She so totally deserved this. I don't know why, but "Crazy Eyes" really struck a chord with me that no other character in the series did. I love this character so much.
That’s a bold claim. I’ll admit she’s an incredible actress but lots of actors and actresses have played people with mental illnesses just was well. Look at Toni Collette in US of Tara.
I didn’t appreciate her acting genius the first time I watched orange. I’m a little older and wiser now, and just rewatched it this year. She is absolutely amazing. Just absolutely AMAZING.
One of the reasons I really liked OITNB was the acting from most of them was incredible, but Uzo was INSANE. I was the same as you, I didn't appreciate the level of acting required to pull off a character like this is a whole new level.
It was no doubt an emotional time - newbie - first nomination - first award. I'm not sure I would have the ability to speak let alone speak so eloquently.
Queen B She was just goin all PTSD on that lil guard and poor Poussey got accidently choked by the guy. Yep, indirectly it is Suzanne's fault though. 😥
Wow, that was one of the most heartfelt acceptance speeches I've seen. This is what genuine appreciation and gratitude look like. She deserves all the accolades she receives. She portrays the character brilliantly.
I love Uzo, I love how she plays Crazy Eyes, I love her speech, and can I just point out how beast her arms are. She's packing some guns there, holy crap.
She so deserved this That one time she asked Chapman "Why does everyone call me Crazy Eyes" broke my heart😭😭😭 Amazin actress and hope for more opportunities after OITNB😘😘
This is the most beautiful, humble and passionate acceptance speech I personally have ever heard. Thank you for being such an inspiring person - this gives me so much hope for the future...
I had the pleasure of knowing Uzo in high school, and that the world's caught up with what we in Medfield knew a long time ago -- how outrageously talented she is -- gives me such joy. She hasn't changed a bit; still sweet, humble and lovely. Congrats, girl. We're so proud of you.
Differently Wired She’s honestly one of the classiest, kindest, humblest people I’ve ever met. I was a new kid to a very, very small town, and she came right up to me and said, “You must be Elizabeth. I’m Uzo, it’s so nice to meet you.” I’ve had several strokes and my memory is absolutely shot, but I still remember being in absolute awe I was of how genuinely happy each teacher she took me to meet was to see her. That character never wavered, even as she started working toward this; we actually tried to do a short film shoot after graduation and she asked me to be her production coordinator. She ended up heading to New York instead, but she’s still exactly who she was when I met her two decades ago.
I always fucking cry when I watch this. I feel so deeply connected with the cast and characters they're so talented. Best show I've seen in my whole life
This always makes me cry. The fact that Laverne Cox is the only one who stands up applauding in the end is so, so powerful. She's probably the only one outside of Aduba's family who is able to understand what Aduba went through.
I kind of teared up when she said "Why do they call me Crazy Eyes?" and my heart just fucking bROKE and seeing her standing with that award HELL SHE DESERVES IT AWESOME ACTRESS, SAME WITH LAVERNE AND NATASHA THEY ARE ALL GREAT ACTRESSES FOR A GREAT SHOW BRAVO
She is absolutely STUNNING! This award is definitely deserved, she's an AMAZING actress 💕💕💕 and to the people that clicked thumbs down, there is something seriously wrong with you...
Uzo won for "Guest Actress"because in the first season (for which she won this award), she was billed--along with all of the others, except Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, and Kate Mulgrew--as "guest starring" because it wasn't clear to the writers who would be a regular and who wouldn't. For season two, Uzo became a regular supporting character and thus, like many of the others on the show, will be eligible for the "Supporting Actress in a Comedy" Emmy, for which we all probably agree she should be nominated AND should win! She's phenomenal and gives the show so much depth. This show is some of the best writing and acting for a primetime series.
I don't even watch the show but this was so emotional - was right there with her! aww!.. and shout out to her mum, rocking her Nigerian clothes proudly!
I'm rewatching Orange is the New Black for the second time here in 2024 and I had no idea she even won an emmy. I'm just watching it thinking like damn she is acting her ass off surely she won something at some point. She's amazing.
Same here...every single time I replay the moment referenced followed by the theme song I continue to tear up...such an incredible actor in that role both in comedy and drama
Hey, I just love you guys, I'm so sad after season 7 ends, it's like now there nothing left to watch, I miss all of you, girls of Litchfield... Love you Alex,
Oh I am so happy for her!! She is an amazing actress. I saw her in another movie that was based on a true story... She did amazing in that one as well.
Lovely speech but for some reason when she said "my sister I don't know a better human being" I thought she was gonna say "my sister I don't know her" XD
I figured her character would just be the occasional stress point and comic relief, but she was so much more, and Uzo's portrayal made her stand out wonderfully.
I just love her. She is such a blessed actress. I loved her in Orange Is The New Black and wish that it had continued because it was such a great series! Every season was fabulous.
so weird to see her out of character... she looks so damn classy here... totally deserves the award
love
Summer Salt I was thinking the same thing lol. I literally just got done binge watching all 6 seasons. Never heard her talk normal. This was cool.
Ikr
The only person to give a standing ovation was her friend
TOTALLY!!!!
Not me sobbing about this still in 2021. Incredible. She was and is so so good.
Same! Agreed.
Saaaame, I fully teared up 😂 I really want to see her on new shows now. Her acting is immaculate 🙌🏼
@@rairahman1450 hahahh i know that feeling! XD 😆
Okay?!

