    What truly shines through your work and TH-cam channel is a supremely confident artistic vision. That’s the hardest part of being a filmmaker and only few possess it to such degree. Gear comes way further down the pecking order.

    Thanks for the shoutout, my friend :)
    Makes perfect sense to move/travel more as your channel grows.
    Would you consider the US or UK because of the industry there? Or you're looking for a nice, high-quality but cheap place to live?

      I’m looking for options with little to no income tax. That’s why I mentioned the ones I did. In that context US/UK just don’t make enough sense. But maybe I will make up my mind once I visit :D

    Really appreciate your openness and honesty about everything! Hearing your story is inspiring, and really makes creatives like me feel like our goals are attainable. It's easy to feel like we can't be as good as the people we look up to, but hearing the struggles you go through and lessons you learned is really helpful. Keep up the TH-cam videos, and I'm happy to hear it's been a good path for you so far!

    You've got my subscription Nur! Thanks for breaking down so well the world of Creative Directing. As an Actor/Presenter/Writer and Spokesperson - moving into the realm of starting a Directing business is intimidating - but you bring it down to Lehman's terms with a sprinkle of true competence! I look forward to more - A question from me: From your experience, what is the best route to success to work with big brands for an actor like myself? Best

    Thank you so much for answering my question. Was waiting for it for a while now. I'm a video maker myself just without the camera, yet I still chose to teach myself a lot of things related to filmmaking. Your journey is very inspiring. Wish to go down a similar path like yours.

    Невероятно классный канал. Спасибо тебе огромное за инсперейшон! Я буду следить за твоим каналом и наслаждаться каждым видео. Правда, спасибо! Особенно благодаря вашему короткому метру, который вы сделали с помощью анреал энджина, я почувствовал, что меня не одного волнует эта тема и вы очень смело высказались о ней.

    Thank you Nur, for sharing so much great info! 💕 Could you help with the process of doing a spec commercial? Like how do you decide on the concept and brand? (existing or made-up brand?) Do you start withe concept or brand? How do you, as someone starting out, make a spec commercial that mirrors those of professionals, when you don't have the agency brief, process and advice to guide you through the process. I've made several financed, well-produced, and award-winning short films (!) but I don't have any commercial work (or music videos) to my name. And I'm a bit afraid of pulling the trigger, if I make a spec commercial and fail to get the brand, tone, or concept right, I'd might be out of too much money and favours to ever do a second one. Or should I make a music video instead? And if so, how would you go about finding the right artist? My goal right now is to get represented and get the chance to pitch for commercial work.

    Hi Nur, hope you're well. I have a few questions for you - Who are you pitching to? Is it to the ad agency or production company? Should I ever pitch to a company directly? And are you going in cold and saying - "Hey, I have an idea for a commercial for you!" or are these people putting out a brief and soliciting pitches? If so where do these briefs come from? Do they email you or is it posted on some sort of closed forum for established directors? Thank you in advance!

    • @nur-niaz
      @nur-niaz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a good question!
      Generally the industry is setup this way:
      1. A brand needs an ad campaign and they find a creative agency to execute the project
      2. The creative agency needs a video (as part of the campaign) and they find a production company to execute the video/videos
      3. The production company hires a director to direct the video.
      Now as a director in order to get hired I have to be in contact with production company/companies, so that when the production thinks I’m a good fit for the agency’s brief I get contacted. Then I have to write a treatment where I present my ideas and if the agency and the brand likes it, they choose me over other candidates and I proceed with the job.

    How much does this general advice apply to Directors instead of Dp’s? Would really interest me.

    • @nur-niaz
      @nur-niaz  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m a director myself so I guess this applies more to a director than a DP, though I’m sure all sorts of filmmakers can relate.
