    Mechanical engineer here been working for about 2 yrs now - thanks for the simple explanation. I was actually wondering why its 4-20ma instead of 0-20 before you mentioned it. Would love to kkow why.

    The reason we don't use 4-20mA is to identify when there is a connection breakout..
    We know the minimal value is 4mA and the maximum is 20mA, However when the value becomes 0mA it shows there is a connection breakout as this can be caused by certain factors say transmitter faulty or maybe no continuity of instrument signal
