My dia sister, thanks for sharing 👍 I am so sorry for all you went through. 💔 that's Africa for you. Thank God you are settled. Welcome to my country, Uganda . I just subscribed. I pray to meet you one day I am in Uganda. My advice to all trying to Africa. Please first go visit, get to know the community first before you move. Be careful because scams are everywhere, even worse in Europe 🇪🇺.
I live in Boston and we have been scammed not only by a lawyer, and financial lenders and contractors. As I type this, I am looking for painters but most of them want cash upfront, at least 50%! We have lost a lot $$ to contractors, especially those who come claiming to be Christians. We even lost $1500 to two members of our church. We refinanced our house and need to do some interior painting but we can't afford to lose it to scammed. The point is as long as we are dealing with human beings, we are going to run into scammers. This is an opportunity for "KEGANDA" to come up with a reference list of reputable professionals who can be held to account. Good luck to you and keep the faith.
New subscriber. Your tenacity will pay off, and everything that is stolen (scammed) from you, you shall recover double. Stay in faith. Looking forward to hearing about your successes! 🙏🏽
TYSM for your transparency in this journey. This is so generous of you to share & valuable for those coming after you. May TMH recompense you for all taxation for being American and rebuke those who try to going forward. Bless you!
Discovered you from Kenganda. My family is from Uganda, i live in North America but intend to visit Uganda more often. I really wish you and your family the very best in Uganda. Business environment there is quite slow but presents a lot of opportunity. Just make sure to take your time, and vet everyone. People aren't as honest, and trustworthy as they may present to be. There are however many good people. Exercise patience, and don't always be quick to write any cheques.
Thanks for the advice. We're working on those things every day. Slowing down, being vigilant and patient. I must admit like you said it's some good people here though.
@@AfricaEverAfter The systems and controls in a lot of places in Uganda are inefficient or non-extistent for the most part so you are exposed to a lot of human ingenuity and dishonesty, otherwise people are hishonest everywhere in the world (including the States). What makes the world that you and me different, is that systems and controls are effective. Now there is where your opportunities in a country like Uganda lie. Provide a better service, get your staff and customers to see things differently......and you will surely succeed. I WISH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY THE VERY BEST, YOU ARE GREAT PEOPLE !!
Just watched you on kenganda and just loved your attitude. I travel to Uganda every year. One thing you have to understand is that every country offers challenges...In Germany for example ,the paper work though fast its crazy and once you qualify for taxes the govt takes unto 45%....Then about Kenya things are a little bit faster, people are more aggressive too but I think less opportunity for business empire growth ,Uganda still lacks /so many inefficiencies like you mentioned , ...customer-care kills me most and then you got Indians who are ...like terrible . Since you are in the meat industry ,I would suggest also bio labelled meat as I never see any labels in supermarkets....alot of marketing and expose ofcourse ..Good luck.
Lol, laughing with you. The same happened to me. Sometimes they just want you to "appreciate" them to get your business name. I refused to participate in corruption and pushed on. I have a really good friend here who is a lawyer, she owns a bakery and a hardware store, and is a law lecturer at the University. She is a genuine friend and my go to with any legalities, but get her quick if interested she keeps singing to me about being tired of Uganda and its ways and wanting to go to South Africa for her Doctorate ..
Thank you for sharing your story. It looks like a tedious process, but as they say, anything worth having is worth working towards. If we were to remain stagnant and try to open a business here in the states, it would still be an uphill process because if you don’t have the capital/credit necessary, it can sometimes not be feasible. I salute you & your family and pray that TMH will continue to order your steps as you look to Him for provision. Shalom! ❤
The receipt for trading license often has different money to what you pay! We are trading business we pay 600,000 every year but on the receipts show 428,000 ugx! I think it has to do with government! I usually pay in the bank after getting a trading license!😊
Just subscribed 😊 Can you discuss the various visa requirements/options for AA’s who are retired, starting a business, or young AA’s who want to live in Uganda?
I understand how people feel going to Africa and experiencing these things, but my wife and I are business owners in the US. we have issues in the US that makes that entire situation seem small.
We the US in 6 days, I would like contact you or someone to make the weekly report of our experiences in Uganda we plan to be there for 5 months, our plans are stay in kampala for about 3 to 4 days then find something more permanent.
Hi thanks for sharing your story. Our family also moved from the West to Uganda. We have been here for just over a year. It would be nice to talk and share experiences as African diaspora returnees. Do you have an email address where we can reach you?
Sorry for that and I think you know that it's everywhere in Africa and even in Mexico if they find out that you're from USA many times you pay more than what the local people pay. 😢 but thanks for sharing ❤
Do me a favor...go spend a month in Kenya, it fits you best...great international schools, and lots of accessibility for you and your kids, and many black american families couples with kids...and nobody harasses you even if you are alone at a cafe, because kenya is a big tourists and international nomadic work environment
Whether it's Kenya 🇰🇪 or Uganda 🇺🇬 or somewhere else, the East African Community countries are wide open for African Americans wanting to relocate. This is the most progressive economic and political subregion in Africa 💪🏾😍
You can start an account with as little as $5 USD. However I will say that we were told if your business has less than 40 million shillings which is roughly $10,000 in the account you make an audited more often as a government may see your business as illegitimate. Permit cost vary
Hello, thanks for the information, are you open to partnership in Uganda? I want to invest in Uganda, buy land and going into agriculture, what knowledge or opportunities do you know or you have? Do you know company’s with opportunities in Uganda that diasporas can invest?

I paid the lawyer just 1 million ug× they did everything!!
You found a good lawyer. It took us getting burned before we found one.
Never pay the cash to the officials because all those taxes can be paid to the bank or by mobile money
Great tip. I know now. Thanks!
