year for my first year! I’m saving for a mortgage too so I’m only able to invest dribs and drabs and at the moment I’m happy doing that, and I’m excited to see that my portfolio is slowly growing, like this week I added 2£ to each of these stocks, apple, aviva, bae systems, BATS, coke, S&P 500, reality income and Starbucks, so this week I only invested £16 but gained an extra £1 in dividends for the year which is to me great
Great job man! You're on the right path
Hey
I really like your page. Everything about it is good. Keep up the good work.
If i can add my 2 cents. As you said your only 30. Your time horizon is still pretty long. You need a larger exposure to some tech stocks like Microsoft. Its leaving alot of money on the table.
Thanks for the suggestion
Jam packed video bro love it 🙏🏾🔥🅿️
Thank you man! I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Keep climbing 📈
Been investing for about 3 months
Nice!
Let’s go brother! Appreciate the content
Thank you my friend!
Great video! As someone who’s 29 and still always being told to focus on growth, this focus on dividends and div growth is refreshing. You were seejng yourself beat the market some years, but was that total return? What were your thoughts on dividend taxation in your taxable account as the portfolio was growing?
I showed my total return at about the 9:00 mark in the video!
Saw that, so your total return factors in the taxation as well? How are you calculating that?
Hey man, great channel, I’ve been following you for few months and now I’m a regular viewer of your channel.
I have a question, if your time horizon is 10-20 years down the road, why investing in O or MAIN? Since it’s taxed higher, the dividend growth is lower and the capital appreciation is not as high as other stocks, I’m kind of the same boat since I own O and VICI, but I’ve been thinking to sell them and invest more into stocks like V, COST, or in ETFs like VIG since it has a higher dividend growth rate and bigger stock appreciation, just wanted to know more of your opinion about that
The returns on O and MAIN compared to other stocks depends on which time frame you're looking at. Both O and MAIN have historically delivered exceptional returns across a long period of time. O's recent performance has caused it to underperform, but otherwise, it's been solid.
Hello. It looks like that video at the end of this video isn't actually linked. Can you provide the video on how to grow your dividend portfolio even faster?
Here's that video for you: th-cam.com/video/H-IIbJBxnIs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LB_YHI8GuJYATZ3P
One year. I started investing on February 28, 2023.
Very nice!
Just bought 100 ADM @ $58
Great job!
New investor here.
I recently made an account with Fidelity. Is this a decent company to use for my investing or should I switch to Charles or Vanguard ?
Fidelity is great!
I’m curious on how much you invest a week. I have been in the stock market for 6 months, and am 18 years old with $7,500 dollars in my account. I’m trying to get higher monthly dividends and plan on investing $75 bucks a week, any advice to grow quicker?
$75/week is awesome, especially at 18 years old. I personally invest $230 every week. But when I first started, I was only investing like $25/week
I want to retire in Thailand HOPEFULLY by 50. Just 19 years to go. I hope to be able to achieve $2000-3000CAD a month in Dividends.
You got this!
I'm 43 and I'm in Thailand right now. I'm definitely retiring here.
4 years and 60% total return
Great video I’m right behind you having Opened my first brokerage accounts right around thanksgiving 2019 but I didn’t get serious till march of 2020 I love when I see that account value grow this journey has definitely thought me so much and and as well as Discipline now other people ask me about investing all the time it really pays to invest I can say🎉
Absolutely. You definitely learn a lot about a lot from investing. It’s a really cool thing. Keep it up my friend!
ThanX Ryne.... Great stuff... You are growing for sure.... Keep up the great work and the snowball will keep growing.... QUESTION: Having lived near Sacremento area.... are you a Raiders or 49ers fan...?? Giants or A's fan....?? Excited about Raiders in LV as well as A's coming to the Tropicana Hotel land...???? Thanks again Ryne... Always quality videos...
Thank you my friend! To answer your question, truth be told, I’m personally not a huge sports fan. My family was always pretty split between the raiders and niners though
How do you check your portfolio performance and the S&P500 performance?
You can check the s&p’s performance through seeking alpha. My portfolio performance came from Charles Schwab, which is my brokerage
Great channel, great content. Keep it up man.
You too my friend. Thank you 👏
So you focus on SCHD and VOO.
How much of a dividend payment does VOO offer per share?
$6.41 per share per year
How about capital gain you made on dividends… you need to pay tax on it right ? So may be that gets deducted
Yes, all of the numbers here are pre-tax
Well done 😊
Thanks Paul!
Hey Ryne, question: if you have no plans on using the dividend income to pay bills any time soon and are reinvesting everything anyway, do you ever feel that focus could be shifted a bit towards total return? And when you’re ready to call it quits for good, you bring the focus back to dividends? Might get out of those shackles quicker... To each their own, I know, just throwing it out there. Love the channel!
Thank you! In general, I would say that the approach I'm taking in my portfolio, which only emphasizes dividend paying companies, but doesn't neglect total return, is my preferred approach at this point in time.
@@rynewilliams At this point in time... So you’re saying there’s a chance. 😉 Cheers!
@@jup7120 cheers to you! Keep up the good work 👏
Did you prioritize yield over dividend growth? 7% dividend growth is not much... you can build portfólios now with dividend growth 10-12% like LOW, WSM, MCHP, UNH, V, ADP...
In some instances
wsm just raised their div by 26% :)
They sure did
I think i get 720 a year at age 13 I do yield max mainly but have ko psec and main and tgt
Wow, great job for getting started with investing so young!
All things considered rule number 1 is to never lose money, and I really like how resilient your portfolio is!
I think the fact that some of your biggest holdings like Realty Income and SCHD have underperformed in the last 4 years has been a big factor for a lot of portfolios. Not to mention you just recently sold your biggest underperformers like AT&T and 3M for better stocks like Visa!
