Mae sa camp is very popular and was the first camp to train elephants to "paint" by being forced to mimic the movements of trainers painfully pulling on their ears, among other abusive practices. I'm so glad that the owner has listened to Lek and decided to adopt her business model. It's so much more rewarding for tourists to see elephants doing what they actually enjoy.
Lek, YOU are amazing! So, IF we want to come and volunteer to care for the elephants AND we have a steady source of income, can we just live there and care for them for the rest of their or OUR life? I would do that.

No neither should donkeys. You don't see elephants in the western world chained up by the feet and using hooks at their ears. Absolutely disgusting. India, Sri Lanka, Thailand it is common place but then without the elephants to do the work and earn money for the sub human where would you be?? propably worse off than you are already.
Well developed humans should have enough brain capacity to earn a decent living without giving unnecessary trauma/feet shackled slavery to elephants that don't belong to the human. If they are reliant on a tied up elephant for a living then they should rethink their strategy and place on earth. Final comment.
