Hey Aaron , Coincidentally I received my 6' 6" light , Miracle Bass rod last week , also at 50% off !! I slapped one of my Acura HICC-50's on it, and it looks amazing !! It's loaded with some Seaguar Basix straight 6# fluorocarbon. Tossed a 1/16 Ned/TRD soft plastic 50' no problem... I ran out of backyard !! Lol, feels like it's going to be a great single hook, light bass rod !! cheers !!
Aaron how do you feel about the sensitivity? I've been looking for a more "power" bfs rod for bottom bouncing Texas rigs and jigs, and this one looks promising. @@AaronHuntFishing
@@Mirza-gt9rr Sensitivity is great for a budget rod. Perhaps the best bottom feel from an under- $100 rod I've experienced. No nuance, but it transmits bites and rocks well.
Just ordered mine! Have a Phenix Classic BFS 6'8" L on backorder til April, figured why not get this for $35 in the meantime. Going to look great with my Acura Pro. Thanks for this!
Congrats on backing off the beer my friend I enjoy watching your videos as most of my fishing is BFS soloking Acura is most of my arsenal with jenko double down and the falcon grinder and one magic L in ML/ mod fast can’t wait to try that one out
Just tried the 6’ 4” with my new Doviello Acura with .6 goh Veritas 4-strand braid to 6 lb FC sniper leader. Threw a 1/8 ounce ball head jig and 2.75” Keitech. Started external breaks at 4, spool tension just enough to eliminate any side to side movement. Got decent casting range, no blowups or fluffing. Loosened up the spool tension a tad and went to 3 on brakes: nice jump in distance. 15 casts, no blowups, went to 2.5. Whoah baby now we’re talking! I do believe I was getting close to the distance I get on a medium light spinning rod but with all the fun of a baitcaster! Yes, a bit more thumbing needed when you get below 3 on the brakes but I am impressed with the rod and the reel. BUT-the Acura feels like a budget reel on the retrieve. Hard to explain but I can feel a bit of a geary thing going on. Nothing huge and for the $$ still an INSANE deal. But it’s got me wondering what a higher-end BFS reel feels like. Stay tuned 😅
So for maybe $75 you have a killer combo. I've said a few times if you've used better gear you can feel the difference in the CDM budget reels. But it's hard to beat the price. And my Dark Wolf Ultra is still doing well at 2+ years.
@@AaronHuntFishing 100%. I did manage to blow it up yesterday with a shyte backhand cast into the wind. User error for sure. Lost a bit of line but frankly I was prolly over spooled anyway so no biggie. But my god that .06 goh line is thin… I just know I’m gonna lose a fish on it some day.
@@DavidBronstein1961 With the right drag and a good knot you should be fine - unless you hook at 20+ pound monster that just out maneuvers you... or something toothy bites you off...
I purchased two of the Handing Magic L 6' ultralight spinning rods. I'm impressed for the money. I know you're mainly BFS but the spinning rod was quite nice for $30. They are fairly sensitive too. I've been chasing trout with them.
I also bought the ML rod, really think for $35 this was a great purchase. Thinking this will be a great addition, something to throw some jigs for bass, maybe walleye and crappie. Looks great, feels really nice in hand. Glad to see a review. Hope you have checked out the magic ultralight as well. I have the 6'6" both in spinning and casting, the spinning is a great crappie rod, cant wait to get out with the casting as my first BFS setup! Thanks for the review!
I'm familiar with the magic, but I'm 100% well stocked on UL class rods. So these are filling a void in my budget arsenal and my kayak fishing needs. Plus for the price I almost couldn't say no. :)
I’ve bought L and ML in Magic L , Soul and Bass plus the Shadow in ML . Only disappointment was the ML rating on Shadow , it’s more a 3/4-1oz rod . The Bass is the lightest weighting of the rods and for me has the most comfortable grip. Using them from my kayak and got to fish them last week Lake Anna Va and this weekend here in Jersey. The Bass C662L is my favorite and I might get another. The discounts come and go , stick it in save items and watch the prices jump around and discounts kicking in and out . Both Magic L were bought for around $26 and the rest have all be between $34 and $43.
they dropped the retail price down to $20 now and coupons still apply ......i bought 1 and its hands down the best $20 rod ever also picked up the magic soul and mirage for around the same price
I spent the afternoon with the ML 6’ 4” throwing traps, small paddle tails and underspins to about 10 grams. It’s a bit more parabolic than I am used to, prolly because it’s my first casting rod below M power. But it does have a fast tip and really launched the baits. Used my new “old” SLX MGL 70 (not the one with the mgl3 spool) with 10 lb Invizx. I would say that reel is a tad heavy for this rod but not a huge mismatch. Did try to throw a tiny MB Rozante and backlashed a bit. Not sure if that was the rod or reel being a bad match for such a light crank. Hopefully the Soloking I ordered from Aliexpress should be a perfect match weight-wise and handle smaller baits better. Quality of the rod components is INSANE for $35. May get the light power and use it with the smaller Soloking spool for stream fishing.
Agreed - excellent value. A few folks said it might feel liek a broomstick to me because I use softer rods in general, but it feels like a proper fast, light rod to me so far.
Not a bad looking rod for a great price. Thanks for sharing! What line do you prefer for your BFS reels? Looking to get my first BFS set-up and am not sure which line to start with.
I used Daiwa J-braid all of last year. Switching over to Sunline Siglon currently - knot strength seems to be better. I pretty much always run braid. 8# or less.
It's nice for the budget prices. These crept up to around $100 at one point, and they're not worth that for me. But in the $50 and under range, i think they're decent.
I haven't seen many reviews of this rod. Thanks for the unboxing
I hadn't either, which is part of why I gave it a try. I'll do an initial impressions video within a few weeks. Full review will take a while.

@AaronHuntFishing That's all the confirmation I needed lol. Just ordered 2. One 6'6 light like you have, and one medium light 👍

Awesome - as a back-up rod for our nicer gear, these budget rods are a great option - especially when they're on sale.

Hey thanks for the video and the good deal ordered one from your link thinking of pairing it with the seasir commando for some power bfs applications
Sounds good - let me know how it works out!
