I don't drive trucks, don't even live in Europe, but this got suggested to me and it was nice to learn how things work over there, you also are very easy to listen to.
In the good old days in Denmark, we had/still have an - English built bridge, from 1937 (3,2 km), over Storstrømmen, which at a time became too narrow for the still larger trucks to be able to pass each other, without swinging their mirrors in!!! Today trucks aren't allowed any more, so it is only for local traffic, till a new bridge has been finished in a few years, also with more tracks for trains. But we are also building a new underwater tunnel below the 18 km of Fehmarn Belt to Germany, and instead of waiting for a ferry or the auto-train, we will be able to drive for ourselves! Both cars and trains!! I have always wondered why the Chunnel was made like this?
Very nice video. I will probably never need this but it’s still very cool to see this as there are nearly no videos about the exact progress and I think its really interesting😁
Great video. Thanks for the tips on how to load the truck onto the train. We use ATA Carnet's for import/export documentaiton as a motorsport team but very similar to GMR & MRN.
Great video. Plenty of really useful (and necessary) info. Excellent explanations (you should work in training!). Very generous of you and much appreciated. Cheers! 👍 (PS Liked and subscribed)
I can sympathise with the person in the booth on the UK side not wanting to open the window to show which lane to get into, but it is his/her job to show clearly which way to go. In this day and age of digital signage, I don't understand why they don't have a simple keyboard to push to display clearly which lane to get into. Until that time, that person, no matter how cold, should be opening the window and doing their bloody job!
Cheers Andrew. Once you get past the booth each lane has a red X except the lane you want which has a green ⬇️ so I’m not sure they even need the person at all ! Thank you for watching.
very informative lad..always wondered about the procedure since brexit...would like to see how to get through sevington if at all possible,...keep the vids coming really like this kind of stuff...just subscribed so look forward to more.
Thanks. We very rarely do Sevington as most goods are cleared before we arrive back in the UK. If I ever get pulled in I’ll do a vid though 😉. Thanks for watching.
As I drive from home to Sainsbury's on the A20 I nearly always (nowadays) see a queue of trucks just waiting. I think that's where you grabbed a 15 minute break. Now I know! Puzzle solved 😃 One thing, on nights that are misty or with low cloud the light pollution out of the channel tunnel makes that drive look like a Spielberg film! Plus, you could read a newspaper in my back garden at midnight! Channel Tunnel, if you read this, please put some shades on your lighting! Just stop the light going up into the sky. Point them down where you need it. Please!
@@The_Breeze1 It's a pleasure mate, thank you for keeping our shops full of food for us to eat. We know that any shortages are down to the tories, not the EU or the French. Keep safe out there! 😃
This may sound like a bit of a stupid question but is it harder or not to go through border control and all the checks since brexit. And is there a lot more paper work. I've heard there where some delays at first. Its unbelievable what amount of trucks travel back and forth.
Hi Lazylad, it’s longer due to the delays (for us) as we have fresh produce which requires veterinary inspection. Pre-Brexit was quicker in that respect. Trucks carrying “ordinary” goods are chosen at random for inspection so many go through without stopping. Thanks for watching mate 👍🏽
So from calais to folkestone when you enter the train, you get on a minibus 1 or 2. Whats the process from folkestone to calais. Great informative video againvas well.
G’day Tim & welcome along. Currently I’m in a Volvo FH (cab tour video on the channel) though the fleet is mainly Scanias with a few other marques thrown in. We have a variety of fridges though the latest purchase is a fine looking Krone & I believe there’s a few Schmitz on order.
@@The_Breeze1 thanks for that. Many many years ago my wife and I worked for Febland in Blackpool. Going over the Blanc in the snow brought back some great memories and down into Navara. Scania 141 in those days.
Very very rarely as we usually have to go into Sivep for veterinary inspections with the meat. If ever I do I will video it though & thank you for the question Mike.
My guess, for why you alwaysbget x-rayed may be some combination of your cargo and the company you work for. Since you're hauling a chiller your good likely need priority when getting on and off the train, while other goods could miss a train or two and not harm the goods. X-ray is the fastest way to garentee no funny business, and then youbget put into the priority (A) lane on the way out of the x-ray, since all the other lanes seem to move much slower to give customs a chance to pull the lordies aside if they want to check any of them Finally the lanes you took your 15 minute in are simply your placement on the next train and have nothing to do with the goods your carrying or the xeay machine This is my guess as a non-lorry driver, hope it helps
I doubt it’s the Company as not only do they have an excellent record but we are going out rather than coming IN to the UK. We get priority being fridges & apart from the X ray there’s no other checks made ? Thanks for watching my friend 😊👍🏽
The only thing that I can come up with as a reason for why you have to go through x-ray is that you are going in to the EU. But not sure. I know there is a similar thing when entering Norway wich only is an EEC member
Very educational, and clearly explained. I enjoy these cabin rides, thanks 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Cheers Freddie, lots more on the Channel mate 👍🏽
I watch trucker jenko last video and he said i like Europe trucking so i have now started to watch your videos
Great stuff & welcome along Kevin.

