Sometimes it’s just the right way. That’s kinda how I did my d series. My friends were like ‘bruh professionals would throw a fit seeing how you assemble it’. She runs fine, burns a bit of oil, but it is what it is.
That looked so stressful. Building engines is like a collab of legos and the game of operation; one missed piece and you’re out hundreds of dollars. Well played sir
It is.. I once mixed up valve springs because my hoodie accidentally got caught on the corner of the piece of cardboard where I neatly marked and sorted them on. Valve springs all over the floor, was fun.
I love it when people have no regard for anyone else who may need parts. every time someone pulls an engine, they cut harnesses, smash the rad, or break plastic parts when they carelessly rip the engine out.
Wow your yard actually helps you move it after. I had to use that crane, buy a used tire at the yard and drop it on that tire on a cart and load it manually into a van. 😂
I've seen one guy turbo a 4cyl 2l bmw without opening the engine, took the oil out for working and put the old oil back in, used exhaust pipe for the intake side, the turbo was 200€ from china and the car didn't have intercooler at all. Worked perfectly. It was supposed to have a 6cyl 2l but he used the engine for another car. That engine had two pistons melt down on the dyno, he just took two pistons from another engine, didn't do anything else and went back on the dyno after two days
11:35 see if you can pick up a used dishwasher, they work well for cleaning parts. Might not fit a whole engine block but you can certainly put quite a few parts in them.
Epic video! I actually learned a lot watching you rebuild it. And after multiple lines you got it running!! At start of the video going under that car it looked very very cramped. But overall I'm happy the E46 is back!!
The E46 M3 sitting downstairs is panicking at the thought of me attempting any of this. This is one of those situations where I'll just live vicariously through your emotional anguish (and dopamine).
This is awesome, I built my 2jz with forged inernals and did everything the best I could. Sometimes I have problems with trusting how I did things, I’ve built a few motors before but this gives me some confidence to just send it.
Right when you blew your engine i knew it was going to be a minute before getting back on track. So glad to hear you're planning on going even harder now! Cant wait for the future builds, the tease is real.
You can certainly machine an engine with hand tools, check the deck of the cylinder head, the deck of the block with a ruler and filler gauge, Measure the bore of each sleeve from top, to middle to bottom with a micrometer, The top of the Sleeve also has the most wear, Then you have a reference point while honing, and after I measure the bottom and top of the bore and order a Piston size roughly in the middle of my measurement, And also measure the crank jornals with a micrometer, and sand and polish it, If the crank has a lot of miles on it, Id consider ordering oversized bearings if Capable you'd have to measure first to see if will work, Also id resurface the intake and exhaust gasket and use a tap and die and rethread some of threads, Aluminum blocks are very soft, especially when you have a whole a the pitch of the threads are very thin, also lapping your valves is great because a lot of engines have a leaking valve with cars even having 60k miles, If you think about a wheel with a weight that needs to get rotated at high speeds it will vibrate like crazy and shake, it's the same thing with with a crankshaft, Crankshafts are Balanced from Factory but what happens is flywheel or Harmonic balancer or crank pulley gets unbalanced, Also you want your internals to be balanced you want to check the shape and size, of all rods, pistons, and also weight, when building engine you want to last these stuff is critical, And it's also good to clean your injectors every now and then If a Injector is clogged one cylinder not getting the correct combustion and premature wear your engine that's why you a lot of cars have one or 2 rod bearings worn, All the stuff i said you can do at home, With simple tools
I had the same exact thing happen. Except with a bottom mount and I had to cut a wrench to like an inch and a half to get the feed line off. I had it super tight damn near broke my fingers getting it off. There was like no room to work.
Drive the expensive rides gotta be ready for the bill. Remember, it is a labor of love, not money. If all you do is look at her in a monetary sense, then dont expect her to treat you well. The racecar lifestyle isn't cheap. I know ive been where you are before. Build your ride and respect her. 🙏🏻 ❤❤
Good shi bit i would recommend putting assembly oil or motor oil on the cylinder walls upon installation of pistons or around pistons goes in easier🤙🏾🤙🏾totallyyyy
This is what you call a soft blue print. Kudos to real TH-camrs promoting real car cutler. Not this shop shit. Everyone’s starting point of becoming real car enthusiasts. Great video man. A video on real life issues as a car modder. I subscribed 🥷🫡
Did you just leave your main bearings torqued to 33 foot pds and then a 90 degree? I just hope you torqued it more than that cuz it's definitely gonna be looking at some really loose main bearing caps and who knows what else would happen but torque all your bolts to spec
How much did you spend or get to work the cluster and the engine swap on the bmw I saw this video today and my brain started brain storming mmmm new project
I just tore down my jeep yj 4.2. The bores are worn, i just cant bring myself to send it. The head needs machining. Its too much money to risk . Gotta bore it😊
i ruined my engine also just 4 weeks ago. A rubber cap from the sparkplug socket 16mm went roque and hit in the shaft nr 3 between the new sparkplug and the thread. Gasolcase akaine wasn't burnt and a gasoline lock in cilinder 3 was the Very depressing, it was during a start it is and it was then on stands, she threw a rod thru the front and back wall of the mid en the crankcaser aka oilsump. The damage is mild but It still hurts, i need my car. Junkyard it is. Hoony keeps his smile high after ruining a JZ.It is ok, we are allowed to cry. Man can and may cry, let is gooooo. JZ Hoony i am going to sit this ride out i newed to see if you succeed.
shit...getting flashbacks of a couple months ago when I rebuilt my 2jz for my is300. @14:50 ...hits to hard. haha I did do it a bit to quick and did bend a oil piston ring haha. Seeing as it was the first engine i rebuilt my anxiety was thru the roof. I definitely adopted the 'send it' mentality at a certain point haha
dbl shit...even the oil leak on/near the oil filter that makes you question your existence. Mine was my oil cooler sammich plate which didn't seal...three days and 150 dollars later...
Dude ok sanding the block like that by hand. Yes i done it as well But you cant concentrate on one spot like that and go at it. You have to do the whole block from one end to the other. With a bigger wider sander.
Hoon please help me out, i did a engine swap on my e46 325i and im having problems starting it up, it cranks cranks but no start, any ideas on what the problem may be?
idk why he dont pht s52 again, 2jz will trash by itself again, idk why people think this is the best engine , m50b25 block will handle more than this, well even m50b20 with m57crankshaft is holding well at 400hp for like more than 6 years
Video perfectly captures the actual reality of modding/drifting/pushing cars. The ups and the downs.
Facts this is such a good channel to learn on
Hahaha
Love that your just sending it and building the motor yourself!

