Playing it right now with the Through the Valleys mod list and this game is unreal. It's unbelievably massive. Every single town feels huge. Every single NPC has something to say and like you said, seem to be related to some quest. You can enter any building you see. There's just so much content.
Oblivion is amazing in 2023 . I got an ROG ally and Installed Heartland Modpack , playing GORGEOUS graphics oblivion in 1080p with 4k textures . I’ve sunk so many hours into it . I’m having a blast . I haven’t been this immersed in a game in a long time !
Every few months or so I hop onto oblivion, make an absolute beauty of a character (make them hideous), complete the arena and some of the main quests, then hope off again. Super nostalgic but once you get playing and you really feel and see how old it is it gets hard not to go back to some other newer, nicer, larger game. Absolutely great game imo but it’s age gets to me
I can see that. I'm the same with Skyrim now - being so familiar with it - it's only really worth returning to soak up the atmosphere for a bit (or with a suite of new mods installed!)
Oblivion is my favorite game still despite a few things feeling aged it's the ambiance the creativity is what truly keeps this game fresh always finding new things years later.... Absolutely can't recommend it enough
I've been playing for a few days, and I've been fully drawn into this game. Morrowind is a few months older than me. It's more effort to play Morrowind but I was surprised at how much fun I've already had. I hope to continue
I am here because I have been playing Starfield for a while now and it got really stale fast. This game was my favorite of the Elder Scrolls series and I've reinstalled it again and it blows Starfield right out of the water.
well...if your intention was to entertain me for 25 minutes after planting Sharpe in my head so I'd be compelled to follow your fun video with a Sharpe binge...mission accomplished, Mage. Well done.
I admire your video. Oblivion will forever be a legendary game that aged fine like wine. Nothing like this will come for ages, it's like the marking of gaming history lol
i love how your like, this last quest is so hard, i guess i know this game too well now, i just run to the doors cause he just loads in xD theres no checks and balance for killing the enemies xD ty for the good video man xD Dark brotherhood is amazing, good luck man, glad to see you had fun with one of my childhood favorites xD, cried a bit at the role playing part T.T stay dry brother
The ability to cast spells and not have to put away your weapon is something no other elder scrolls game has pulled off. Still my favorite of the series. Cheers.
18:26 Martin never knew that he was the son of the emperor. Uriel fathered him in secret to ensure there would be a Septim remaining to light the Dragonfires even if all of his known heirs were eliminated.
1 great thing about Oblivion (Of many) Was that the joinable factions were better than Skyrim's and when you got to the highest rank and completed the final quest it feels like youve earned it. Whereas in Skyrim you become head of eg the College Of Winterhold after about 8 quests and theres no ranking system.
After spending hundreds of hours in Oblivion on my PC & Xbox360 back in the days, I found it time to replay it on the Steam Deck. Modded the game with the Unofficial patches, some survival mods, some graphic mods, etc. Long story short: I am loving Oblivion all over again! I find Oblivion better than Skyrim on almost all points, except character movement and fighting and graphics. ...And that's from someone that has spend 1600+ hours on Skyrim SE (modding).
I loved Oblivion, I think it had the best and most interesting storyline of the "modern" TES trilogy Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. My only issues with the game back in the day were how "sterilized" the world felt (if that makes sense) and how samey the Imperial City looked. It was very hard to tell the difference between each district without having played the game a lot.
I never understand these "Is game X good in Year Y?" How does a game (Often a single player game no longer receiving content or changes) just all of a sudden become Good/Not good because of the year we are in?
Because design trends come and go and sometimes a key selling point in a game is immersive cutting-edge graphics, which isn't a factor almost a decade later?

I've heard others say the same

Great to hear JD - I hadn't even thought about graphics mods - bet it looks great

lucky for me i love older games. i’m not a fan of the new huge AAA titles so that’s one of the things that makes oblivion so good for me
Beautifully spoken, your ability to use words in such a way to explain the game keeps me listening

Good to hear - I will hopefully find time to return to Morrowind in the not too distant future
It's the best Elder Scrolls game by a fairly wide margin. I still play it almost daily, with 48 specific mods.

Indeed. It's one of those pivotal games in the genre of RPG.

just the review i was looking for
Oblivion is still my favorite game of all time. Thank you for giving it a chance.

I'm playing for the first time on my work PC 😂
I love the "generic" fantasy setting myself. There's not many good games with that backdrop.
Have you played Kingdoms of Amalur? You might like that one too.
@@JittikMieger I have! Unfortunately it's a bit too grindy for me right now, have young kids
Wait, you can destroy those things that jump up in the gates? I always just avoid those.
to hear tale that there are ppl who think of Oblivion as ‘the flawed precursor to skyrim’ kinda breaks my heart a little
Steam sale right now.
Can get the game for like 5 bucks for the next few days.
I'm 11hrs into this game, not sure I done much lol closed an oblivion gate and joined dark brotherhood and killed cpt on boat that's it lol
Spellmaking! Playing without it feels really dull.
Yes
Morrowind was really a dumbing down of Daggerfall for console release.
👍👍👍
Better than Starfield in my view
I never understand these "Is game X good in Year Y?" How does a game (Often a single player game no longer receiving content or changes) just all of a sudden become Good/Not good because of the year we are in?
Because some old games has serious design problems just to make play time longer
Because design trends come and go and sometimes a key selling point in a game is immersive cutting-edge graphics, which isn't a factor almost a decade later?
Cant get Oblivion to run on windows 11 😢