Very nice of you to say Juphikie 😊. Cheers for watching 👍🏽
One of the best explaining this .👏👏
Many thanks, there’s one for the other way too 😃
I find all this fascinating 👍🇬🇧
Me too Jack. Please check out my other videos for more fascinating stuff & thanks for checking in 👍🏽
I did this so many thimes in 1999,it was a lot easyer. With hot food and coffee in the shuttle. Greetz. Rich, retired.
They’ve just started serving “coffee” again on a couple of the trains - it’s not good 🤪
Very informative, and very well explained. Enjoying all of your trips.
Great to hear Simon & thank you.
Great video very informative and interesting
Glad you enjoyed it Chris & thank you.
Due to make my first trip over to France from the durham area so this has given me some help of what to expect thanks
Plenty more of advice on the Channel mate & thank you. Good luck on your trip. 👍🏽
Thank you. Had no idea it was so complicated!
Cheers Alec, it’s not bad after a couple of goes 🤣. There’s a video showing the other way too if you’re really bored 🤣
So they built a road where two trucks are very likely to have to pass each other, but they didn't make it wide enough!
Haha exactly Sylvia 🤦🏻♂️. Thanks for looking in too.

Thank you Phil, kind of you to comment. Keep watching bud 😊
Turn left...turn right..follow the GREEN!
Unless you’ve got to go to Sivep (like us EVERY time) to see the vet. Then it’s follow Orange 😊. Cheers buddy.
Thanks for the video great information 👍🏻👍🏻

Cheers AV that’s very kind of you to say. Keep watching my friend 😊
great video, do I detect a welsh accent, good to see you are not having your image in screen at all times, like some I could mention !
Hi mate, yes the accent is Welsh 🏴. Well spotted & welcome 🤗

You should check out some of the other videos too mate, they may help. Good luck & thanks for watching Paul 😃

Thank you.

Hi Andy, it’s the same in reverse really but the video of the opposite trip is up on the channel so take a look 👍🏽. Cheers 😃
How much time it take from Dover, Folkestone to Calais
Should be 30 minutes by train but it never is. Today is 2hrs+ already 🤦🏻♂️
Re the X-ray- do they always put fridge trailers through it? Maybe because the sniffer dogs can’t smell contraband where there’s food?
Hi James & thanks for watching. We go through radiation, X-ray & heartbeat detection as well as dogs each time 😮
Stupid question: if the UK was in the EU *and* in Schengen, could you just drive onto the train immediately?
Yes I believe so but I think we’d still need the veterinary checks on the other side.
@@The_Breeze1 Thanks!
I'm not sure of the purpose of all of those chicanes on that road in Calais just before the customs turnoff? Is it just stop stop vehicles speeding?
Hi Tristan, yes mate for some reason it’s like a stampede when you get off the train, same as from booking in to the check in booths 🤷♂️🤦🏻♂️😀
What type of tractor unit and fridge trailer. Greetings from Brisbane Australia

Good truck in its day, probably one of the best. certainly a lot worse about at the time I bet ! Thanks for looking in mate.
Do you ever do the Dover to cali would be good to see holdups?

Great video 👍
Do you drive for broughtons as the colour of your wiper arm ls a clue?
Amongst others yes, we’ll spotted though & thanks for watching 👍🏽
you were speeding in the 10km area (who doesn't?)
👮🏻♂️ 🚨 😃
Quick question why aren't you allowed to put the tachograph on break whilst travelling on the train thought that would be OK as you're out of the cab
You actually can 👍🏽 🤦🏻♂️
With all the country's you go to is there a langugh problem ?
Yes Bob, most of them don’t understand me 🤣. In fairness you can get by ok. Cheers for watching mate 😃
Me again 🙋🏻♂️ in this vid, you state that you can't use the train for a break, why not??
Hi again Darren. It was a bit of a grey are for a while but I believe you CAN ☺️. I’ll have a VERY clear guidance on it soon though 😉

Haha we have to go in every time anyway for the vets so it’s no surprise just an unwanted delay. Cheers Kieran 👍🏽

At least we got through ok ! Thanks for watching Jorn 👍🏽
What a convoluted narrow layout! I thought the car bit was bad enough but this is horrible.
It’s certainly narrow Robert & there’s regular accidents on the corner stops at the bottom entrances to the carriage. Thank you for watching though 😃
That place is badly designed as usual…why don’t they scan all trucks while ur going thru barriers …Doh
You’re right John.