True that, thank you my friend!
Hey nan look so i wnat to knkw is main a long term investment stock as ill be starting to buimd kt 100 a week
I personally have MAIN in my portfolio, but you’ll have to do some research into it yourself to know whether or not you think it’s a good long term investment
Five years.
Nice!
IS YOUR SPREADSHEET UPDATED? THE OLD ONE DIDN'T WORK WHEN THE WEBSITE IT PULLS FROM CHANGED THEIR FORMAT
Yes it's updated...if you shoot me an email at ryne@retirewithryne.com I can share the updated template with you
October 2024 will be my 3 year anniversary :D
Heck yea man!
How much $$ did U start with..?
I talk about that in the first couple minutes of the video
How much money do you invest every months ? 100 k is ur goal 🎉
I invest $230 every single week
3 mounts😢
Keep it up my friend!
Since youre actively investing, you didnt earn passive income. Think its pretty misleading calling it passive.
Sounds like you and I have different definitions of passive income. I consider it to be income earned without working for an employer or job. Passive income doesn't require you to receive money in exchange for a service performed.
I would disagree. I think you can actively invest while earning passive income. You can actively invest in real estate, but earn passive income if you hire property management.
If I actively deploy my funds and someone else does the work to earn my returns then that's passive income in my books.
Example: I actively invest into a publicly traded company, but do absolutely no work within the company to ensure metrics are hit that generate returns for shareholders.
How old are you
I'll be 31 in a couple of months
why do you care about money after your life is over? you should be rich by 40 max. after that its all pointless
You think life is over after 40?
gg
Hey @rynewilliams, where do you find the music from your videos. I like these lo-fi chill vibes
Thank you! I get all my music from a website called Epidemic Sound
Super cool video, congratulations 🎊 keep it up
Thank you!
Excellent journey and certainly an inspiration to those starting. Keep up the race. It’s a marathon that you win at the end.
Thank you Bob...you inspire me! I'm trying to get to where you are. Thank you for all of your support
What do you think about income ETF such as Yieldmax? I got 2k dividends monthly.
I don't think highly of the yieldmax funds
@@rynewilliams bc of their strategy or overall value/performance?

Started investing around 2010 and started dividend investing last Oct. Got lucky and caught a dip! Dividend investing has gotten way better returns than my regular portfolio, which will probably lead to the firing of my portfolio manager!
Haha love it! Keep up the great work
Love seeing all the numbers, you're keeping them going in the right direction!
I started around the same time you did, but honestly only with this last job change in late 2022 is when I was able to start focusing on investing. I did fall for yield traps in the beginning but I'm slowly exiting all of those into more growth and div growth focused holdings. I've made about €850 in dividends last year and hope to make €1200-1400 for 2024 which would be crazy as the minimum wage here is about €800 a month
There you go, that’s awesome! It sounds like you’re on the right path. Keep climbing 📈
My journey just started. I reached just 7% of my "$1000 a month" goal. Congrats with 4th milestone!
There you go, great job! Thank you for watching
Started investing January 12th of this year.
Nice!
Somebody get this guy to 50K subs‼
Haha thank you my friend! We'll get there eventually
My goal is to get to $70k/yr in annual dividends in the next 20 years as that’s what I feel I’d need to cover mortgage and everything else alone adjusted for inflation. If I can hit that, I’d be happy. Although I’m greedy and would like more, but if I can get enough dividends to cover my mortgage I would not complain at all. That’s the goal.
I think that's totally doable
1 year as noob not knowing about the power of dividends. 2 year’s strong 💪🏾 as a dividends investors I had to sell out my portfolio a year in half ago to make sure rent was paid then It was at 5k. Know I’m at $6100+ hopefully reach 10k at the end of this year!!! Congratulations on your journey my brother. You probably the main reason I kept on keeping on investing.
Thank you for the kind words there man. Hearing that my gibberish helped you keep going is the best compliment you can give me. You’re on the right path, keep climbing! 📈
I am one year into primarily Dividend focused investing. It's been a lot of fun!
Great job man! Keep climbing 📈
Where in Vegas do you reside?
I’m over in Summerlin
$40-50 per week for groceries? How is that possible? With the cost of groceries in my area that would only last half a week. No eating out either.
You and I must live in different areas and buy different groceries
The 2022 performance you had is amazing. A lot of people got shook out of poor investments at a loss around that time (myself to a degree). AI and EVs are in a bubble.. over a long enough time horizon your style will keep you invested and that's whats important. Index funds couldn't do it for me. Forget about comparing yourself to the market. I am almost at the $10k annual income mark. Recently got paid from the money market, $MAIN, $ARCC and $STR. Holding and dripping those ones.
Thank you my friend!
I'm 24, my portfolio is worth around $200k. Even though our investing philosophy is different (I trade options), we are still doing this for the same reason. To leave a job we hate lol
Love it
Question: Do you have your dividends set to reinvest into the security they came from? Or cashed and sent to your trading account's money market?
I manually reinvest my dividends! Automatically reinvesting them is totally fine though
Your fiancé is probably bummed you’re not going to Juan’s! Jk😂❤
Haha I’ll take her to Juan’s anytime she wants…I just won’t pay for it with dividends 😂
Nice Vid as always :)
For feb I got 4,15 with my calculations I should get around 6,15€ so we’ll see.
I just saw main is paying a special dividend this month *_*

Great job, thanks for watching! 👏
I’m sorry if I missed this in the video but I’m looking to start dividends and I’m 22. Would you recommend starting in a ROTH IRA? Or just a regular Ira? Thanks for the video! 🙂
It’s tough for me to say definitively. I personally have a Roth IRA though
Do a Roth and invest In Growth stocks
