For tradition cultivating company like Patek Philippe these watches are true novelties. In colour, in design, in overall appeal. Big steps forward to modernity. But some things never change: astounding design and finish of the calibres, amazing cases, stunning dials and dazzling beauty of Patek Philippe watches. Lovely video, Alexander !
Gorgeous watches Alexander! Thankyou for showing us these. I agree a blue version is needed. The contrast between the white printing and darker green or blue dial is wonderful.
Excellent review Alexander. 5172 is such a classic yet modern Patek piece….you can never go wrong with either colour dial. The watch case design and finish is pure class, the dial Ted tire and finish unique and the movement finish and look sublime! As for me, I probably a tad more in favour of Salmon dial. This could can be dressed up or down and is relatively neutral and will go well with any attire, all you need to do is to have more than one strap available to change the “look”.
Fabulous watches Alex, who wouldn’t want to see that fabulous movement through the case back, not I will likely be in the market for one anytime soon. Anyway I finally got my faulty Longines Spirit Chronograph replaced, perhaps contacting Longines directly helped? Many thanks for kind offer of help earlier regarding this. I do hope my new Longines serves me well. I can’t help but think that it’s a lot of watch for the money, but they do have the might of the Swatch group behind them. I do hope that Longines are repositioning themselves in the market to challenge Tudor etc as you discussed in one of your other postings, especially as Omega now seems to repositioning to compete more with Rolex. Keep posting your excellent watch reviews.
Last week I was able to try on the salmon dial chrono. This has to be the perfect watch! It wears a lot smaller than 41mm, the dial looked amazing with my skin tone and the pushers have the best feelings to them - the starter/stoper is crisp and defined and the reset is smooth like butter.
Thanks 🙏🏻 Believe me I would have wanted to show you guys working watches…. but since so many “watch-journalists” break watches due to mishandling more and more companies tend to only show blocked ones. What a shame though…
Would love to see the 5172G compared to the Breitling Premier B09 40mm. I just picked up the B09 in red gold after comparing/shopping around for quite a while and just could not find anything similiar in case material, quality, durability, and heritage in the price range the Breitling offered. I know I would’ve saved a bunch on the secondary market but was a celebrating a life milestone and figured to splurge since I really never plan on selling. Both of these Patek’s are absolutely stunning, but way too expensive for my pockets. Excellent vid!!
Thanks for showcasing both watches. The 5172G in salmon dial is very classy and understated. While I like the 5270P, I think the green dial will grab too much attention unless that’s what one is looking for. The 5172G in salmon dial can be worn as an everyday watch.
@@WatchAdvisor Was Sie nicht sagen! I know about this as well as anybody on this planet, Alexander! :-0 I did get a 5212A from one of Patek's ADs here in England. But the whole experience, the sheer amount I had to spend first on other things.......nun, sagen wir so: ich habe keinerlei Lust, diese wahnsinnige Erfahrung zu wiederholen. (Sie ist aber eine verdammt geile Uhr - trotzdem :-D)
I agree with the blue - my favorite color too. Green is not my color so I can’t say anything about it … the execution is gorgeous… but tastes are different

Great reviews, Alexander! I'm a big fan of the 5172 with the rose dial. Proof that Patek still cares about making beautiful watches - an increasing rarity amongst the new Complications. That said, I think the dial slightly underperforms on screen (eg cp VC Traditionnelle). Nothing against your camerawork, there's something about the Patek's shade and texture that eludes even studio still photography! Unfortunately, not easy to see in the metal either and the devil is in the detail with these pink dials!
To me the green gradient dial is a design flaw. First of all, too many elements with the chrono details and the gradient color. So much so, it distracts from the design. A brand like Patek cannot just add a different dial color to an already existing design - it does not work like that. Secondly, the strap is nicer than the dial with this configuration. Third, who would actually pay (and wait) to get the green one? Probably someone that already has the classic one(s).
The blue 5172 G is a watch for the active man aged 30-50, with a clear sportiness. 5172 G pink for a man aged 50 and over. A casual watch for a man who does not necessarily like sports. I like both, but my choice is 5172G in mate marine blue.
One of the dumbest comments I’ve read on TH-cam about watches. Ever. I’m well under 50 and by far prefer the rose dial. It’s just color preference. Your interpretation of age association is probably just due to the strap.
It's for these marvels we love watches , thank you PP and WA for bringing us this beauty 😍

Dear Watchadvisor ... patek 5172G or Lange chronograph 1815 can u provide ur honest opinion 🤔
I personally would always go for an A. Lange & Söhne...
Love the Green dail, beautiful piece
May I ask: Will green remain a desirable dial color or is it just a temporary trend?
The green Dial is stunning
Green and blue are the two new color stars…

The green dial is not for me, but the 5172G is so lovely. Classic, elegant and refined. True Patek.
5172… which dial would you choose?
That green is the best green I’ve seen so far. Other greens from other watch makers seem dull and trend orientated. Great video Alex.
I agree, this green stands out…
@@WatchAdvisor Look at the 2022 Breitling Navitimer models.
@@aquetheblues Yes, I know… but I don’t think PP took any inspiration from these watches…

That’s good news! 💯 Thanks for sharing! As your “dealer” we will continue to deliver… 🤣👻
Just wow a pair of absolute beauties I'd give my right arm for the salmon dial
I’d give mine for the blue dial 😉
The blue one is pure class
Yep!!! So true!!!
Nice pieces
Which one would you choose?
That 5172 is stunning
Blue or “salmon” dial?
@@WatchAdvisor Both good, but I lean towards "salmon"
Two absolute cracking watches.

It is a particular 5270, yes… Even though the green is spectacular I wouldn’t want to wear it that way…
Sensationell!
Das kann man so stehen lassen... JA!
nice content ! thank you

Sublime
The most challenging thing is to get one, even when you have the money…

Salmon dial 🔥🔥🔥

James, thanks for sharing! Comparing the PP with the VC would be ideal of course… But where? Not even in Switzerland I would know where to go… 🤷🏼♂️
These are the most good looking chronohraph watches (sadly expensive )
Expensive, yes… and even if you have the money hard to get…
The lugs are hanging off your wrist a bit. Other than that the watches look amazing.
I have no problem with bigger watches than my wrist size „allows“… I would always wear what I like …
@@WatchAdvisor I'm glad to hear, my friend! Take care.
Displaying watch on those granny wrists doesn’t help either.

That’s an over generalization. You can like either the blue or salmon color depending on your preference not your age.
incorrect
