Just as Joy Division became New Order and released Ceremony to honor Ian Curtis, Injury Reserve becomes By Storm and releases this to honor Jordan Groggs.
Rest in Power, Jordan Groggs, and thank you for all the inspiration you’ve given to music as a whole.

Interesting point from someone on RYM:
""Joy Division becomes New Order" has become a trending statement in these comment boxes. Surely, that comparative language to X and Y fills in the blanks and stokes conversation. Ian Curtis lost his life tragically at a young age, therefore Groggs suffering the same fate depicts the same connection.
I think these affirmations are well-meaning, but they paint over each other and distort the message. Ian's life was much different than Grogg's life, thus the context differentiates. Ian's death was not sudden or without premeditation: reading even a few lyrics from his headspace you could see how his soul came to terms with finality, as he loosened his grip on this mortal coil.
Groggs on the other hand? Groggs had so much going for him. So much he wanted to live for and overcome. Being a father, trying to escape alcoholism. Just signed to a big label with aspirations of making it 'big.' Death makes no comparison but the people who experience it are very different. The passing of both makes our reality that more troubling, knowing that two bright individuals had made peace with existence. It's a shame they are not here to understand how their reverberations are still felt by many to this day.
So enough with that. Injury Reserve and Joy Division are separate entities with different story-lines. I won't be emphasizing this point again."

Bye Storm is one of the realest depictions of grief in any song I've heard. It doesn't offer a hopeful or optimistic note to end on, Ritchie basically says "yeah shit sucks and I don't know if it'll ever be the same as before, full stop," recognizing that there's really no silver lining to losing a loved one, you just gotta learn to live without them no matter how painful it is.

Injury Reserve were the first concert I ever went to, on the self-titled tour in 2019, and it was an incredible experience to say the least - the Koruna & Lime moshpit thrust me and my old roommate all the way to to the bar in the back of the venue! IR has been a huge part of my life ever since I found them through a Super Smash Bros. Melee combo video, and I was devastated when I heard Groggs passed away. I'm really glad that Ritchie and Parker are still gonna be around making absolute bangers going forward under the new name. Rest in power Jordan Groggs.

I remember seeing you guys in LA in 2017 the night DAMN. dropped. It was my first concert. I remember yall were blasting Kendrick on the speakers and we all sung along to HUMBLE. That was one of the wildest nights of my life. I remember Parker Corey was getting a haircut during the concert while DJing and Ritchie was moshing with us. One of my most treasured memories is after the show I asked for a picture with Groggs but my phone was acting up and I had to restart it and it was taking awhile. Being antisocial and getting anxiety cus there was a line forming behind me, I said it was okay and tried to head out, but Groggs insisted and even pulled in Parker Corey into the picture when it finally got working. Even if it was only around a 5 minute interaction, I could tell he was a legit guy and fully appreciated his fans. I hope hes resting easy now. INJURY RESERVE FOREVER.

the first time i ever heard injury reserve was in highschool, i think i was in sophmore year when i first heard see you sweat, from that moment forward i was hooked, i fell in love with the production, the rapping, the comradery and i kept that with me to this day, Injury Reserve sound tracked my life. It got me through high school, through one of the hardest break ups of my life, my first car, etc etc. I remember being there for the debut studio album and hearing three man weave and just feeling this odd sort of satisfaction, i don't know any of you yet what you've given me is so beautiful and important, i was happy and excited to see what you guys would do next. When the news dropped it hit me like a truck, it was hard to listen to the songs that meant so much to me again, but as time passed i kept listening, i couldnt listen to Three Man Weave or the feature off Fetus without crying for a long time, i still can't listen to Knees without feeling a profound sadness, but at the same time, i feel so happy that you guys are continuing on, you guys truly are making some of the best shit out here and regardless of how Injury Reserve ended, it gave me the soundtrack to some of the most interesting years of my life, here's to By Storm soundtracking my adulthood.
Thank you so much guys, you guys came out swinging with this beautiful song, RIP Groggs.

You know, I think that the fact that the whole "Double Trio" part of the video shows Ritchie waking up, going out of bed and just... going back to make music and doing what he (and Parker) does best, especially after the "Bye Storm" part was him sleeping, it has something very heartwarming, like they both are determined to not giving up and keeping on making great music because this is surely what Groggs would have wanted. Plus, with how chaotic but also pretty the song is, it totall fits!
So, yeah, personally, I'm not worried about the future of IR/By Storm. Not worried at all. It was pretty good. R.I.P, Groggs.

R.I.P. Groggs. Injury Reserve was its own period in time that was sadly cut too short, but from it rises By Storm. I hope you guys are doing well healing, this is a fantastic tribute and I wish you both nothing but happiness and success under this new banner, highly looking forward to what the next steps will be!
