The chemistry of these two is amazing... real love there.
Most covers of great songs remind me of how good the song itself is, usually because even though the cover musicians can't quite measure up, the song is still enjoyable. But this is the rare cover that brings an entirely new quality and unique personality in the performance. Hansard's passionate vocals set it alongside Van's original as an equal, to my personal taste. The key is that at no time do I find myself missing Van Morrison; this version seems to enhance the original, not compete with it. I went back and listened to Morrison's version and found new things to appreciate about it. I heard the original anew if you will. IMO, that's probably the finest tribute one musician can ever give to another.
Man, her singing is so effortless. See, some humans do have superpowers as evidenced by these two.

I have watched this clip on many occasions. An awesome rendition as usual from the "Dynamic Duo"....the main reason for inserting a comment has to do with capturing the joy and happiness that is seen pouring over their faces when performing the song. Puts a genuine and heart felt smile on my face every time I view it.
Heard this cover for the first time today...holy crap! This performance has it all...emotion, passion, dynamics...brilliant cover!
My Mom died from cancer in 2010 and loved this song... It was the last song I sang to her 2 days before she passed... I know she would have loved this as much as I do.... Thank you for this version... You rock my brother....

This is a powerful song.
The first time I heard it was at a friend's funeral. They played the Van Morrison version as he was a huge Van fan.
There wasn't a dry eye in the place.
I've just heard the first few words on an episode of Bones and I recognised the song immediately.
That's very unusual for me. It usually takes a few lines of a song.
But this song is special.

I know Glen Hansards music since a year or two. He was introduced to me by a friend from the land Down Under. But I didn't know Swell Season. 'Bones' brought me here and this is truly an awesome cover!!!

I can only thing of one word. Whoa! This really surprised me. This is an incredible acoustic performance of Van's "Into the Mystic". He did have it right, Van is one of the greatest musicians of all time and is truly a "living legend".