Watch this engine last longer than the built one
Patiently waiting for the "back from the dead 2.0 money doesn't grow on trees" shirt 😂
I would buy that

I feel it. I hand sanded a rod cap the night before an event to free up a tight crank. Worked like a charm! Tore it back down the next day 😂
Been there done that lol I did that to a Mazda 1.6 In a protege drove it like that for months before I developed a knock lol 😂
11:35 see if you can pick up a used dishwasher, they work well for cleaning parts. Might not fit a whole engine block but you can certainly put quite a few parts in them.
Bro, this was inspiring. Glad your hard work paid off!

Gotta be such a good feeling building the entire motor from scratch and it starts first try
This makes my heart glad. Good to hear that thing purring again.
16:37 I bet that he was looking for that for a while lol
I recently built an Audi a4 and the amount of oil leaks there were after was so stupid I fixed them all but I understand your pain
This is awesome, I built my 2jz with forged inernals and did everything the best I could. Sometimes I have problems with trusting how I did things, I’ve built a few motors before but this gives me some confidence to just send it.
I love it when hoon garage posts
in the same boat .. cars been f@#@ ing me... but we shall win when its over haha glad to see you getting them done
Listen man you on your way first step in becoming great is the first step… most ppl wouldn’t even think to attempt building a motor so good job
Definitely subscribed i like how bro doesn’t cut to where it looks easy good knowledge still learning myself🤙🏾🤙🏾
This is clean man. Keep the good work, not sketchy at all
Right when you blew your engine i knew it was going to be a minute before getting back on track. So glad to hear you're planning on going even harder now! Cant wait for the future builds, the tease is real.
Great video man! Love what you do and keep up the good work! I really enjoy your videos, huge fan of what you do
This dude genuinely like proved me wrong about building engines. Here i am spending thousands at the machine shop and this mf just rawdoggin it

16:38 in case youve been looking for the socket
Great video dude, just gotta push on through the struggles like you say.
Looking forward to seeing more videos 👍🏽
I loved this video...pretty much every second of it..go nico!

