    Started running a couple of months ago, and even tho I already ran a hm I still don't know anything about technical running stuff, so thanks a lot for what you're doing and sharing on your channel, Amy!! I'm literally binge-watching every video, so I cannot wait to see new ones :)

    I’ve been using Strava (with a subscription) for over 3 years and without for probably 6-7 years… I’ve just realised that the primary reason fore the subscription was the Beacon feature so my wife could have a track on me while I was out on my road bike… But again Garmin does (kind of the same) with the crash detection on their Edge units 👍
    Another reason was the segments… but again I realised that I actually didn’t used it that much… So now I’ve stoped my subscription and looking much more into the features of Garmin Connect 😊
    I can see thou, that my Fenix3 watch might need and upgrade to a Fenix6 with wrist HR… I’m lazy and often forget to put on my HR strap 🫣😂

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the paid subscription would be nice at times but I also agree - most of the features can be found for free on garmin or other apps 😊 did you end up upgrading to the fenix 6?

    Thanks fir the video, always good to see how others use Garmin Data, my main sport is cycling, I do use Strava but mainly focus on the Data provided from Garmin and connected power meter and heart rate monitor, I’m not convinced about body battery though, it never goes above 80 for myself and I raced the Maratona dles Dolomites with a body battery of just 30! 86 miles and 14000 feet of climbing and I had an excellent day when Garmin body battery is telling me I shouldn’t be doing anything other than resting 🤷‍♂️

      So glad you dropped by! I also like seeing how other athletes train, it’s so fascinating. There’s a few things about Garmin that I’m not convinced by haha but that still doesn’t make me less obsessed by my watch 😂 your race sounded so intense and amazing! Congrats!!

    Talking about sports, I think Strava have some great features that garmin connect don't. For example Relative Efforts. Is there a similar tool like this in Garmin connect?

    I stay off Strava because it can be a little too social. I like Garmin Connect for all of the reasons you stated. I also recommend the HRM chest monitor. It gives you even more data. Some days, I just geek out on all of the data from my run. I think the HRM heart rate data is more accurate than the optical HR data from the watch. The data from the optical sensor seems to show a higher HR than I feel. The HRM data seems more realistic. Anyway, thank you for a great video.

      I completely get that about Strava! Glad you're also enjoying Garmin Connect. Maybe one day I'll get a chest strap - is it super bulky when you run?
      Thanks and happy running!

      Do you mean, share how your own workout went? Or share a pre-programmed workout? For the latter, I don’t think it’s possible (or I haven’t figured out how to do it!). I do know there’s an option to share your workout on Garmin connect.

      I wonder if there’s a way to change the display, so it shows more than the heart rate! Are there any videos on your specific watch model? That might help! Or the garmin website, they might have a chat help line!

    I have a Garmin 45 and when I look at my Breakdown of my laps/paces I could turn my iphone sideways and it would give a a great breakdown. There is a icon pic at the bottom of the screen to show you that you can turn it sideways, Well today is it no longer working when I turn my phone sideways where as it did before. Do you know if this is still available as I find it very helpful to see the full breakdown for each lap. thank you

    Hey Amy. What Garmin do you have? I prefer Garmin over Strava but I also use something called Runalyze which has great features. It's free but I subscribe so no ads on the webpage. When I program my workout on Garmin Connect I also select my strides at the beginning of my work out as warmup rather than run so when you select run you don't have the few slower strides in the equation. I had a HM race on Sunday and my V training effect were 5 for Aerobic and 4 for Anerobic so now I have to rest/go easy for 72hrs. I'm 58 and had a time of 1:32;23 and it was a PB for that course Auckland HM in NZ so I was happy with 2nd in my age group. I'll never be as fast as you but I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work.

      I have the Garmin 745 and love it! Oh, I will definitely check out Runalyze - sounds really cool. Congrats on your HM race!! That's an awesome time!! Yes, enjoy a bit of downtime - you earned it :) and thank you!

  • @Burps___

    Thanks, Amy. The new COROS training hub looks almost identical to Garmin Connect. When you program workouts into your watch, do you program in rests, too? Like 400m x 4 with 2 minute rests...you program it all in the watch? I cannot figure it out bc when I see ahtletes on TH-cam doing intervals, they are always pushing watch buttons. LOL Thanks (So, I guess this is a "yes" to your mention of possible future video on programming and how to use the watch LOL)

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh that’s good to know! And I personally do program the rests in the workout, then I don’t have to constantly be looking at when the rest is over. The only time I tend to force lap (press the button) to the speed portion is if my watch is not in sync with other runners I’m doing the workout with. I will add the how to program workouts video to my list though! 😊

    What is the difference between Garmin Connect and Garmin Clipboard

    • @amyspurrcaveney
      @amyspurrcaveney  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not personally familiar with the Clipboard app, but to me it seems like a training platform for coaches to use with athletes! Garmin connect is the app connected to your own personal garmin device that you can see stats for but not share (unless you want with another athlete). You can track sleep and other metrics in it too. Hope they makers sense!
