Sometimes I wonder if Paul could play and sing some of his songs whose bass arrangements are complex because in recording studios he didn't necessarily play bass and sing at the same time.

I’ve seen him play some melodic lines whilst singing flat out live. The guy’s a genius so we need to appreciate him while he’s still around.
He can but for recording control was better to overdub them.