I'm guessing water getting into cylinder #2 bent the rod and caused the weird skirt wear. Definitely replace that rod.
@4:14 caught me so off guard you’re funny as fuck😭
time for “back from

4:14 had me dying😂😂😂
Thank you for the effort man, continue entertaining us :)

Those are the specs…
I love a happy ending, wasnt sure if I get one but thank you
Bro I’ve been watching for like 5 years now bro you deserve everything u worked for sonn🎉🎉 and yes I slide my e39 540i just like u bro 🎉😂
You should’ve said “what do you expect it’s a beamer” 😭
so sick! 🔥you got it! it was so cool to watch you rebuild new engine and blala.. keep going! waiting for other videos also! 🔥 #backfromthedead
Apparently you don't remember a space shuttle exploding because of frozen o-rings.
Way to stick with it and not give up. Good job
Those screw on fittings for the oil lines probably need ptfe tape or plumbers tape around the threads
You absolutely killed that man.
It's always a good day when hoon garadge postt
Fun to watch this episode
Very nice
Respect the hustle! Keep it up dude!

nice rough build and the barra
Ahahasha the Walter White part😂😂😂
Congrats on your hard work

The s54 cover is disrespectful ash😂
Goat bro, always look forward to ur uploads!
Pour a quart of STP ceramicoat in it.....shit is amazing
Nice job, hope it rips for a long time!
3rd. Love the videos
Pulling parts off an engine with slides seems kinda dangerous I think
Dope A - Z video love it
What happened at 4:13 😂😂😂

Hell yeah Barra, barras are $100 over here still, how much do you guys pay
Bro is playing car mechanic simulator IRL
Sounds like you have been shopping at SK Speed for their expensive lines and fittings
Your gonna get better and better, and one day your a expert!.....but yea.....hella cool!
$180 for 1 line?!?! I pay 95 for 20 ft if hose and a bunch of fittings
Proceeds to blow it up again and not tell anyone 💪💪💪
The O ring got expanded from oil
what car was that at the junkyard? only US cars with jz that i’m aware of are the is/gs/sc300s. this is news to me lol i’m a junkyard warrior
Looks like a mid 90’s GS, before they got all swoopy
AWESOME man WAY TO GOO CUZ MONEY DONT GROW ON TREES BLOOD WE DO WHAT WE CAN WITH WHAT WE HAVE
Much love from Israel
Lol I have the same S54 engine cover on my 2JZ 🤣
most relatable video so far :D
if you can do it, so can I! ...with an engine that makes 1/4th the power haha
Hoon please help me out, i did a engine swap on my e46 325i and im having problems starting it up, it cranks cranks but no start, any ideas on what the problem may be?
Probably EWS just bypass it by pinning pins 1 and 2 together under the drivers side of the dash
Did bmw come with a line of 2jz motor in it?
what do you consider to much ring gap i run .028 top .030 bottom for my jz builds stock pistons no issues and i beat the living hell out of my supra
brou we are waiting for sum e36 merch :)

Love your videos 🤘🤘

YESSSSSSS LETS GO!!!!
Older vid ik but was the other engine a na block as well or turbo?
No it was a GTE shortblock
@@HoonGarage ouch
Drop a like people he's trying to be great!

That head gasket is gonna be leaking...
Head gasket sealed great no issues
If so I am impressed, look forward to seeing the long run outcome. Pedal on brother! @@HoonGarage
boi wouldn't have this prob with LS
whats rims / wheels are those?
how much does the engine owe you? sick video btw
200k soon
idk why he dont pht s52 again, 2jz will trash by itself again, idk why people think this is the best engine , m50b25 block will handle more than this, well even m50b20 with m57crankshaft is holding well at 400hp for like more than 6 years
You can't be mad at the car the owner didn't check all the holes when he unbolted everything hole
If you can build a motor you can build your own AN lines
