Brilliant Thank You, no other information ive found tells me the cam pulleys are freewheeling with the nuts undone I thought they would be pegged. My cambelt was half a tooth out between the cam pulleys and the new belt wouldn't go on. Loosening the cam nuts realigned it. My mate did the last belt and it's been half a tooth out since then!! I wondered why the idle was a bit rough for the last 50,000 miles. Thanks again Brilliant.
Many Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it explains everything I need to know to replace the timing belt on my Renault Megan, one of the best videos made on replacing the timing belt. Many thanks great video.
thank you igor grate video i like home made tools as i dont have much money .dad passed away and iuse his tools .i can weld cut and bend most parts i need to fix family cars and my own .tanks again.
Can you do this job without the cam shaft locking tool? I can make one but i dont need to remove the gears nor do the waterpump so not making the tool would save me some time.
Hey Igor, Do you know, or can you measure what the thinnest diameter of the pen is? The part what snaps in the flyingwheel? 8.00 mm? I am going to make the pen of an m10 bolt. On a turning machine i will decrease the diameter partly to the thinner diameter. Thanks in advance Greetings Jeroen

Title should be, how to disassemble a motor AND change timing belt and pump at the same time... Great video! thanx

Thank you very much. Hvala lepo. Arsen iz Srbije.
Thanks for this excellent video! I used it to help with the same procedure on a 2.0i 16v petrol engine in an Espace.
Thanks, this is the best video in days. For tighten the camshaft pulley bolt you let the bolt (70 mm) in the inspection hole?
Yes
Usefull video until today, thank you very much ! From france
Just what I needed. Thank you!
Very helpfull, thank you so much, greetings from Holland.
Very useful, thanks for the post.
Dear Igor,
What is the size of the bolt you use for blocking the flywheel?
You say "the length is 70mm"
Is it an m8 bolt?
Greetings Jeroen
Dear Jeroen that bolt is combined m10 with m8 because the hole is m8 that bolt I made from timing kit for golf mk4 for the tensioner
Zajebista robota
Exellent video Sir THANKYOU!!..... Does anyone know if the valves are able to hit the pistons when a belt has slipped/snapped???
Yes they hit the pistons and usually it's big damage
So the tensioner shouldn't be in top dead position? I locked mine in top dead position, could it be too tight?Engine runs smooth though...
If it's over tightened it will damage timing belt faster than normal
Fantastic information video. Thank you.
Thank you can you please check this video th-cam.com/video/dSB2HfG1ayE/w-d-xo.html
Very help full...
Sir where location camshaft position sensor
I think there is no camshaft sensor
Great video I am doing head gasket on a 1.8 how do I find top dead centre.
There is plug hole for locking crankshaft check in the video
Great video - thanks! Is the procedure exactly the same for the Laguna Alize1.8 16v engine (yr 2000)?
I think yes
Can you do this job without the cam shaft locking tool? I can make one but i dont need to remove the gears nor do the waterpump so not making the tool would save me some time.
Yes you can just use marker to mark the sprockets
@@mechanicigor okay, thats what i was thinking. Thank you for replying :)
Hi, how does the water pump you installed look like? Is the mark graf good?
According to me every new part is OK because it's new it doesn't matter how manufacturer it and it's under warranty for 6 months
@@mechanicigor I used the same Graf water pump, but I closed it with an old washer, I hope the coolant does not leak
It was metal or paper gasket?
@@mechanicigor The factory washer that was on the car from the beginning and has a red color
@@rezarg5081 it's metal gasket you are safe they are good quality
Hi Igor. Thank you gor this video.
I have one question:
What's the thickness of the metal plate you use to make the camshaft bloking tool?
I think was 5mm
@@mechanicigor Thank you. Very grateful. Replacing timing belt and cooling pump in my Mégane 1.6 16v K4M today... Wish me luck... 😉
Hello Igor,
What i previous wrote was a question.
If I don't have those tools for blocking the engine, how can I change the timing belt? There is another way?
You can buy tools or take the car to mechanic
Hello, where is the horn in this car because my didn't work and I can't find it. I have the same engine and the car is from 2000 (after lifting)
It is located under the left front plastic, under the bumper.
You need to get under the car in order to replace it.
Thanks igor,
You helped me a great deal!
hi. is it a 50 torx for the timing belt idler pulley? or a 55 torx?
I think it was torx 55 I'm not sure write now
I would like to make the camshaft tool my self. Do you have a drawing or dimensions so I can make the tool?
Sorry I don't have
@@mechanicigor www.meganeclub.nl/fora/index.php?topic=11489.0 i have found dimensions on google.

Sorry Jeroen you need 10mm of m10 so you can screw rest of the bolt needs to be 8mm and total size is 70mm
