I'm raising my 5th Chow. He is my 18th dog which means I've had other breeds. At this time he is my only dog and it will remain that way. The 1 on 1 relationship is amazing. There is NO better or greater breed.
What a true statement! I am raising my 2nd and will stay with this breed as well. My first one was very aloof and independent and the current one, 11.5 years is much a teddy bear and always want to be part of things we do. He used to sleep in my arm until he has separated disks and on wheelchair when we go for walk.
Chows are wonderful dogs who require an experienced owner. You wont find a more loyal and protective friend! My current one is 14 and her father lived to 16. A serious commitment is required!
Hi Amanda. The general rule is that your chow will tolerate breeds smaller than it is. I have 4 dogs. 2 Chows, 1 poodle and a mix. My male chow is very dominant. Nobody but I can hold or wrestle him. But anyone else is absolutely cautious around him. The good thing is, he allows all our other dogs to abuse him. Our smallest dog always acts proud and aggressive towards my Chow but he is perfectly fine that way.
@@kenlngo My current Chow always get attacked by small Terrier type of dogs but he never bite them back or even barks at squirrel but not with the other one I had. He will not start, but will not put up with it.
We raised our kids with a chow/lab & our daughter got a chow/neffy, they both were the best dogs we ever knew. our chow had a special relationship with our son & we truly thought it was because of our son's autism. then with our daughter's chow, her & our youngest granddaughter who has autism well needless to say they loved each other so much. They had tea parties together & the chow never touched her cookies or tea until our granddaughter said so, & yes she drank tea too.
AKC demands a black nose. Almost 100% of cream chows have tan noses. This is a disqualifying feature in AKC. But European Kennel Club will accept a tan nose in a cream chow. Therefore you don't see many cream Chows as champions.

In Italian it's not literal, they use "troia" which means sow/female pig (for the same reason) and "lupa" which is a shewolf, that's why it's thought that Romulus and Remus were raised by a prostitute not a literal shewolf. In other similar conditions, the slur "puta" comes from the Latin "putae" which means children (in plural), because an actual "puta" is a "mother of many children with many fathers". Such is the history of misogynistic slurs.
I have a cinnamon chow chow; I think she’s fairly correct - she’s only 5month old though so has growing to do. Not that I’m bothered - she’s much loved for who she is even though she tries my patience at times! Lol. I can’t say she’s the best breed as I love all dogs and animals equally; I’m not a fan of spiders and flies, but they have their place so I try to let them out ☺️
I have a perfect Chow Chow, but I hate the called a female dog a bitch, for that I gave an unlike, my Chow Chow is virgen, the female dogs have sec only in specific time when she’s in heat, when you call a bitch is a prostitute who have sex with anybody and any time

So true. Ive fostered and rescued chows for 30 yrs. They are a wonderful companion.

You are correct. Most Cream Chows lose their black nose after their 2nd year. And it's not a fault.

Most cream chows have a pink nose when fully matured so is this video out of date or are most cream chows not true examples?
