    I'm trying to convince the local FRC team to try this type of drive

    Hello, I am wondering how did you code this robot?

    you could do this with one motor for the turning, so 5 total. I think. You might only be able to turn one set of wheels without serious engineering

      Well, that would make it crab drive, not swerve drive. The key difference is that swerve drive requires each wheel to tilt independently to allow complex maneuvers like more efficient turns and stuff of that nature; crab drive can only move left, right, up, and down but cannot turn while doing so.

    Good job. Why did you stop posting videos.

    Why not use mecanum wheels?

    Do you need robotC to make robots like that?
    How can I get started on vex edr relatively cheaply?

      ya, it's expensive to start a team. more so for the parts. ~$500 for basic parts. it's only $50-75 per team entering a comepetion though.

      +Brandon Young I made a team with four of my friends this year, we all had to pitch in 200+ dollars and thats just for the basics. Joining any form of team near you is so much cheaper

    really cool but just get 4 omni wheels with tank control and a 5th wheel to strafe. same function, less motors

    • @kirbyfu2615
      @kirbyfu2615 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      you could do that, but then you would only have one motor to strafe whereas this has 4. Also you could do this with only five motors

    • @moose17m84
      @moose17m84 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do x drive and only have 4 motors

    Would be so much better with omni wheels
