Love the Peter Kay impression! "Gerrout the way ya cloown"!
Nice video, bringing back memories of Easter holidays in 1973 & 74 riding between Doncaster & Peterborough. Probably a sound that will never be beaten, although Westerns gave them a run for their money. It's a shame the Deltic engine couldn't have been tamed so it could fit in the HST. Nothing wrong with the Valenta, but it was never as throaty and thoroughbred as the Deltic.
As others have said that 'clown' had as much right on the platform as the rest of the photters, have they never heard of tolerance........
What other chance would the 'clown' have to see a pair of Napiers? Sorry, but he may well have had more actual knowledge of Deltics than those who think camera ownership gives them a divine right to a clear platform at all times...
They didnt mouth off when the fitter/driver guy walked into shot.......pairs of big kids.
Get out the way..... You don't have the rights to this loco or the platform it's a public place. Sorry but big no no
............funny how someone tried to shout at the photographer above the noise, then an old guy with a flat cap climbs in the Loco! Great Napier sound!
Lovely stuff! Gorgeous sound as ever.
Nice rake of maroon Mk1s, even the Body Snatcher at the back blended in with them a bit!
saw this very locomotive at the old eastfield depot in Glasgow last year, impressive machine even though it's fifty + years old. amazing testament to british engineering.
Love it when ya jumped at the horn :)
Deltic 22 looking immaculate and sounding great!
Music to my ears! Napier Deltic engines had a beautiful rumbling sound for such complex engines. They did smoke when cold and at low RPM.
now that's what I call a departure! You may or may not have noticed but there was someone walking through the engine room when 22 went past, must have been an experience!
BEAST! Helfire video mate, nice seeing you again :)
Good video but why slag another Deltic fan off? he has as much right as you have to be there so why not let him enjoy his day too?
As I've said to many people and as it says in the description if you'd care to read it. It wasn't me talking. I'm not a middle aged northerner. There was a huge group of us all standing together thus not to get in each others films & pictures and then that one guy ignores everyone else. So yeah I can kinda see why they were annoyed, but it wasn't me. I don't talk in ANY of my videos
why cant he view the engine room? hees just another person like all of you? not sure about any of you but i enjoy a peak inside of an engines room as i dont get it much?
The ultimate British diesel! Awesomeness in the extreme! Love that Napier engine! =-D
In the old days me and the mates would have been doing rubbings of the name plate and the phot with the gob would have been trying to find a surgeon to cut his camera out of his wind pipe.
love the passing shot, great work :)
Great catch there! I like the way you got on the pendo to pass it, its just ashame the pendo made mincemeet of the deltic as it passed it lol , great v
I give you a thumbs up for that last clip - overtaking at speed. You just couldn't plan that if you tried, such good luck.
Excellent footage !
Like the driver giving 22 the guns out of Euston, amazing Napier machines! I tried to get the DPS to do the same with Alycidon at Quainton Road Napier Day on a half mile of track and 2 Mk 1s but we only needed one engine and that was fun, great clip! Not sure what the story was with the guy and his dog, he didn't want to be messin with that train!
I remember saying at the time we left Euston "text-book departure". This just confirms it!
What a soundtrack! Fantastic catch.
Excellent vid,passing shot unique!
Nice catch mate and loved the chase, the enthusiasts were a bit vocal weren't they? Thanks for the uploads! Ken
The way he shocked when the driver sound deltic's whistle... Just like me!
Remember these from the mid sixtys used to run into the old leeds central station took over from the steam a 4 s.awsome noise.
Nice acceleration out of the station much better than on preserved lines, deltics were made for speed and the main line .
Batman fan too lol. "Holy oblivion"
Feast on the magnificence!
I'm guessing the loco on the back is for backup or similar - do let me know, love the video - can't beat the epic Deltic sound! : )
Excellent clips
Great stuff, '22 not clagging it up as much as normal, either!
best site & sound on the mainline this deltic, and you can shove that pendalino crap lol, RSG is now in the north east for a couple of months hired to gbrf pulling freight beleive it or not, never seen a deltic pulling freight ill have to have a jaunty up to blyth to see this,
Love the video awesome
Great vids & story
Good to see people wearing High Vis when on or about the platform.
Awesome!!!!
Are you from Rugby
Get a like from me RM but how dare you beat the deltic! lol
What a beast.
The person with the dog and rucksack nearly caused a safety related incident baling out at the last minute
To me it looks like it only used one of its engines to power up; why would that be?
So I'm guessing the line speed was greatly reduced for the Deltic's road.?
They were on the slow lines and so were probably following a freight or stopping passenger service.
The only ‘clowns’ are the ones that are talking.
Why are you on virgin trains
angry northerners!!! Great video
He's from the north west, different breed. Sounds like Bolton or Bury area, either way, what a twat.
Enjoyed, Shame about the Orange Jacket Brigade! .Dave.
Why are they pulling a loco at the rear, lots of these videos show them
Nice one
Thanks - that makes sense! :)
what a machine
Two fingers too the moaners!!!!!
A steam engine never pulled a train out of Euston at that speed.
@kenbrowne1947 Haha! Yes they certainly were!
2:10 driver takes power with a door still open!
The driver doesn't take power. The driver applies power, the locomotive takes power. Such nonsense should not be taught in traction schools or used by five minute managers.
@@PenzancePete Same difference.
The locomotive wears graceful look
You can’t be here !This trains for local people, isn’t it Tubbs? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
that bloke sounds like Rishton from the old channel 4 documentary "the bashers"
I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing, where he was having a go at Pip Dunn
+MAPFWH thats the one! And it was a lot better when you weren't f**king involved in it I can tell you that, much better magazine! the bashers was great 😂
At least he called a spade a spade.... I'd certainly spend a weekend in Rishton's company, he looks a right laugh.
+MAPFWH yeah haha same here, always hoping I'll bump into him or one of the others at a diesel gala somewhere 😉😂
Why has it got A 57class pushing??
Michael Naisbitt The 57 isn't pushing, the 57 is for the journey in the opposite direction
Jakey's Life If it had been steam hauled this would make sense as there are not many turntables left------But with a diesel one would assume that at the end of the trip it would just run around it,s train for the return journey I am assuming that wherever it is going there would be facilitaties for locos to do this Thereby freeing up the 57 for other duties
It's also there in case the Deltic goes bang! Better than having several hundred tonnes blocking the down slow!
The 57 was pushing. Its on notch 2 to give the Deltic a help up Camden Bank. I was in the 57!
John Gallagher Very envious of you mate --can you tell me is this the only Celtic running I left England a long time ago. thanks for info
Always spoils the effect by having maroon/pullman/guv combination stock, they should find some nice clean Mk2s and parcels stock in Blue Grey to make it authentic. Then there's a 47 on the rear - of 14! I don't think they ever pulled 14 in service?!
The Deltics usually to be found at Kings Cross than Euston.
Deltic 55022 D9000 Royal Scots Grey, Spitfire Railtours.
I was scared of these as a small boy
Thebest
Are VIP tickets available and do they allow you to film mediocre videos without public intrusion?
2 stroke power !!
Dem Napiers!
Surely a train despatch irregularity at 2mins 10 secs.
@edj66 The accent made me laugh. Fred Dibnah on helium.
I was there at euston :D I was the young lad in the grey jumper and jeans ;) lol
Check out my footage ;)
wud of been better with a tripod
Dat face... saexee
Funny how no one cares for the new stock lol...
