As a Hispanic I've heard this song all my life (I'm 31) and a woman burned by love I've felt this in my soul. Years later and I mean years lol my best friend (she's white) was going through a rough heartbreak. I translated the lyrics for her well more like Googled them. I played the song for her and she felt a strong connection to this song. A couple of weeks later, my best friend knew the entire song in Spanish. And till this day she still sings this song when she's feeling down.

If you want to really see Yuri at her best vocally you should watch her perform her song "Quien Eres Tu". She has said herself this is actually her favorite song in her repertoire.
I also love how well developed Yuri's low register is - it comes so easy to her. In this performance she goes all the way down to a Bb2 which is insane for a woman.

Yuri creo que es una de las mejores voces que quedan de los años 70,80 y 90... hay algunas cantantes a las que la voz se les desgastó un poco, han sabido reinventarse pero la calidad no es la misma, pero esto no pasa con yuri... ella está con una voz muy bien posicionada , estable y segura...realmente fabulosa.

Yuri started her singing career on a singing competition like American Idol. She won and became the greatest ambassador for Mexico as a pop singer. She used to be known as the Mexican Madonna. She has admitted that she used to imitate Madonna and you can research her videos and you can see a lot of influence and imitation. One of her song videos is similar if not identical to Madonna's "Express Yourself". Yuri is now a born again Christian but she still struggles with detaching herself from the "Madonna wannabe" style she was knwn for. Although, her voice really is what truly has elevated her to a place where she is one and only.
