Chaos Acquires AXYZ 3d People and Anima5 Software | First Impressions | Using It With Vantage 2.0

  • Chaos announced that they acquired AXYZ design, along with their fantastic library of 3d scanned people, and their animation plugin Anima5. This is a big step forward in making it easier to animate people with Vray and Vantage, and for filling out your large scenes with crowds and life. Or is it?
    I will test it out and see how it works, then give you my take on what it means moving forward. Then, let me know what you think. Is this a good move by Chaos?

    To avoid the sliding feature you have export the whole vrscene with the Anima dudes in (use the export and send the whole animation icon in Vantage 3dsamx), make sure you bake the Anima textures within Anima first, also ensure textures are low aquality. Also, each time you are in Max I've found the best way is to bring the Anima scene into a blank file which gets xreffed into your main file in mad max. Each time there is an update to the anima file I've found it's best deleting the anima project inside your xref max file as updating inside max doesn't work and it generally hangs. When exporting the .vrscene with the Anima dudes in this will bloat your .vrscene massively (but it works). It's generally a pain but it does work, I'm hoping the new purchase will help this dreadful process.

      Yeah, that sounds like exactly the kind of thing I like to avoid :) Fingers crossed that chaos can make this MUCH more integrated than that. Thanks for the info!

      Why all that steps? Isn't live link working with Anima?

    Been using anima for a good 6/7 years now for arch vis and seen it grow from a janky bit of software with some dodgy animations to achieving cinematic quality people with good animations. software is still janky though 😜
    The big game changers were the realistic 4d people and "anima all" where you have access to 1000's of people.
    Great to see someone like chaos buying them out, hopefully they'll finally be able to offer floating license and improve the software quality!

      Yeah, I had never used the software but I have used the people from way back. A lot of people seem to agree with you about the software. Hopefully Chaos can polish it up, clean up the workflows between different software, make it more integrated, etc

    I got it to work pretty easily. I set everything up in the Anima program with an FBX of objects to interact with. then I set my animation time line and selected the send to Vantage. There is a drop down on the "send to Vantage" button for animation. Seemed to work well with my test

    The only way I can make it work is by using the 4th button in max "Render animation with Chaos Vantage". 4D Character texture is still buggy even when baking in Anima. This workflow is not great.

      I'm getting that feeling from several people now. Let's hope the acquisition makes it better eventually, because I do like the 3d scanned people.

    If you pay for vantage do you get the people for free? As I know D5 subscription gives you access to those 3d people.

    You can’t animate more than four seconds with the lite version. So if you get the 4D people you’ll need to purchase pro license to get through that limitation.

    You need to click on the update keyframe button in order ro have every frame of the animated objects render properly. It's the icon with the swirling arrows and little guy. ADAM...when u get this to work, create another vid showing it working.

    Does this mean the end of Anima support for the Unreal Engine? Since Unreal is a direct competitor to Vantage?

    Hopefully Chaos can do better than Anima, their UX is a mess, 4D people are buggy and and heavy especially in Unreal, and their support was a tad a defensive.

      I can't speak to that, but they do say that it is a common request, and they bought it so they could make it more accessible across their software. Maybe it will be something they start to develop.

      @@Learn-archViz Thanks Adam. I always find your videos super helpful. I'm going to need to branch out into 3DS or C4D or BLENDER in addition to Sketch one of these days.

    I wonder why Chaos did this deal. I guess they really want to push Vantage to compete with Lumion and Twinmotion. Doesn't make seance just buy this AXYZ company just because. If now they do a deal with evermotion they would become an Arch Viz Monster.

    • @Learn-archViz
      @Learn-archViz  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the reason is exactly what you said. I think they'll probably integrate it with Enscape too, which would also be a nice competitor to Lumion and TM.

    • @franciscop.4727
      @franciscop.4727 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Learn-archViz integration with Enscape would be a killer, but the only thing that I see issues is memory, Rhino, REVIT or Sketchup are not good managing memory with this type of content. We have lots of issues already with Enscape assets, our designers just fill their scenes with them. Other than that, the cool feature is since VRay is compatible with Enscape, you can take a Enscape scene from rhino, REVIT or others then export as VRay scene and then render in, 3D Max VRay, have you tried? I guess it would be the same with Vantage now that I think about it

      Actually that would be horrible, there isn't any alternative for Unreal at that quality. Yes it is buggy but working around is very useful. Nothing closer to Anima in Unreal, which is sad