I love that Laverne stood up and Natasha smiled bigger than everyone else. I love this cast

Thanks for the post.. I noticed because you mentioned
The gay community has always been most supportive people I know too bad they don't get that same support from hetero
I love how Morgan Freeman doesnt add a suspense pause, he just says it
Yes! It’s like he deliberately blurted it out as fast as possible
That makes it more unexpected and
a gentlemen knows ; )
Maybe he had to take a piss and wanted to wrap this up as fast as possible 🏃♂️
*grabs Emmy*
*looks at crowd nervously*
*smacks forehead continuously*
lol yes..but that why we love her huh
+Ray Thomas YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
lol ya and has a piece of pie to throw

Pac Mane I threw my pie for you.
She deserves it, the way she plays Crazy Eyes is unbelievably good
I think she deserves it also she was an amazing character
I personally most all of them were amazing actors/actresses but Uzo ABSOLUTELY blew it out of the water for me
I am on my period I do not need this level of emotion. I'm crying rn.
Me af right now💔😭
Damn. You okay?
+Kya I watched 3 more of her speeches, ate a stupid amount of ice cream for someone who's lactose intolerant, cried for a bit then I was ok 😂
The detective from gallifrey Oh good lmao
tmiiiiii lol jk omgggggg wowwwwww!!!! thas how u feel lmbo
The fact that Laverne and Natasha are so happy for Uzo that makes it more wonderful
She so totally deserved this.
I don't know why, but "Crazy Eyes" really struck a chord with me that no other character in the series did. I love this character so much.
Yeah i totally agree. "Crazy Eyes" story just got me in the feels. ;n;
Luna Skylar I HATE her character.. like I hate Larry's and Cal..
I LOVE Crazy Eyes. In season 3, just OMG.
Also, Red. I love Red.
I HATE Piper. I HATE Alex.
Damian Damour Lots of hate in you it seems.
Luna Skylar I'd be Red's prison wife for sure.
No one has ever played someone with mental illness that good she deserved this award she's a amazing actor
Exactamente!!!
Except people with mental illnesses
That’s a bold claim. I’ll admit she’s an incredible actress but lots of actors and actresses have played people with mental illnesses just was well. Look at Toni Collette in US of Tara.
@@greenblackswerlso the “lots of actors” is rlly just one person…

Can she get an award for this speech?
I know right
😊right
She basically just listed the people she wants to thank ^^
It was no doubt an emotional time - newbie - first nomination - first award.
I'm not sure I would have the ability to speak let alone speak so eloquently.
Off the cuff impressive speech
"I threw my pie for you."
Natasha and Laverne look genuinely happy for her you can tell there's a lot of love and support between them :)
They both deserve the award but Uzo does and amazingly phenomenal job as Suzanne warren
Uzo has been through so much! Her last audition was going to be for OITNB and she got the part! Omg I'm crying
Last? As in she wasn't going to act anymore?

I got goosebumps when (at how) they played "you've got time". I swear yall, oitnb should be like a nation or something!
Sameeee
***** I have to disagree!
***** I agree, I always skip past it.
+22runner me too, but because of the faces, they are super unnerving and the credits are too long.
+DenverGuy11111 Sucks to be you, I've got it in my iTunes library.
She just communicates on a different level, using 100% emotion and passion.
I love how she says 'need to thank' as opposed to 'I'd like to thank'; she's a truly amazing actress. I'm really glad she won.
This is how u give an acceptance speech, from the heart with no bullsh1t or politics. Excellent speech
I thought she was going to hit her head at 1:40 like Crazy Eyes does lol!
This was so emotional...
LMFAO IKR! But she is awesome
i was legit about to comment yhis

she deserved that award she is a great actress I love her performance as crazy eyes thank you for your great performance Uzo Aduba!
Glad she won, but Guest Actress? She's in every freaking episode!
She was billed as guest starring in those Episodes though in the credits
Season 1!! She was more a lead after that
I like to think they purposely put her in this category so she had a bigger chance of winning
What a heartfelt speech. Nothing like genuine humility to applaud another human beings accomplishments. Great show, great cast.

He didn’t mince any words, he didn’t leave any time for dramatic affect. He just went right into that name.
Why did he keep the award though instead of immediately giving it to her when she reached out her hands?
