At last, you’ve brought the SR+ out the shadows. It seems quit often neglected and underrated. We have one, and we go everywhere (just on the supercharger network). It smokes other cars, accelerates up ‘vertical’ mountain passes like a raving banshee, and cruises effortlessly. And all from one motor and a medium/small battery around 47/50kwh. It’s got to be experienced.
@@omelvold Yes, watching Bjorn drive spiritedly in snow, has made me wonder how, rear wheel only driving, will be in these conditions. It would be great if he could do some testing in an SR+ while you've still got snow. We're driving up to the Pennines in a couple of weeks, where we habitually get snow and ice. Many of the roads aren't treated, and this can carry through to March/April, on and off. If we hit snow, I'll let you know how it goes. On charging, we always get a notification that the battery is preconditioning as we approach the next supercharger, but maybe it's just heat scavenging?

I was waiting for this challenge for a while now. I have the same sr* and i did a 1100 km trip from Toronto to Charlotte NC. I got 177 wh/km. Not bad given the temp was around -1
Not bad at all! In Europe my average is around 190 during the winter. Probably because the european speed limitations are higher than in the states (120km/h)
Thanks Bjorn, I am planning to drive from London to Alicante in April and this video has reinforced the idea of frequent stops to reduce overall travel time:-)
The Model 3 SR+ is a great car. But the Long Range Model 3 gets an additional 160km of range and an additional motor so if one of the motors fail, then you won’t be stuck on the road since you have the other motor.
Thanks for testing it with the mudflaps installed. Since I added mudflaps so soon after getting the car this kills off all concerns of impact on range I had previously.

I have the 35,8 kWh e-Golf and I love it. It drives very comfortably, has a fantastic audio system (Dynaudio) and has a pretty good build quality overall. I rarely drive in eco-mode, but I must add that I drive quite carefully. I stay under 100km/h and the AC sporadically is turned on. With all these efforts, I get a maximum of 240/250 km out of a charge - in winter time, with the heater on 20C and a cold battery, this is reduced to a maximum of about 180/190 km. It doesn’t bother me that much during most of my driving, but on longer trips it’s quite a hassle. Multiple fast charges also drain the battery capacity. That being said, I love how you averaged the time of your trip with the Tesla. This goes to show the quality of Tesla’s batteries and the importance of multiple, smaller stops to get the most efficiency out of it. Very emty roads yielded here a good high avg speed. A distance of 1000km is very long. Which leads to relativity, as everywhere. E.g. my trips are more about 700km. SR+ would mean at least three short stops stops of 20 minutes each, twiddling your thumb and closely obeying the timing. LR AWD would mean, one stop long enough for an hour of dinner instead, not having to watch the time "for loading efficiency". Also means, more options, in case of traffic jam, charger jam, bad winds etc.
Great video, and it goes to show that if you have enough chargers along your route, bigger batteries don't always have the advantage. Hoping to trade in my 28 kWh Ioniq for the SR+ soon.
262kw is 351.348 mechanical horsepower. Which is still ridiculously powerful for a 3 series size saloon....... I know the power was raised by 5% in December 2019 which sounds like this SR+ has had this applied because the original spec was 333 horsepower. Bob Llewellyn of "Fully charged" had 250kw rate of charge in a model 3 the other day at a London V3 supercharger station!
It's max allowed battery power to the motor not mechanical power, you have to multiply by the drivetrain efficiency at the operating point to get the mechanical power.

Car seems to have 300km range but best strategy is to top up to have 10% remaining at next charger about 100km. How much longer would the 1000km take if you drove 200-250km each keg of the journey?
good video, you got a high consumption while driving it 135km/h i see it is around 220-230 wh/km. Here in the netherlands the max speed on all the highways will drop down from 130km/h to 100km/h during the day starting in March of this year. I already started to drive slower, during normal working days I drive 100km/h to work and achieve about 130wh/km on average. I have only charged at a supercharger once. Most of my days I drive anywhere between 150-300 km. Sometimes upwards of 400km, only then I need to plan a supercharger stop or drop my speed down to 90.

I love your Videos, roadtrips, challenges....so fantastic😍😍
The European tour vor the northcape Tour.....still amazing and fantastic 😍😍😍
Did you bought the Model 3?
Euch one?
Are you happy so far?
I want to see what happens with a midrange ( unicorn ) Model 3.
Where's that long range rear wheel drive? Where where!
Just got my SR+ 2020 a few weeks ago.. LOVE IT.. only thing I wish is that it had the floor lights (disabled in SR+) and I wish it could charge more than 32 amp at home/destination charging. :(
Think Tesla might open up the SR+ to premium option purchase at a later date?
I'm gonna drive 1000km I'll start at 2300 at night :D
Should I order it? Schould I not? Should I order it? Should I.... ahhhhhhhhhhh
Just do it 😎
My Tesla still puts a smile on my face every day I drive it.
I got it on February 2019... no regrets.
Resistance is futile
It's good sheeeet!
Yes
6 degrees Celsius at night in Norway during January. That is sick.
Ah yes, the Model 3 SR Plus is Re-Bjorned again.
I like that roads are empty!
That is supreme.
All right now!
Bjorn, can you make a video where you show how does navigate on autopilot deals with left-lane huggers ?! Does the car pass them on the right? Does it slowes down ? Does it remains behind?
10,5h - 1000km with Charging
7 - stop's charging ~ 2h
8,5 - without charging.
118km/h avg. speed.
Good Shiiiiit.
Bjorn, thank you for this detailed and accurate test!!!!
Will you be able to get hold of a MIC Model 3 SR+ with a LFP, and do the 1,000 km test for range and Charging speed on a 350 kW, V3 250 kw, and a V2 150/120 kW!!!!!
In recent video you would hear that Marcusbil has one on order and Bjorn will be testing it (to death)
I want him to come to America and do the 1,000 km challenge here. Would love to see results with American traffic and such.
Car seems to have 300km range but best strategy is to top up to have 10% remaining at next charger about 100km. How much longer would the 1000km take if you drove 200-250km each keg of the journey?
1000km challenge in LR non-P coming? :)
zedski LR RWD lowered , with Unplugged Performance Lip and High efficiency Spoiler 🤪
It could be made within 9:30!😀
What happened to the front stator power at 13:05? 😅
15:31 Got the CSS 2.0. Customary Sausage Sammich - 2.0 Meats
Do you see any options to do this challenge with the Porsche Taycan?
I do love the music on the background will you be so kind to tell me what is it
good video, you got a high consumption while driving it 135km/h i see it is around 220-230 wh/km.
Why is the maximum speed now lower than before?
@@marcw8133 This is a measure to lower our emissions of nitrogen oxides, which is a greenhouse gas. This is a result of the climate change discussions.
Ah okay interesting because they're discussing doing so in Germany as well. Most germans are against that idea though 😅
