    Just because rock n roll is not mainstream does not mean it's dead. there'll still be kids like me who value it over today's insubstantial music. radio play or not, it's still with us all.
    like AC/DC said, rock n roll, it will survive.

    I'll tell you, for a while I thought rock was dead, but in my last year of high school (I graduated in 2018) I had grown out my hair to my shoulders, and parted it down the middle over the summer, and I remember walking in the first day back, and everyone there either had long hair, a rock band t-shirt, or both, the most prominent band t-shirts were KISS, Queen, Def Leppard, Avenged Sevenfold, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, everything, and I looked around and said, "Damn... good job my generation". So really, I dont think rock is dead, I think it's just in lying in dormant, and I think its definitely starting to make a resurgence, with bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Steel Panther, Imagine Dragons, and others, and rock will probably spring back within the next decade, that's what I think.

      Nice to hear your personal experience and of your classmates. Your anecdote puts me in mind of when I was in high school in 1984...ya gotta understand that at the time at our school in southern California it was NOT cool to have long hair or be into "old" heavy metal bands from the 60s or 70s. Most of the kids were clean cut jocks or preppie kids, the girls were looking all new wave..the dawn of Madonna and Michael Jackson etc...more like dance music, pop, R&B etc.
      So anyways, me and about 50 other guys had the leather jackets and the long hair, all into Scorpions, Maiden, Judas Priest totally rock n roll. My buddy was wearing a Black Sabbath tee shirt...and our teacher comes walking in...ya know, some "old" guy like 45 years old, and he looks at my buddy's Sabbath tee shirt and he said, "Wow it's totally cool that you young guys are into the same music that I was when I was YOUR age!" And here it is...3 and a half decades later and now I'M the old dude saying the same thing to you. As long as there is YOUNG talent and FRESH bands to take the reins, the music we love will still inspire others.
      Rock on, my brotha!

    Finally someone gives a real advice to beginners “if you think you have something, stick to it and keep going” very simple. The advice people always get is that you have to build your network and the marketing and the social media and all that BULLSHIT. If you have what it takes to succeed if you keep doing it you’ll succeed eventually, there’s no mistake about that. If you don’t make it is because you don’t have it, simple.

    rock isn't dead, it's just evolved and changed as it has been for the past 50-60 years. The problem is that people look for popular rock that sounds like the rock from the 70s, 80s, 90s etc. You won't find that. Rock has since evolved, as it will continue to do so in the future. Studies have proven that rock is by far one of the most popular genres of music among today's youth. Dead? I don't think so.
    I'd also like to mention that we've had tons of mainstream rock in this decade, and tons of rock albums top the charts.

    • @bm625
      @bm625 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheHybriQ
      I think he was just partially right. You touched on it yourself. I'm 49 years old. When I was a kid and a young adult I played in a few bands and one thing we always strove for was to be "rich and famous" doing what we loved. We strove to be like our heroes. Kiss, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, etc.
      You said it yourself, "Maybe they're not making millions but they're still making money". That's what Gene was talking about. Back in his day if a record label liked a band, they'd fund their albums and tours, and the more money the band made for the label the more money they made for themselves.
      Of course you have instances like in Black Sabbath's early days where the label doesn't pay them as much as they should've been. But nowadays labels don't promote bands like they used to and free downloading has really hurt most album sales. Some bands rely heavily on merchandise sales for a lot of their income.

    • @TheHybriQ
      @TheHybriQ 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BM Todays kids (like me) also want to be "famous and rich". You can slik make a lot of money playing rock and roll. Arctic Monkeys for an example, are a newish band (not new but in the second half of 2000's where people ere also speaking about how new bans can't make money). They sell a lot of albums (not like be before of course) and make good money

    I don't listen to rock much anymore myself because electro music just seems a lot more interesting and I can't really think of any rock bands I like right now. Rock isn't dead, it's just that it has a lot more competition now from more modern genres. I still listen to it now and then just not that much.

      that why I think next major genre of rock will be some genre of electric rock. it more complex than just regular rock because a lot more note to harmonized. well so far my favorite genre of electric is chip tune rock.

      That's not a bad idea, a rock band that's all electronic. It would be normal rock songs as far as lyrics and melodies go but all electro music instead of guitars etc.

    • @spark300c
      @spark300c 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Otto Nomicus "That's not a bad idea, a rock band that's all electronic." that synth pop or techno. electric rock has guitar
      and drums but some times the baseline is electronic and have another line that is synth.

      Otto Nomicus raw timbre are good. chip tunes are very basic in timbre and very bright sounding and sound good with the electric guitar. for me just give the name the top line the chip tune line and for that line I do not use chords but have sync up with power cords from the guitar. all electric sounds have to be crafted to were they sound good with guitar. this year I heard some good electric rock.

    The Digital Age has caused fragmentation and saturation. Also shows like X Factor and the Idols have caused it to be too formulaic. Check out this the late great Greg Lake talking about his Gibson J200 guitars and in it he will give you the answer. No Rock is not dead but it is not the Center of Attention 24/7 like it used to be . We are becoming a world of niches with this Internet Digital Age . Last thing I saw was old school mania in music center of the Universe was Bruno Mars' SuperBowl performance.

    the 90s killed rock, it was all parties, hot women and fuck chicks but then nirvana happened and it go down every since. rock in the last 30 years has been perceived as music for creepy depressed people. they also sound very 90ish punk rock, instead of going with the blues like many others from other genres are doing. some even say country is more rock n roll than rock itself, its sad

    Where is the great music? And if there is, what are they singing about, about cell phones, about the internet cause romance is dead also...

    This is coming from a KISS fan: KISS is Dead not Rock and Roll. KISS is dead and buried but a Necromancer comes around and throws money at the corps and they come back for a for a few weeks to play a live show.

    False reporting. Gene clarified his statements and explained that he meant the rock industry is dead and that there are no more iconic bands such as the 90's, 80's, 70's and so on. Also, KISS is an amazing band and vastly superior to AC/DC.... not to mention, if it wasn't for Gene, AC/DC wouldn't have received their huge break.

    No Brian, Gene was terribly right. Scott Z nailed it in his posting. Lest you forget Brian, who took AC/DC on their first major tour? Hmmm let's see, the same band, ( KISS), that took, Cheap Trick, Judas Priest, Rush, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Queensryche, Slaughter..etc, etc. Oh then there is this band, "Van Halen", that I think a guy by the name of Gene Simmons financed their demo tape.
